seems like mortgages should be 50 years to make them affordable now with inflation and fuel prices the way they are....these days

That means a lot of people are never going to be able to retire..:( (if things dont change)

Mortgages don't need to be longer. They need to be shorter, and people need to buy homes that they can afford (no more than 30-35% of your take home pay). A 50 year mortgage would mean you wind up paying several times what the selling price is. Everybody wants to own a McMansion. Well guess what, you probably can't afford to keep up with the Jones' - and Jone's can't really afford it either.

Good point. I've avoided my wife's urging for a larger house and now we're sitting on a 15 year mortgage and still have my water view :)

Yeah, but those ones BUY me time on the water and the other ones COST me time on the water :hihi:
