Thanks for the welcome. A friend was talking about a 5# striper thinking it was good sized. Its OK for a local lake fish. I've been spoiled. All I can remember is line peelling off and the size of the fish we caught and my sons grin last spring. Havent gone north to look for bigger fish yet. 5-15 thru 5-21 RJinHull will put me up. till then I work and plan but live through you guys.

Well, here it is #1. I've been lurking for quite some time so it's about time I become active.

Slow pick today...

Tidalist 01-16-2007 12:56 PM

Hi all,

Fairly new to the site, so have been lurking for the most part. I'm a fly and kayak fisherman on the North Shore, and am counting the days until I can wet the lines again. Tying flies and repairing rods/reels only gets you so far!

JohnR 01-16-2007 02:56 PM

Welcome to S-B :btu:

I will come out with something for this weekend to "award" lurker incentives :hee:

Hey SkyKing - what pic is that in your avatar?

SlingBlades 01-16-2007 10:59 PM

:err: My name is SlingBlades and I am a lurker....Whew, I feel better now.

New to chasing the stripers in the salt. Been fishing all my life, mostly LMB and some freshy stripers. Got back into saltwater after a hiatus of about 5 years. Love it again. Was referenced to the site by Thumb-burner, who says it is great for advice on plug building.

Born in NC and lived there all my life. Hope to see some of you at the OBX. Thanks.

Raven 01-16-2007 11:02 PM

hey Slingblades

welcome to S-B...:btu:

thought them freshies were getting up to 40 lbs down there..:spin:

I think that a/c was flown by Lt. Carl Hayes, of Binghamton, NY. 61st fighter squad...P-47D...I might be wrong....but then again.....

Good eye. I couldn't make out an A/C porky enough at that angle...

Good Google:
Quote:

Littlefriends.co.uk Lt. Carl E Hayes, Binghampton, NY. 61st Fighter Squadron. P-47D 42-7860 HV-J “Chow Hound”. Although the name was never applied to the a/c., Lt Hayes had the artwork design prepared by the unit artist.
But in the case of this picture it was or that was a different aircraft...

Thanks Raven

Some good freshy fishing isn't too far from where I live, but to get the biguns you need to go out of state. Have a friend who goes (to TN) in the spring when they run in the rivers (and are heavy with eggs.) Numerous fish in the 50's with a personal best at 61.

John that is my father on his P-47 he flew in WW2 in Europe. We also have a short film clip from his wing camera on one of his missions. It took my brothers and me a long time to figure out the nose art. Yeah right.

skyking 01-24-2007 08:19 AM

Was it something I said:wave: I come out of lurker mode and this thread dies. This aint going to look good on my resume!

EricM 01-24-2007 09:41 AM

Wasn't anything you said. Maybe we have to do more to convince people that life after Lurking is jimdandy...perhaps we should start our posts by saying "Its been 15 days since I last lurked and I feel great..."

Gotta beat the lurk-addiction one day at a time...

BW from AZ 01-24-2007 10:44 AM

Know how you feel. killed several threads myself so far. that said i keep trying.

Slipknot 01-24-2007 11:22 AM

Welcome all lurkers and new guys :wavey:

JohnR 01-24-2007 12:10 PM

The only real thread killer is NIB (well, and me :wall: ) :rotf3:

I know I said I'd have something up over the weekend but I've been a bit under the weather so to speak so this weekend :musc:

EricM 02-13-2007 12:52 PM

Rockfish9 02-13-2007 12:59 PM

ccarey 02-16-2007 04:05 PM

Hello all I am a new lurker here just trying to learn as much as possible.

Diamondwrapper 02-17-2007 06:29 AM

I'm usually on the boards a little south of here but I take a peek at this site almost every day. :scatter: I might even take a ride up for the R.I show.
