Hey, the Smithfield Elks is open all Sats in March. Would be nice not to have to drive 90 miles for a change. It is right of 295, maybe 10 minutes.

Paul would you mind calling to check it out for availability. I called but they said to call tomorrow morning.

I'll call them first thing in the morning.

I have tried to get in touch with someone to talk about booking the hall but there hasn't been anyone available.

Leave a voicemail with Carol. The person at the bar will connect you to her voice mail.

Someone else needs to pick up the ball as I am on the road flying the rest of this week and back out again Monday thru next Wednesday. She will never get me.

I called yesterday and didn't get anyone, left a message.

I called today, got someone, and they said Fri/Sat nights in April are booked.

May 11th is the next available Saturday there. Hmmm. Wonder where else we can have it?

I went to the Fairhaven VFW to measure the rooms for future comparison. The manager stated that there is a Saturday March 9th opening however it falls on the weekend of the RISSA SW convention.

The VFW in Dartmouth Ma on 144 Cross Rd had a hall/kitchen available for Aoril 13th. No other dates available in April. The hall fits 100 people comfortably according to the contact oerson st the VFW. The VFW in Fairhaven holds 250 as a comparison. The cost is 200 for the hall and 50 for the kitchen. This is located near Fairhaven abutting Rt 6 near the Westport line and Kings Inn a totally nude strip joint. The Dartmouth VFW contact is Pat 508996-9599.

I checked out the VFW in Dartmouth and took some pics. The hall dimensions are approximately (48 ft x 30 ft) along with a coat room, kitchen with one stove/oven and microwave, bar room which small in size with a pool table.
In comparison to the VFW in Fairhaven which has dimensions of (48 ft x 30 ft) plus (25 ft x 15 ft) which is that section near the entrance door. The difference is only the (25 ft x 15 ft)
In my opinion this hall is adequate. There is a Best Western on route 6 within two miles and two motels within less then one mile. The Dartmouth VFW is within about 2 miles of the Faunce Corner exit off rt 195 in Dartmouth, right across street from WalMart

JohnR make a decision soon in the event someone else books the April 13th, this includes the Bomba bros. I will not be able to give them a deposit until this Saturday therefore someone else from the area may need to go there if there is a problem with the VFW not receiving prior to Saturday.

I am good for the 13th. Vic, you have gone above and beyond. I say book it, if you can, John.
Thanks,
Rick

that sounds good, so what if it's the night of a fishing show, the show is by day and our thing is at night

I agree, the show ends at 7:00pm and if people haven't figured out what to buy by that time, there is no help.

There is a choice to be made between the two VFWs'. Good to know that RickBomba is available for April 13th. Now if RickBomba is available for March 9th we are making progress and the final decision should be made by JohnR.

Fairhaven VFW March 9th ?

OR

Dartmouth VFW April 13th ?

RickBomba 02-26-2013 08:42 PM

I can do both. Try to let me know about March 9th as soon as possible. I'm on call next weekend and it's kind of short notice for me to switch.

tysdad115 02-26-2013 09:50 PM

Im not far from either place, i can get the deposit to them if needed.

Thanks all for your hard work on this. Andy - you have PM

RickBomba 02-27-2013 09:45 AM

I'm in for 4/13. I'll tell Matty.

tysdad115 02-27-2013 11:50 AM

Its a go for 4/13 Dartmouth VFW , I will drop deposit off to them Friday. Thanks Victor and John.

redlite 02-27-2013 01:24 PM

good job guys thanx for all your hard work on this
We should have this in Westportmafia's basement 3 miles down the road as it is about the same size
Since we r moving this westward from usual location one other place u may want to quickly check on 1st is the Holy Ghost Hall on Sodom rd in westport as I believe it is a bigger facilty that may better accomodate our gig. about 7 miles from the Dartmouth VFW
Dartmouth VFW:
Kings Inn New Englands #1 rated "gentlemans" club is a stumble down the street from Dart VFW....bring food stamps to tip with.......
All the hotels right there (Capri and such) are roach motels that charge by the hour with a kickback to the above mentioned establishment if u catch my drift.
The Best Western in Dartmouth is about 2 miles down rt 6 and is nice and only about 5 years old. thats where I consecrated my marriage after our wedding. If people r gonna stay there ask about usage of the after hours function room they have there as only place to congragate as there is no weight room.
May be a more accomadating hotel as opposed to the hotels up on Faunce corner rd which r also about 2 miles up the road in the other direction. but r next to a 99 restatuarant for those that are still hungry afterwards........
If we do go with the dartmouth VFW Just don't let seamule and fishbones know they can walk to my alamater UMass a mile down the street........
And bring your gear we should have schoolies in the river by then

Seamule also graduated from there, but I think it was about 20 years before you. And I'm pretty familiar with UMD. I spent a week there one night. If ther girls still look the same as they used to, I'm not wasting my time walking a mile. BTW, I saw a nice picture of you last night.:devil2:

Might as well start booking the old place or whatever for 2014, given the problems of scheduling this year....

tysdad115 03-01-2013 01:36 PM

We are all set for 4/13 , deposit is in hall is ours.
