Sadly no i am not taking the chance.

Mr. Sandman 09-07-2012 08:14 PM

Be sure and tell your loved ones that you love them before you go.

IMO this is dumb ...there is always another day.

striperman36 09-07-2012 08:25 PM

If Huck thinks he can do it, then is it stupid?

FishNH 09-07-2012 08:38 PM

Going to be just big swells most likely spaced apart. Should be fine.

animal 09-07-2012 08:50 PM

Tight lines guys. Get 'er dun. I want some swordsteaks, bastages. :devil2:

striperman36 09-07-2012 08:55 PM

Two hurricanes to your east and severe weather along the eastern seaboard with possible tornados to your west. The canyons probably aren't the best place to 'ride out' that type of weather.

Ditto on that.

It is more than a storm swell I can tell you that. The wind is 20-25 here on MV right now and gusty. 100 mi so in open water, I can tell you there is a very sloppy sea on top of a 10' swell easy. Anyone who has been there can tell you it is another world out there. The good news is they are in a 100' boat. Even still, it will be a long night for those that are not feeling well right about now.

I have no doubt the fishing will be great. Fish love this slop out there. But it will be uncomfortable to fish in it to say the least. Any first timers going? They just got a wake up call about what the canyons look like in a breeze. I hope everyone is OK.

Personally I don't see the need to push it, even on a charter. It is a hell of a lot more fun to fish out there when you don't have to hold on all day and night or even worse for those that have to fight the dry heaves.

Hope it all works out for them and they have epic fishing and safe trip. But I bet there are some willing to pay another $400 to come back right now.:yak5:

Bronko 09-08-2012 12:51 PM

Might be worth taking a drive down and talking with the crew and customers as the get off the boat as they will have first hand accounts as to what it was like down there. Then multiply it x 2.

I wonder if the plan will be the same as last year in this weather: troll the afternoon, anchor up at dusk and chunk all night and then troll in the morning. Can they troll in this kind of weather? What would be the safest and most productive mode of fishing?

thefishingfreak 09-08-2012 05:33 PM

The weather Bouy out there is saying swell

RIROCKHOUND 09-08-2012 05:45 PM

having seen 20 out there earlier this year, it will be sloppy... SE swell, west moving eddy, SSW wind... won;t be 10ft, but even a 100ft boat will be rolling a bit....

striperman36 09-08-2012 06:00 PM

that boat is a little skinny too. Fortunately, this squall line won't reach them, it's breaking up as it heads east
