When GAS is $4.00 a gal and permits are $250.00 Which can and Will happen, No one will CARE.....................

BigFish 04-13-2004 03:13 PM

JHabs is right....I won't care, I still want to fish!:D

fishweewee 04-13-2004 03:16 PM

Just as well I'm not getting my sticker this year...hoofing it is good exercise.

redlite 04-13-2004 03:49 PM

Hoofin it is all good for your health, till ya decide to hump it from the Ranger station to the Race and half way there, the skies open up and there is lightening comin down like it is aimin' for the cow you're dragging, and its a 2+ mile hike back.
But, of course, i'll still be doing it every night this year........

likwid 04-13-2004 03:52 PM

wah wah wah

i need a sticker

wah wah wah

I told my father about this thread, he laughed his a** off at all of you whining about stickers and told me about hoofing race back in the 50's and 60's with my grandfather WORKING for their fish.

I stick by my guns and fish like he fishes.
I still walk Cuttyhunk when I could just run the boat around it, its just more fun to take a nice pleasant 30min to an hour hike out to the backside and huck plugs into the boulders then hoof back with a cow over my shoulder.

Great looks ya get doin that. :D

Hey Karl, you got it right about the prime real estate. Was going to do the 2.5 hr ride, say at 6 on Sat. but something happened. So I asked my wife to take a ride with me after lunch. In the meantime, I called the Ranger station to see what was what. She said the days selling was closed. I thought of going down Thursday morning, but after reading todays reports, I ain't. There are alternatives like you say.

Doing a mail-in can cause problems. How far back do they go to get a mailing list? I have had a sticker for some years. Does someone like me not get on the list because I didn't get one this year? How about people who want one but have never had one before? I think the Nauset way is the best. 3200 stickers at $100 equals $ 320,000. Is that enough for them to man a station like Nauset? I wonder.

Also, how can they limit one per household? What do you say to your kids or wife? They pay Federal Taxes too. The popularity of OSV's is the cause. Like Habs said $ 4.00 gas and $ 250 stickers could do the trick. Although it would be kinda funny to see dyed-in-the-wool surfcasters driving mini suv's powered by electricty.
Hey, not a bad idea. That would erase another b*%$h by the anti's that suv's cause pollution on the beach!

Just my two cents. Fire at will.:(

So what you are saying is that I should leave my house right now:wall: :wall: :wall:

I wish Eric well Steve. Maybe he might feel up to it on Thursday or Friday. I don't believe what that ranger told you, maybe he was trying to steer people away but I think if that kind of word gets out, it will only cause there to be another cluster$%#$% again tomorrow. How are they gonna sell more than 1200 in one day when it's hard enough to do 350 in one day?

I think Sweetwater has a pretty good summation of the whole thing.

TheSpecialist 04-13-2004 06:12 PM

Maloney 04-13-2004 06:20 PM

Hey, BM. You're right about the camping out. I work Weds. night. Home at 11:30. Get up a 4 to bee line to the Race? WTF!!!! I ain't a young stud anymore. Only a wise old Bull. (at least my wife allows the delusion)

C-5 CC 04-13-2004 06:23 PM

I agree, the math doesn't add up right. The recording says 500/day limit.

C-5 CC 04-13-2004 06:31 PM

That single porta-poty near the ranger station must be one hell of a MESS:(

Maloney 04-13-2004 06:33 PM

But I am having second thoughts....mayby start down anyway at a reasonable hour to visit Red Top and give the Ranger a call and get incorrect info and get pissed off and......... I called down today. Said they do 500 a day and have 1000 left. so wed and thrus end it, if true....wtf am I thinking....maybe go north and visit GOS.....

Slipknot 04-13-2004 06:36 PM

can we end this thread please?

TheRattBoy 04-13-2004 06:54 PM

Rapt Tite 04-13-2004 11:23 PM

Sounds like a great place to fish!!!

BasicPatrick 04-13-2004 11:24 PM

12:23am Wed....

The Plan

Leaving Hull at 2:30am

DD & Gas at the Bridge @ 3:30

In Line @ 4:30 am

I am in a Red GMc Jimmy...say Hi if you are there

ReelChitty 04-13-2004 11:31 PM

I know for a fact that today that they could only sell up to 1600 tickets today. Get there early dress warm, bring lots of coffee only to sell because you will be inline outside in the rain and cold like I was today. I think that come Friday or Saturday there will be no more stickers. Just my two cents.

BasicPatrick 04-13-2004 11:34 PM

In the rain outside...aquaskinz photo op

ReelChitty 04-14-2004 11:47 AM

Yeah I saw one guy with his aquaskinz on and a bunch of guys with waders. So wish I had an aquaskin yesterday.

BasicPatrick 04-14-2004 09:00 PM

Well it is over...I got sticker 1941 at noon today...

Started to rain as soon as I got under the tent...

FY to all...At end of today they will be just short of 2100 of 3200 sold.

Guy at the counter said they will run out Friday afternoon or early sunday

Slipknot 04-14-2004 09:48 PM

As of today around 10:00 this morning they have just over 400 left. My buddy who had the day surgery stood in line with about 40 people and got his. Thank God, he is a happy guy now.

BigFish 04-16-2004 12:09 PM
