wow so many people on this site listen to solid tunes! I too listen to all kinds of stuff and many times it seems to be weather dependent. Like as soon as it gets nice I have the urge to open windows and crank the Allman Brothers. Right now I have been on a big reggae kick and have been playing a lot of Peter Tosh, Bob Marley and Toots. Always have at least one dead disk, and one phish disk (or 3) in the player.

For a little different bluegrass try Old Crow Medicine Show. I also really like older REM.

For those of you who like live stuff try nugs.net - even some great shows in the "free stash" section.

That all said I NEVER listen to music while actually fishing, just to and from.

Rodney Carrington is pretty funny if your looking for a laugh or two.

From shore that's definitely the case for me. I just feel like I need to be focused completely on what I'm doing once I'm fishing, but I have never tried listening to music while fishing from shore so I'm sure it could be done.

From the boat though I often have something playing in the background.

I'm beginning to think the professor and I are musical twins separated at birth, except for the lack of "unknown" Jersey stuff (but don't worry, I won't go there my New England bretheren). How's about the Unseen and the Seldom Seen. But be very careful of which is which. Maybe about one half of one percent would listen to both, and the others would be quite upset by one or both of these (hint hint, one is bluegrass and one is punk). Come on come on, more unkowns, more more more..... I love this stuff.

There's a guy from Hanson, Ma named Joe Merrick who makes some really great road trip music. Kinda similar to ABB. His sound ranges from rock to folk to country-ish stuff.

Seldom Scene are great. Unknown Jersey stuff. I don't get it. Over my head I guess, I am short. Smithereens are from Jersey i think if that is what you were eluding too. Oh well explain . I am kind of slow.

Danny Gatton is the greatest unknown guitarist ever as I have said many other times.
Bluegrass - Del McCory is nice. New Grass Revival is great. That is where I first heard Bela Fleck play
Anything Pat Metheny does. No one writes and arranges music like him. Nearly perfection IMO.
Blues - John Bonnamassa is fantastic. Watermellon Slim is cool. Smokin Joe Kubeck

Hendrix Band of Gypsies is a somewhat obscure incredible live show.
If 60's were 90's also a great listen.
Keith Richards first solo effort was a serious beatdown. Main Offender I think.

Steel Pulse is fantastic. Probably my favorite Reggae band of all. I saw them twice. Great show even if you could barely see the stage from the mary jane smoke in the air. True Democracy is a great album.

Just thinkin' of "local" music that would not have made its way up this far, Richie Cole and Alto Madness (at some little pasta joint in Chambersburg on a Tuesday night), Johnnie's Dance Band (clubs in Philly), Joe Zook and Blues Delux (rum joints in Trent'n), and the like. Still uncanny with the additions. Seen Methany as often as possible, saw Victor Wooton compensate for a broken string during the first cord of a base solo with Bela by retuning the remaining three strings as he continued to play the solo without missing a beat (my mind still is still blown), Joe Bonnamassa playing with BB King at the age of 13 in a club in Rochester NY, Dregs so close I was litterally getting pushed on the stage with the band (Disco Dregs?!?!?!), Sea Level.....talk about memories. I will definitely check out the web site. Probably dig thru the vinyl for some more "unkowns". Keep em coming guys! Bob H.

I saw Steel Pulse (again) this past summer /Prov.OldLupos/ - They STILL sound FANTASTIC!!! True talent is when you hear album quality vocals standing 20 feet from the person singing them.

If you like them, try Morgan Heritage....or another favorite, ASWAD.
