GB,
You can take the ? off my name, the only question will be the number. I should have an answer for you guys soon.
How's the kitchen in the VFW look? Maybe I can take a ride down to Bucko's next week and check it out while I'm down there.
Any info would help, though.
Later,
Rick

Van 01-20-2003 08:42 AM

John/GB:

Just a thought, but how about a small prize for the tastiest food
brought in. We always did that at "pot luck" dinners at tournaments.

It's nice for recognition and a bit of competition....

V.

BEETLE 01-20-2003 11:34 AM

As well as the plates, utensils, napkins, I was asked to bring, do you guys need cups also.

I am also going to rummage around in the cellar and bring a few items for the raffle table.

I'm in. Tell me what you'll need, even if last minute.

Bliz 01-20-2003 03:26 PM

How about some cups?...

BEETLE 01-20-2003 04:14 PM

In my post 2 previous from yours, i offered cups, GBoutdoors asked me to bring the plates utensils and napkins, so make sure you tell SLIP and MTNBRZ to just bring their food items.

mikecc 01-20-2003 04:23 PM

this the items I am donating to the raffle.
it is 2 Rapala 60 Lock'n weigh (lip Gripper/with a 60Lb scale)
they are made of High grade Stainless Steel and the 60Lb scale is IGFA Certifiable

Saltheart 01-20-2003 04:37 PM

Those look like nice lip grips mike!

Don , don't forget Smokey. His names seems to be appearing and disappearing from the list. We are both bringing soda and the jigs we are donating for the raffle was originally listed as from the both of us..

Oh yes also more fish tales than swim in the sea:laughs: :laughs: :laughs: This is going to be the S-B get together to top all get togethers so don't miss out sign up now as we are getting close to the 100 mark and the hall limit. Oh and don't forget all the great help with plates/ cups and things.

Bliz 01-21-2003 07:52 AM

GB,

CLAMDIGGER has offered to donate photography (either a lighthouse or ocean scene) for the event as well!

Thanks Mike!

As GB has mentioned, we are getting close to the limit for the hall, so if you have not signed up, NOW is the time to do so!

There are so many amazing people that have volunteered to make this a spectacular event!

Thanks to everyone!!! :)

Between Fisheye's video presentation, the raffles, prizes, food, fishing tales and other events, this will be SB's first of it's kind event!...

I'm sure that we will see Bloo's ticket design posted up in the distant future looking back on this evening as a type of milestone for the site!...

Now is the time to step forward to be a part of this!

So, if you have not put your name in to reserve yourself a ticket,
please let us know that we may add your name to the list!

Again, thanks to everyone who has made this event an inevitable success!... :D

Saltheart 01-21-2003 08:43 AM

Good job by everyone who stepped up to the plate to organize this. It really is a big event and wouldn't have happened without the guys spearheading the effort.

From the tourneys , to the barbecues to this big event , there have always been guys who stepped up and helped out. That willingness to get involved and help out is one of the bigs things that makes everything so successful around here! :)

DRUMCORPFAN 01-21-2003 10:13 AM

great to be a part of s-b :D looking forward to this event.

BLOOCRAB-1-2?
...Due to the fact that I'm scheduled to work every 3rd weekend, it appears that I'll be working that weekend so unfortunately my name will have to be scratched off the list :( :(

I have spoken to an S-B member about delivering my donation, ... I hope you all have a great time, lots of laughs....and most importantly...A SAFE RIDE HOME!

Gilly~ (A.K.A. Bloo - , in more ways than one. :( :crying: )

Bliz 01-21-2003 11:28 AM

NO!!!!!!!!!:crying: :crying:

Say it isn't so!

We are going to miss not having you there Gilly!

:(

bloocrab 01-21-2003 11:41 AM

Thanks for the kind words Don, :)

Unfortunately, my manager emails us our schedules late. I've been reluctant to give a "Yes or No /attend" because I was hoping I'd get lucky. I spoke with him earlier today and he confirmed that I was working. I'm still glad I could contribute in someway.

again, Have Fun and Be SAFE!! ;)

Bliz 01-21-2003 12:01 PM

Gilly,

Is there any way to rework your schedule?... perhaps swap a weekend with someone?...

I was really hoping that you would be there, and I know that JohnR was going to ask if You & GB would be the Masters of Ceremony for the event...

As much as I appreciate all your help, I and many others would much rather see you at the event on the 15th...

IT AINT OVER TIL IT'S OVER!!!

bloocrab 01-21-2003 12:35 PM

Don,

...there's only 3 of us who work this entire area, (the radius from Swansea - Norton - PTown - Martha's Vineyard)...and I've spoken to one of the possible 2, and he said "sorry Charlie"... and I'm pretty sure the "other" is going to sell me the same story (although I plan on giving it a shot again tomorrow) - I've even offered some $$ for the switch. My co-workers don't understand that "one hand washes the other"..and I've done my share of washing,... Unfortunately, we're not all raised the same. I was taught, or brought up to try and be helpful when you can and the Lord will repay you tenfold...some people only think in 1 dimension. I've always been told that I think in Layers... I try my best, thats all I can say.

Thanks again Don,

Bloo~

Bloo - that would certainly SUCK but you'll be there in spirit even if it's not in person. Are you on call where you might be able to sneak over? Or are you stuck on help desk?

Hope things change but we understand if you can't make it over :(

>>> On another note, me & the family have been alternating sick since the beginning of last week, mainly my son (who is better now) but I've been really out of whack since Friday so I have not been online much (and it pains me to now :yak: )... I've been out of work for over a week now and hopefully plan to get in tomorrow, Thursday at the latest...

So there have been a few e-mails and messages that I have not been able to get to and people I'm supposed to call but it's going to be a few days before anything really happens...

LMAO...:laughs: I just finished seeing that part on the tube, and I'll take the parfait anyday or better yet, princess Fiona ;) hubba hubba!!...lololol...

John, FYI, there are 2 NASTY VIRUSes going around....and NO, I'm not talking about a computer virus either. The 1st one I know of...gives you incredible stomach pains (similar to food poisoning I'm told)..and its accompanied by light-headedness, vomitting, and diarhea.

The other is a Flu-Strain that produces a very high fever and of course all the other flu-related symptoms.

Fortunatley, I have neither of these. I'm stuck home with a blown-out lower back, and the same movies all day...X-rays tomorrow.

..thank you, and Yes, there is a possibility of me stopping by...

JohnR 01-21-2003 06:39 PM

Bloo - I have the former. It's supposedly that Norwalk Virus running around Boston. My son had a touch of it along with 2 ear infections and this all started last week. Well, last week was when my wife started her new job. So she couldn't miss any time so I stayed home with him Monday & Tues, went to work Wednesday, back home on Thursday and I've had it since Friday. SUCKS too but I won't go into any details. But some nasty &*$&#!

Hmmm, Princess Fiona, I think she's my son's first crush....

TheSpecialist 01-21-2003 07:46 PM

I would like to add that the first also makes you carsick. Oh and stock up on the baby wipes. :smash: :yak:

JohnR 01-22-2003 11:07 AM

I've had it and m son's had - fortunately my wife has not and hopefully she doesn't get it :(

Bliz 01-22-2003 02:17 PM

Bloo,

Have you had any luck with reworking your schedule?...

bloocrab 01-23-2003 02:06 AM

...yes, I've had some .........

....ALL BAD!! :( >> no good << ...but a small chance of sneaking by for a 1/2 or 2 ... . . .. . . .'.'.'.

fishsmith 01-23-2003 04:52 PM

I hope you got mine,

"checks in the mail !!!":smash:

redcrbbr 01-28-2003 09:41 AM

just wondering if they will have enough tables and chairs there or should we think about rounding some up?

alr 01-28-2003 10:12 AM

Along w/ the address getting buried I thing dir. were there also so in case your wondering:
VFW 508997-1707, 109 Middle St. Fairhaven MA

The Holiday Inn is right across the street, 508 997-1281
Hampton Inn is a couple of miles up the road 508 990-8500

For those travelling East on I-195(from RI) take the rt. 18 downtown New Bedford exit. Stay in the right lane, take the third right, FAIRHAVEN, bear left and you will soon cross the infamous New Bedford/Fairhaven bridge. Stay in the right lane, at the traffic light bear right. The VFW is right there on your left.

For those West bound(Cape) you will go over the Acushnet River and take the rt. 18 downtown NewBedford exit(2nd right after the river) Take your third right, Fairhaven, bear left, cross the New Bedford/Fairhaven bridge. Stay in the right lane, at the traffic light bear right. The VFW is right there on your left.

For folks like slip travelling from Middleboro you may want to come in by the "backroads". Take rt. 105 thru Lakeville, stay straight travelling through the waterworks and Quitticas, continue straight thru the 4 way intersection South bound into Acushnet. If you come in from North Ave., Rochester bear left at this intersection(you will have the stop sign). After about 5 mi. you will be in the center of Acushnet and a 4way stop sign. Bear left for about 2 mi., 'till you hit a traffic light. Continue straight until another light. Bear right here and get in the left lane and bear left at the next traffic light which is only a few yards ahead of the last light. The VFW is right on your left.

This is more than I have typed in years and is hopefully correct, however, there maybe a senior moment in here somewhere so......... that being said if you need clarification PM me and I will give you my # and hopefully not confuse you much more than I already have.

JohnR 01-28-2003 12:30 PM

Thank you very much sir! I needed that :hihi:
