Join the club. I've never started the season off with 3 skunkings in a row. At least last night, my fishing partner caught a couple fish. I had 2 on that I fought for a few seconds before they got themselves freed. I guess I'll blame it on the crushed barbs rather than my own ineptitude.
Not sure when I'll make it out again, but I'll keep giving it a try until I land one.

Having never entered a tournament like this before, I learned that taking a one handed picture of a thrashing schoolie in chest deep water in the middle of the night is a bit of a challenge.:uhuh:

I forgot to add, I said f'it after awhile. The cause is why I entered anyway. I think we CT guys have an unfair advantage this early, anyway.

Killed the Skunk. 2 nice fish on one of my own designed plastics.

Bossman was a witness although he says he will claim they are from last year. :rotf2:

One landed last night on a Danny and one miss.

numbskull 05-04-2011 07:58 PM

Yikes, this is getting serious. I'm standing out there in lightning trying to no avail to hook fish too small to eat a 5" plug :smash:. Still stuck on 4 fish total.

Clammer 05-04-2011 08:52 PM

flat ass calm / 1 hour before dark .prime conditions for schoolies ............... 0/0/0 Again .

no surprize to me ...........only been saying it for the last 5/6 years :smash:

& your not even sure all the fish that have been caught are [fresh] ...... the holdovers [Hudson river Fish ] leave also & go further up the coast ; & your resident summer schoolie is from the Chessie & there are only drips & large :wall:coming from there .

zimmy 05-05-2011 07:20 AM

Landed 3 or 4 nice'ish (have to check the camera ) fish last night and dropped the same. If only this thing started the previous week :smash: Tonight's another night :uhuh:

This should get the prize for worst cell phone pic ever. Much better class of fish about 34" FAT stuffed with herring?. Even pulled some drag.

Yup. I suspect these fish are from the northern rivers, not the Chesapeake yet. Had a friend kill a 30" fish yesterday....it was full of eggs. If it had been from the south I think it would have spawned......or already been dead. On a brighter note, he got into plenty of fish with his flyrod so maybe things will pick up.

tysdad115 05-06-2011 06:13 AM

Skunk this morning.

The atmosphere completely changed last night. Water not moving as well and NO BAIT, NO BAIT, NO BAIT at 3 separate locations. Desolate. Not even the slightest sign of bait. :wall:

chefchris401 05-06-2011 12:54 PM

Went yesterday after work, wrong wind, and the tide was too late, managed to have one fish blow up a pencil 6 feet from me, and not land it.

So far just two fish.

Hopefully get out tonight after work.
