What Ron means is that you are changing the structural integrity...ie; new framing. Which does require a permit and inspection. I would just go down and get one. It is easy since you aren't changing the footprint. :o

My buddy tried to get away with just "replacing" , yeah, nice fine and now the building inspector always seems to be his neighborhood... :eyes:

permitt = home improvement = higher property value = more taxes = yeh can't win.

I appreciate the concern guys.....all will be fine....the usual procedure is to plead ignorance if I have a problem. What do they usually charge for a permit?

I also believe they expect to see some type of plans or blueprints prior to granting permits...am I correct?
