sand lot baseball, street hockey, pond hockey, basketball and foot ball took up nearly most of my time. Just don't see any sandlot baseball anymore. We had a pissa place and met there everyday for several hours of non adult supervised fun.

On the back of the old black and white Polaroid my dad wrote: "Christmas Eve - 1959 Just finished setting this up for Chuck - will he be surprised!" I sure was. Thanks, Pop, thanks Ma - it was really neat! |
leavin Rubber....
i remember the day i decided to do the longest skid mark (leavin Rubber) via a bicycle in History....
with my brother's bike of course... :jester: I sat at the top of the hill contemplating where i should apply the brakes to keep from Crashing into the wooden fence.... at the bottom of the col de sac ... And i was off.... 20, 30 , 40 mph, pedaling down hill like i was on fire rushing to the nearest body of water.... then i decide to apply the brakes thinkin.... this will be good for a 40' skid.... well it was a real BAD idea because i mis judged how many feet i needed to stop at that speed before i'd wipe out... as i neared the curb skidding in a perfect straight line leaving the coolest skid mark in the world ...i crashed that front tire so hard into the tar curb that i not only dented the rim so it was un ridable but my head snapped downwards on Impact... So FAST that i smashed my forehead into the center of the handlebars with a big ole KAwack !!! that made me see stars and tweety birds... for awhile after walking the bike home in a concussion stuper... i looked in the mirror at my forehead... in Ultimate HORROR to see this HUGE freekin egg of a bump there... i looked more like a UNICORN... it was so NASTY lol :hihi: |
That is a great Pic....The Invisible Man....always wanted one of those.
notice nothing plugs in or needs batteries....... |

Toy M16 Replicas.
We used to play "Vietnam" We'd set up ambushes in the woods, take turns playing the VC, set up booby traps, do mock tortures of prisoners....... Good times. |
we used to do this thing called "Survival Tests" we'd pick one kid to be the leader and he would come up w/ all these "feats of skill" (translated: Stupid Things to Do)...jump off this wall, climb this fence, crawl through these thornbushes.....if i showed you one of the rock Cliffs we used to use a garden hose to repel down.......you'd have me committed...man it was fun though

When I was a kid I had a nice cannon. it was a modern artilery design about 8 inches long. It had a spring loaded breech that took a "bullet" about 1 inch long and 1/4 diameter. we used to set up these dinasour figures I had and shoot them over using the spring loaded canon.
It was great fun and I bet i would enjoy shooting at them dinasours even today as a 55 year old kid! :) |
Good thread BF, you even made me look up when Big Wheels were invented because I never had one! And the answer is, I was to old when they came out LOL
Now, I like Paul's answer the best (a stick) as I am sure he used it for good use :btu: VB |

We played kick the can...heck who didn't! Have any of you ever played "Relevio"?? (Not sure on spelling) The game was played on bikes and the person who was "IT" had a rag filled with sand and they had to catch someone else and hit them with the sand filled rag....then they were "IT"!:btu:

a pool table... this was a full size perfect one! in it's own Garage room.. DARTS in there as well ping pong table could go on top... Basket ball court outside... too... we had the ole space trolley and when we were little we had this miniature train you could ride on with an oval track... plus the real long thick rope for climbing up to the oak tree... 35 foot tall climb.... to get up there... |
