Al Kooper/Mike Bloomfield Super Sessions
Joe Satriani double CD
Old Laura Nyro with Patti Labelle - you won't be sorry....

This is great - it'll keep me busy for awhile....thanks!

But never when fishing...I need to be at oneness with the all.....

That very first Paul Butterfield album is the greatest!

Damn - can't remember the other guys, gotta be the early onset Old-timers Disease

Maybe it will come to me here....

Steve Katz, Danny Kalb on guitar soon replaced by the late, great Mike Bloomfield on guitar in the Super Sessions Band with Kooper.

And let's not forget that Steven Stills sat in on Super Sessions.

Al Kooper had to be one of my favotites. How about a kid Al discovered by the name of Shuggy Otis. Google him. UNBELIEVABLE jammin' blues

ProfessorM 09-23-2008 02:00 PM

I think this is Al Kooper and Mike Bloomfield's best song. I just happen to be was listening to it last nite.

If you like that you have to be a fan of Roy Buchanan. As it was with way too many of the greats they fought many demons and died way before there times. M. Bloomfield heroin and Roy by suicide .

Uhmm ....

Eric Clapton - Crossroads II - Live in the 70s - this four-disc compellation has some of the greatest live guitar work this guy has ever done ... I have definitely lost some hearing over that album, too loud but too emotional as well ... gets me so pumped up, the red bull can barely keep up with the music ... discs 1 and 2 are my favorites ... great, great guitar work ...

*Anything reggae
*Anything Allman Brothers
*Of course the Doors Peace Frog ...
*Santana - always enjoy Carlos Santana's guitar work ...
*yes Neil Young - cortez the Killer is also a great tune and listened to it today ...

the list goes on for ever, but those are what are in my car right now ... although sometimes I will have jimmy buffet in there too - from my south florida days ...walk down the docks in any marina and that is all you here playing from the boats ...

... never have the music when I am fishing ... don't want to cut myself off from hearing what's happening on or in the water ... need all my senses going especially when dopped up on Red Bull

ProfessorM 09-24-2008 09:26 AM

Procol Harum is one of the first vinyl I ever bought. I am a hugh Robin Trower fan. IMO one of the best, somewhat unknown, rock guitarists ever. I put him ahead of many of the more well know players of the time. Gary Brooker was also great on piano and had an excellent voice. They had some fairly popular comm. hits but I really liked the song Simple Sister, 1971, with Trower on guitar, his last album with them. A classic tune and guitar sound. Another great album they did was Exotic Birds and Fruit. I highly doubt it but if anyone has this in cd I would love a copy and be very indebted to you:uhuh: This song rocks,

In the first video Trower is not on it. This guy is Dave Ball who replaced him. Not too shabby but not Robin Trower though. Luv the SG.

The real McCoy,with Trower, is below it but no video just studio cut.

Professor :kewl: I was a huge Procol Harum fan.....

There Live album with the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra is awesome....great versions of "Conquistador" as well as "A Salty Dog"....this I have on CD

I still have (I Think) Gary Brookers solo album, on vinyl, "No More Fear of Flying" great version of "Say it Ain't So, Joe" on it.

ProfessorM 09-24-2008 10:03 AM

Salty Dog is great. Gary Ball is on that live album I do believe. He is very good. What I am looking for specificly is 2 songs. The Idol and Strong as Samson. Limewire has come up empty.

Walk Among Us is a great album. The Misfits are another great old punk band. The stuff with Danzig is best, but Jerry Only recorded some decent songs when he took over the band.

The Youngbloods, Aztec Two Step, It's A Beautiful Day
Nice for easy listening

King Crimson to bring back my foggy memories

Brian Augers Oblivion Express is pretty unknown

we just put on Sirrus Blues 74 when we're out. We found that a slow day of fishing and tackle problems with Octane 20 don't mix.

An earlier Fleetwood Mac "Mystery to Me". Every song's great!

STILLS, the very best acoustic guitarist of the modern era ~imho~
outside of the Mississippi blues dudes who inspired a young Stephen.
here is one of his GEMS from back in the day, 1976.Tree Top Flyer

STILLS LIVE ~ double LIVE album with an acoustic and electric side
some of the finest acoustic work recorded in an era of heavy metal.
his Crossroads/You Can't Catch Me medley stills gives me goose bumps!!

Frankiesurf 09-28-2008 10:46 AM

Primus, Clutch, Slayer, David Bowie ( in his mod and glam days not the 80's stuff, even he doesn't play that crap anymore) Old Rockabilly like Gene Vincent, 70's punk like the Ramones, Stooges, Heartbreakers, Pistols etc, Street punk like Casualties, the clap, bouncing souls, Old Hardcore when it was real hardcore, Old thrash and metal. I could go on but I think you get it.

One thing I can't do is listen to music while fishing, unless I am at the beach with my wife and drinking some frosty ones with lead and skate food marinating in the suds.
