Hello All,
My name is Fred. I remember my Grandfather taking me fishing when I was about five years old. I'm 41 now and still fish to this day. It's not the same today as it was when I was a kid. I remember trying to scrape up enough money to buy a dozen sea worms and some hooks to go flounder fishing. I use to use nuts and washers as weights. I was born and raised in Quincy and bought the house I grew up in. I have worked at the same job now for 18 years. Let's just say it's adult day care. I don't have to use nuts and washers for weights or even a drop line. I don't know why but I still get pumped when I catch a flounder. I guess I'll nerver grow up. You can find me on VHF ch. 69. My boats name is " MOOSE-NUCKLE."

Hi, my name is Dave, I look like this guy:happy: . Live in Massachusetts now after a 10 year hiatus. (used to travel doing construction) Got back 5 years ago and started surf fishing again. I've been married for going on 12 years to my loving wife Mary. How she puts up with me I don't know, as I fish everytime I get the chance, usually 2 or 3 times a week from April through Oct. Then Its deer hunting season, she must be a saint.
I recently started making my own plugs and am going to swim them tomorrow to see how they do. This is as addictive as fishing.

Hi, I'm Brian. I'm 29 and I've been fishing since high school, went a lot as a kid too and can remember catching flounder off the A street peir. In HS I only fresh water fished and got into salt water around 96'. I mainly fish Boston Harbor.

I've been married for 2 years and have two children. I do Telecommunications for a living.

Time is moving too slow, must fish, having withdrawals.

My name is Dave... I live in Westport and wake up every morning to the drool inspiring view of the Westport river (drool puddles are larger in the winter due to lack of bass!!! ) I have been fishing as far back as my memory goes and I have been in love with stripers for about 10 years (when I caught my first at 12). I am a surf maniac if theres water I'll wade it. I fish eels, plugs and a little rubbah. Can't stand chunking :sleeps: too boring! I too have joined the plug building bandwagon and the addiction is well in place. I fish at least 3 times a week Late April through Late Novemeber and I look forward to fishing with many of you. Here's hoping a great season to us all!!!!

Hi, I am Joey. I live on the Southern tip of VA's Eastern Shore and I am a Conservation Officer. I like any kind of salt water fishing. I especially like using live mullet for flounder, trout, and stripers. I also like to catch spade fish and chunk bunker for cobia. I usually fish all along the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel and especially like the High Rise and the Third Island. I hope to start getting off shore to the wrecks this coming spring.

my name is Bob, 45, happily married (most of the time) 15 years to a beautiful and understanding wife and have two beautiful daughters 11 & 13. the whole family likes to fish, but are not as addicted as your truly.
i have lived in westport, massachusetts all my life so far, cept for a stint in the air force in the 70's. Started fishing saltwater when i was nine and the first fish i caught was a 6 lb. tog off of stone bridge. i fished commercially for 12 years for red crabs and ran the boat for the last five years. we fished the edge of the continental shelf in 400 fathoms, hauling and setting traps like lobster pots only a tad larger year round. i quit fishing commercially in 92...no regrets. i currently work as a heavy duty truck mechanic, and am certified in all aspects of the job. i started my own truck refrigeration business about 2 years ago. i just havn't had the balls to venture out on my own yet.
as for fishing ..can't get enough of it. my primary species is striped bass. and there is nothing like being on a beach on a hot starry summer night and hearing your drag go off, or the tap on your eel.

so welcome to all the new people here. you are definately going to like this place!

Hi, My real name is Joe,and I am 40 years young. I was born in New London Ct and my family is from NY. I have lived in Mass since I was 5 years old and have always love the ocean. Started fishing with my dad at a very young age. Started from shore. Use to go over the railroad tracks behind Maco Bait and catch flounder all day long.
I really got into the fishing about 10 years ago with a friend Manny, He taught me just about everything I no. He was killed in a car crash 2 years ago and he is sadly missed.
I got the name Macojoe fishing with a friend about 30 miles off sure when a maco grabed my cod on the way up, He was 6 feet long and I will never forget that as long as I live.
I mostly fish the Vinyard. There is nothing like this pace any where. You can go there and catch Fluke, Bass, Sea Bass, Scup, Tog, Banito,Blues all in the same day.
I have a Wellcraft V20 steplift. It is old but I love this boat,so much so I have just about finished converting it from an I/O to a outboard. I have a 175 Yamaha for it and will be ready May 1.
I found this site because I started building some of my own rods and was looking for some info to make it easier. I went to search typed rod building forum and here I am.
I have been Married for 22 years now I have a son 17 and a daughter 14. My daughter has applyed to the lower cape tec and wants to take up, are you ready Marine Macanhic!! So I guess you can tell who she takes after.
This is a great site and I am glad I found it. I would like to get my six pac and do some guiding. But we will see what happens. I fish Commercial for the Bass and The fluke. I don't make much. I am more interested in the fun but I have to suport this habit a little:laughs:
Well Thats it.Pretty boring stuff.
Later Macojoe

Hey Folks,

I'm Rob, I'm in my mid-30', live in CT, and like John, I'm married to a wonderful woman who puts up with A LOT of crap from me!

I just started fishing again last year, after about 20 yrs off. Back in the day, I was a fresh-water basser but got the taste for salt last fall.

I'm almost done wrapping my first rod and hope to build another before I hit the surf this year. I'll also be fishing outta' a' yak' this season - Yellow Tarpon 160.

And... Although I missed the shin-dig, I WILL be harassing some of you in person this spring - so be forewarned! ;)

Regards,
Rob

Notaro 03-03-2003 01:30 PM

hey macojoe, welcome to the board. you have a boat? that's great because we all can stay on your boat for fishing. just kidding. so do you catch flounder on the railroad track behind maco's? are you still catching them now? behind the maco, i mean.

macojoe 03-03-2003 02:50 PM

Hey Notaro
You have not been able to catch flounder there for years now. But was great in the day. There might be some there but i have never got there in years.
Yes I have a 20 foot boat and would like to meet a few people from the board. I always have room for someone who wants to go.
Maybe a bunch of us guys who have boats can invite people who don't have boats and meet up somewhere for a day of fishing?
Any how if anyone would like to go to the vinyard sometime just email me and we will see if we can set something up. I usualy go commercial and have a boat permit that covers everyone on board. So pleanty of fish to go around.
Later Macojoe

Hi, I'm Dave and I'm addicted to fishing(at least thats what my wife says). I live in R.I. and have 4 ever. I'm 37 years young and am a Chrysler tech. I have 3 kids, I've been fishing since I was a kid, fresh & salt. I fish mostly salt now for the past 12 years or so. I have a 20 ft. center console that I bought new in 2000 and I love it dearly. My wifes famous quote is "Well you bought that stupid boat" whenever she wants to buy something expensive. How can anyone call a boat stupid? I mostly fih alone because I can't get anyone to get up at 4 am to go fishing. I fish Narr. Bay, Point Jude, and Block Island at times. If any of you guys ever want to hook up, let me know.

Hello to all. My name is Bob or Bull as the guys at work call me. I have been fishing for as long as I can remember. My father was a firefighter and fished commercially as side job. I have lobstered, longlined, gillnetted, scalloped, swordfished, and otter trawled (dragging). I skippered my own boats for many years when I was younger. Now Dad and I fish a small inshore scalloper.

Presently, I am employed full time as a Lieutenant with the Plymouth (MA) Fire Department. I work out of our Manomet Station. We are located about 300 yards from the beach. I retired 4 years ago from Boston Edison. I was employed as a Fire Protection Engineer at their Pilgrim Nuclear Power Station. I was able to spend many days before and after work catching stripers and blues at the discharge canal for the Plant. As a result of Sept 11 that freedom no longer exist.

Today I spend equal amounts of time fishing the Canal, Plymouth's many miles of coastline, and our large harbor. If you come across a 6'8" 300 plus pound guy in shorts, Plymouth Fire tank top, and sandals fishing any of the above locations come say hello. I'll be happy to show you around.
