 make sure you set up near us.

tynan19 01-17-2011 06:45 PM

Have sleds will travel.

Rappin Mikey 01-17-2011 07:54 PM

It's gonna be like a strong man competition pulling the gear out there. That will keep you warm for the first hour or so. Bring your mittens!

WESTPORTMAFIA 01-17-2011 08:36 PM

I may have to dig out my old Artic Cat Cougar for this one. I didn't want to bring it but she may have to tag along.

RickBomba 01-18-2011 06:34 AM

Looks like there's gonna be a big pocket of warmer rain that pushed up between Worcester and Springfield between 2 to 8 today. We might get lucky and have it pack some of the snow down. We'll see...

striperman36 01-18-2011 07:56 AM

More snow on top though Friday

Rob Rockcrawler 01-18-2011 08:18 AM

Looks like epic conditions for the Tabbit. Maybe we can get Jim Cantore out there.

striperman36 01-18-2011 08:23 AM

I'll send him an email. He went to school in NH.

Do we have a logo or something?

Just got off the phone with accuweather, they are thinking MAJOR storm based on the latest models.
Here;s the NAM model 78 hours. Bring the trailers

TwisterData.com | NAM 2 M ABOVE GROUND TMPF Forecast

tynan19 01-18-2011 10:44 AM

I will be charging $5 a head for a taxi ride out onto the ice lol. Gear included. Problem will be parking the trailer since I will probably bring two sleds.

mag minnow 01-19-2011 07:18 AM

This may turn into "Survival of the Fittest' as opposed to a fishing derby... : )

JohnR 01-19-2011 07:47 AM

Extra kids division maybe? Seeing as we'll have a fair amount of Yutes.

Yah Mule..Yah :lasso:

Rob Rockcrawler 01-19-2011 06:57 PM

I checked the ice on my lake today. 6" of slush on top of 6-7" of perfect black ice. It was a bit messy but solid underneath.

Hopefully that slush will set up before the snow comes.

RickBomba 01-19-2011 07:59 PM

Looks like you may need the cleats after all!

JackK 01-19-2011 09:06 PM

Or flippers!

RickBomba 01-20-2011 03:29 PM

I think we'll just be doing the 5 biggest bass, 5 biggest pickeral and 3 wildcards, and maybe we can talk about how we want to set the kids' prizes up for next year.

JackK 01-20-2011 03:50 PM

Who all will be out there early? I think I'm going to drive out there tonight to avoid the snow that's supposed to be coming tomorrow. Anything going on Friday night?

RickBomba 01-20-2011 04:33 PM

I just talked to Mark and he says that there's LOTS of slush out there. He says it's gonna be messy and wet. I strongly encourage everybody to wear waterproof boots!

See ya out there!
Rick

The Dad Fisherman 01-20-2011 04:36 PM

they're talking 2 degrees for friday night into saturday....gotta feeling the slush won't be an issue

Thats what I'm thinking. It sounds like it should actually be pretty good.

Jack,
We'll be out there at the Super 8 by about 4 tomorrow. Give me a call at 781 439 1918 if you want to hang out.
Thanks,
Rick

striperman36 01-20-2011 07:50 PM

I'm not sure what you mean by this Striperman...are the Wx guys are the "Westport guys?"

striperman36 01-20-2011 08:04 PM

No they're in Taunton and the punted to the 2nd shift to make the call.

striperman36 01-20-2011 08:19 PM

they're whimping 4-8" Friday AM only probably less for central mass. single digits Friday Night and 20's during the day with windchills below 0F possible.

Now way 6-8 on top with the wind. It's supposed to be light fluffy stuff with wind. The slush will be set hard with the cold ass temps. The WM-WC calls for easy walking out to set up for Tabbit but warns sharp nipples will cause layer interruption leading to frost bite. So dress warm.

striperman36 01-20-2011 10:36 PM

marines don't do snow. Brimfield is 6-8" with wind less than 12 knots through Saturday soldier.

Leave the nipple rings at home.

Easy walking!!!. I tossed my nipple rings on my last surgery (spine in the foot) WM is Westportmafia nothing to do with marines. So you are saying 6-8 on top of frozen slush? I don't think so. Maybe in the neighbors yard but not in the frozen cove we will be fishing. I'm calling easy access. If not.. I owe Billy a plug:)

mag minnow 01-21-2011 04:51 AM

Who's ready for this thing? I thnk I'll need to pack a shovel along with everything else...

Rob Rockcrawler 01-21-2011 04:59 AM

Im ready, tried the new hand auger last night. Nils Master high speed, that thing is scary fast. Just a heads up to anyone coming, i know we are all responsible people but i need to caution everyone about the sturbridge police force. They win all sorts of awards every year for bagging tons of people for DUI, they are in force all the time. So just be careful out there.

mag minnow 01-21-2011 05:05 AM

So I'm not the only guy left in the world who still uses a hand auger...I have a Lazer and a Mora, both 6" that I typically use. Unfortuneately, I usually don't need a hole bigger than 6" to get the fish out of the ponds...

mag minnow 01-21-2011 05:08 AM

Rob,
I see your local, any idea what the Bait Shop hours are out by you? Someone suggested The Sportsman's Cellar...Any other spots to pick up bait?

Thanks,

Rob Rockcrawler 01-21-2011 08:15 AM

He is the only place in town that i am aware of. There is someone off of Champeaux Rd a bit past the lake but i dont know anything about them. I believe the sportsman cellar is open at 6. No later than that.

That's why we didn't drive a mile to party with the Bomba's last year. We were warned by the hotel and a convenience store that the cops do nothing but bag DUI's all day and night. Where did you get the Nils? I can't find them in stock anywhere. I need to hook up with you at some point and drill a hole with that thing. I saw a video that I was very impressed with. I have a gas auger but wouldn't mind a hand like that for trout and salmon fishing.

Yup,
This is why we just get there and stay Friday and get to the ice and back on Saturday. Not a place to be F-d with!
