These are the days of the "earned" fish....

It will be in the high 30's where I'm heading tonight and the wind should drop enough so it will be somewhat comfortable. Hopefully I'll be able to "earn" a couple tonight because I'll be hanging it up pretty soon. I still think there's some good fishing to be had on the Cape and definitely in RI.

I'll be heading out in my tin boat at early dawn tomorrow. Nutin like zipping along at 20 in an open boat with the temp in the low 30's. I must be deranged. Going to have to remember my mittens with the string attached so they don't fall over board

Slow, cold going, but saw more fish today than I've seen for a month....which isn't saying much. Got enough to make the trip fun. These fish should be in RI shortly. No bait my way to hold them.
These Pentax w60 cameras suck when you need to use a timer.

Nice G. I hope they will be on there way to where I am going tomorrow. Not that far of a swim

Fished this morning in heavy surf with winds NNE around 20-25. Nothing from my usual perch. Then around 7am after walking off the rocks I notice about 20-30 birds diving and whirling about 100 yards down the beach about 150 yards off shore . A bunch of fat bass, probably in the 40-45" range crashing adult bunker. After several attempts to get into casting distance and 10 mouthfuls of salt-water I gave up. To rough when your fishing a east facing beach with 20-25 winds on the incoming.

Might have been my last chance at a decent fish and I blew it! Oh well.

Went out last weekend to do some early TW fishing,I had numorus blow ups and short strikes on my Zara Spook, but only managed one small rock before sun up.

Here is the one short I caught.I think its going to be awsome fall.

Nice pic. I've been looking into those w60's. Please explain your timer comment.

1) He needs a timer because nobody wants to fish with him, much less take his picture.

2) If he doesn't put up prima facie proof of his catches, some wise guy will question his claims.

3) The picture helps preserve his perceived prowess at catching fish on plugs when I know damn well he used an eel to catch that fish...

LOL. George is the man. Nutin this morning. Beautiful morning, although cold, perfect tin boat day,but it was very mellow out there. A few small fish and no bird action. Pretty dead.

I was on the beach the last time Numby used an eel: Around 1989 I think. We canoed out to the Nauset Point tip, because the new breach at Chatham created an island and stopped 4WD access. I was catching fish so fast that Numby took off his plug, grabbed an eel, and hooked a fish in 10 seconds. He thought it was cheating...

:laugha: I love it.

As for fishing this weekend, there was a highlight. My 4 year old caught his first bluefish yesterday at east beach. Alas, when you really need a camera none was present.

As for bass, there's plenty of micros and a few decent ones mixed in. I could only manage a 15# fish from the canal Friday night though. Will probably stick to days from here on in...

Took friday off and fished upper Buzz Bay and then Gay Head.

Lots of stripers still in and around Mass Maritime. My buddy lost a big fish on our second drift, practically bringing him to tears. No bird action but drifting eels and rubber sure did the trick.

Gay Head was all big bluefish, not one striper. These fish were puking up small butterfish and squid. I also snagged a few scup fishing lead heads off the bottom.

Water temps ranged from 54 down to 50 depending on where we were. Only bird action we saw was going home across Buzz Bay in between Nashuon and West Island. Blues and stripers chasing some sort of small baitfish.
