Slipknot 11-14-2005 06:30 PM

I edited the thread

thefishingfreak 11-14-2005 06:32 PM

Tagger 11-14-2005 06:58 PM

slip ... just counted 22 on the list .. i didn't see the boss on the list .. we gonna stiff the boss ? :hs:

Fishpart 11-14-2005 07:57 PM

Plan B I cut and drilled blanks for short fat small spooks. There is a pic of a fish falling off one back on the main board somewhere.....May still be yellow, must consult with the color master....

BigFish 11-14-2005 10:16 PM

Can we mix and match colors or should they all be the same? Doesn't matter I would think but I like to mix it up! :hf1:

no,
we'll go over this one more time.

22 guys = 22 plugs, one goes to the boss and the 21 remaining plugs go to the other 21 guys in on the swap.
you don't get one of your own back.

now 23 plugs as of 11-23-05

Usually all colors are the same. Makes it easier for Tobias to "divy up". He is going to have his hands full as it is. Believe me I know.

BigFish 11-15-2005 06:50 AM

OK...sounds good to me...I guess it will make it easier for me too! :rotfl:

Just a thought but you may want to put all the info for this swap in the 1st entry of this thread, along with the list of participants. that way if people have any questions they can just go there instead of picking through all of the entries trying to get the right answer....it may cut down on the confusion.

You could also put down what plug each builder is making next to his name, that way not only can you keep track of what's being built, Some people who are still deciding on what to make can look at the list and get some ideas as to what's being made. (i.e. hmmm i see a lot of needles but I don't see any surfsters, maybe I'll make some of those.)

Just some suggestions

My lights just went dim.
21 lathes starting up at the same time.
somewhere a cedar tree cries.

:hihi: - My lights went dim too....

This should be renamed MoAss, Mother Of All Surf Swaps :eek5:

The Dad Fisherman 11-15-2005 09:55 AM

I picked up the wood last night and will start "Turnin' and Burnin'" this weekend.

My plan is to have all of them Spun, Sanded, Weighted, and Sealed by the end of the month....Then I can get them painted and epoxied after Xmas.

ThrowingTimber 11-15-2005 10:36 AM

All spun up :jump:

reelecstasy 11-15-2005 11:12 AM

Gonna go pilliage my wood this weekend from the special stash. Hope there is a great selection again. So many different exotics to choose from, hmmmm Gonna be a shame to paint them.

ProfessorM 11-15-2005 12:28 PM

Yeah I am still trying to decide if I am going Maple or AYC. Sink or slow sink. Decisions, decisions. Probably go all black colorwise. P.

The more the merrier. The hole is already too deep what the hell. I just keep thinking I am going to get 20 some odd awesome plugs and that is a cool thought. I will be able to open up a tackle shop. Paul

Kadywampus 11-16-2005 12:54 PM

OK by me , I've got 25 turned now .

The Dad Fisherman 11-16-2005 01:31 PM

Actually...that will make it 23 lathes.....but I'm cool with that. I'll be spinning up a storm this weekend anyway....whats one more.

Mommy I'm scared.......... Seems I have the dreaded epoxy adhesion problem with a few of my plugs, not all but 1 is too many as far as I am concerned with 23 to build I need to rectify what the hell is going on

Canalman 11-16-2005 05:09 PM

Paul,

What is your process?

Sealer?
Paint?
Clear?

Are you getting fish eyes or bumpy finish?

ThrowingTimber 11-16-2005 06:01 PM

Let NIB in!! I've only seen NIB plugs briefly as Eben ran away laughing and screaming :hf1:

Tagger 11-16-2005 06:38 PM

I don't think they exist .. Nib plugs... all smoke and mirrors..

Slipknot 11-16-2005 06:50 PM

http://www.bmwoodworking.com/brucefi...nibeelpunt.JPG

top plug is a nib plug, got that 3 years ago and hasn't seen water

he could never do this swap, he takes all year to make 6 plugs.

Make sure your hands are clean , wipe plug down with denatured alcahol , make sure to scuff , and make sure e-tex is warm and mixed well .
Good luck .

ProfessorM 11-17-2005 12:13 PM

Denatured alcohol. That will not hurt the paint? Do you put a coat of clear over the paint and then scuff with a scotchbrite pad or just scuff the paint and then clean with den. alcohol. I think am contaminating the plug. Thanks Paul

Tagger 11-17-2005 01:39 PM

epoxy will avoid the smallest dust particle for some reason .. Ya would think it would just incase it .. Eating fried chicken for dinner then handling your plugs a definate no no ..
