So...I take it that you guys are talking about the Dec. 1st trip on the Capt. John boat out of Plymouth? If that's the case, I'm into it. What does the thirty-five bones get ya? Do I need to bring my own gear? Boat rods and cue sticks aren't just lying around my place. What about bait/lures? Again, 8 oz. jigs aren't just hanging around my place. Let me know.

On another note, I will be taking $8 buy outs on the biggest cod action. You can save yourself two bucks, and still see a cod the size of small child come over the rail.

Looks that way....

You can rent gear on the boat for 5$ - they'll usually set you up for clams... I think 8oz cod jigs are too small - needing 12-18ounce and maybe more :eek5: ...

Canalratt made some real sweet ones for last year... :D

I'll bet the rods Capt John provides have very heavy mono, which will require very heavy jigs. I use 30lb spider wire, and 8oz jigs drops like a rock, plus Capt John boats usually anchor, so a fast drift shouldn't be a problem.

I'm going to have to do some scrambling but may work out. I think you will need at least 12 oz. jigs up to maybe 21 depending on the tides and wind. This is anchor fishing and they supply bait. I may have a supply of jigs for sale but have to see and I have a large spool of Dacron for any body that needs a fill.

C-Ratt - I spooled my 113 last year with your Dacron (I remember actually starting to feel a little green looking filling the spool in those 12 footers :yak: and I've never been seasick before), I was wondering how well that get's to the bottom compared to braid or mono -

Thanks,

John

John that stuff works fine. The best line to use is a superbraid like Power Pro, Whiplash etc. then regular braid. Mono is the worst especially for jigging there is too much stretch when your down 200+ feet. Its OK when bait fishing. Hopefully I can go but it may be a last minute decision.

some boats dont allow power pro because the mates can cut their hands on it.
