Merrimac sport has them in stock. We got the last one but he said he was getting 10 more in today. After testing it last night, I gotta say its as fast or faster than most gas augers I've used. Pretty wild piece of equipment!

That's why we didn't drive a mile to party with the Bomba's last year. We were warned by the hotel and a convenience store that the cops do nothing but bag DUI's all day and night. Where did you get the Nils? I can't find them in stock anywhere. I need to hook up with you at some point and drill a hole with that thing. I saw a video that I was very impressed with. I have a gas auger but wouldn't mind a hand like that for trout and salmon fishing.

Just ordered the last 8inch he had. He said it was their last shipment for the year. He's been shipping them all over the states because nobody can keep them in stock. Thanks for the heads up.

When I got off the ice yesterday there was 4-6 inches of wet slush. The lake varies with snow, crust and slush. Thinking the snow would certainly stay on the lake as all the other storms have as well. The parking area before the snow was in great shape. There is plenty of parking along the road as well. It is corps of engineers land so it wont be a problem to park. I may not be able to trailer with the little parking as the road is too narrow and I don't want to take up a few spots in the lot. Probably just bring one sled in the truck.

tynan19 01-21-2011 04:09 PM

Rick, when does the grill get fired up?

JackK 01-21-2011 04:15 PM

Lake has about 8-10" of snow on it, then a thin crust, then 3-4" of slush.8" of ice under that. Maybe if were lucky the slush will set up a bit tonight.

Lets pray that slush sets up overnight. I keep telling myself it's going to be great and easy to hike through. I hope I'm right. Its 26 now dropping all the way down to 5 by tonight. I still think we may be alright. Was that top layer of snow fluffy stuff?

How safe / dangerous is this?

Address:

24 Champeaux Rd, Fiskdale, Worcester, Massachusetts 01518

JackK 01-21-2011 05:42 PM

Should be fine... Rob and I just fished the lake near his house... I may have used up all my mojo early :smash:

Slush gets worse as you walk around on it, but there appears to be at least 8" of ice underneath the crapola.

Hey John... Can you bring some stickers? Hopefully there won't be any random women on bikes to steal mine this time :hidin:

Should be all fluff out there. and the single digits should set it up.
I am unfortunately stuck with a proposal to work on tomorrow, bummer.

tynan19 01-21-2011 07:46 PM

Problem is the snow acts like a blanket. If you have snowshoes bring them. Jack K does rob live on the lake?

If the Marines don't shoot me first

JackK 01-21-2011 08:10 PM

Snowshoes would be key. Very fluffy and light snow. Rob lives on a nearby lake, but we stopped and checked out brimfield while we were out buying all the shiners in Sturbridge.

On a side note, we'll have shiners for sale at the tourney. $30 a dozen ;)

Hi All!

The weather cooperated.
The fishing was good.
The catching was slow.
The tasting of home made brews was awesome!
It was nice to put handles to faces and meet people in person.
A much appreciated THANK YOU! to the organizers.

Tight lines,

PS
The Irish stew was so good I can now speak Gaelic. ;-)

Another great BBITT, awesome time, lots of good food, drink and people. I wish there were a few more flags but it doesnt really matter.

Rappin Mikey 01-23-2011 04:47 PM

uughh!

Jackbass 01-26-2011 05:15 PM

Well!!

I was there but I am an idiot. I went out with two of my buddies and they studied the lake and thought the south side of the bridge would be the ticket. We were there pretty early and as I made trip number two to the truck I realized everybody was fishing the north side of the bridge. We did manage 16 fish 3 bass and 13 pickerel. I feel like an anti social buffoon but to be honest by the time we set up started a fire and hiked across 6" of snow with 6" of slush underneath my fat a@# wasn't moving. I am bummed I missed out on the festivities across the way but we did catch a bunch of fish.

This is a video my friend mike put together of our day. Set to the Jimmy Houston theme song.
