Nice, bright, dedicated area you got there Brian. Whats with the 3 plugs in the frame on the wall?

striperondafly 11-26-2008 12:44 PM

Thanks Paul - the three plugs on the wall are the first good working models of the danny, jr , and torpedo I make.

Here are my caves.......

Here are a couple of pics of my caves. The first pic is my indoor cave. It is the room that is under an addition to my house. It is a good size room, about 16x24 and as you can see nicely organized :) It is where I store all of my rods, reels, plugs and my fresh and saltwater collection. The pic only shows a small part of it, but the rest is the same. It is on my list to get cleaned up later this winter so I can work on plugs and stuff in there, and display all of my stuff properly. I haven't done much work down there because of the mess plug building makes but I just got the big dust collector from jet so I may give it a shot.

The other pics are of my other man cave which is a detached garage. It is about as organized as my indoor cave. This is where I currently work on plugs, store my boat, cars, tractors, and other junk. My work bench in the picture is a nice cedar "potting" bench my wife gave me several years ago. I did use it for potting plants for a bit, but then I put the lathe and drill press on it and so it stayed for a while. The lathe is actually mounted on a piece of plywood that comes right off the bench so it is mobile. The lathe is an old 1940's lathe my father in law was nice enough to let me use. My saws, paint booth, and other stuff are in another area.
Enjoy!

Bump for more....

ProfessorM 02-11-2011 04:15 PM

I couldn't move back 4 feet anywhere in my cellar without bumping into something so pictures of my area would look like a Sanford and Son set.

chefchris401 02-11-2011 04:22 PM

I don't have a cave, my lathe and what not will be set up in my shed, along with the lawnmower, ladders, etc, it's a mess.

My painting area is in the basement, which is only 5 feet tall, so a few rolling chairs and a fan vented out the window.

I do my sanding on the kitchen table with a drop cloth on it, take them into the shed for thru wiring then do the epoxy on the kitchen table.

It's not ideal, but it works, makes me clean up after I'm done, and works fine.

Use what you have!!

I am a lil jealous of everyones caves.

Afterhours set up is sweet, Don was nice enough to show me around. He left on the picture of all his "personal" ah plugs and protos, I felt high when I left, sensory overload. Thanks.

Love the caves guys here is mine, still a work in progress but always a comfy 65F in the winter. Won't be fully pimped until warm enough to paint everything, just got it cleared with the tower (Wife:chased:)

Might as well show picks since it looks like those 20 sealed, weighted, sanded baits are goners, there goes the winter so far:smash::yak5::devil2:

Thanks for the thread, I love seeing where people do their beautiful work.

The sled is set up to tapering "shaker style" table legs on the 2 inner sides and the router jig is for beveling the underside of table tops to give a lighter look to beefy tabletops. I do not own a shaper ....

I subscribed to Woodsmith for about 15 yrs and have made about 50 jigs for many of the common WW techniques.... I stopped my subscription about 2 yrs ago when they started repeating the same ole same ole.

MS- Sweet production shop man.... you must be an engineer... love the drop down PVC dust collection system (w/gate valves?) for all your machines... plus all the cool stools... do you employ a crew to staff each station??? Looks like you spend your winters down in your shop....

All you need is a nice potted plant to complete the look :devil2: :hihi:

Unfortunately my cave is pretty much a real cave. Hard to believe I even got any plugs out of it when I did...

the Jack's empty.

Muskyslayer96 02-12-2011 07:52 PM

Indeed sir!

My buddies are supposed to fill it with there spare change when they show up, seeing that they are usually in the shop draining another top self booze bottle before I even get home from work.
You'd think they could at least turn the paint booth on and prime some baits:wall::smash:
