marines don't do snow. Brimfield is 6-8" with wind less than 12 knots through Saturday soldier.

Leave the nipple rings at home.

Easy walking!!!. I tossed my nipple rings on my last surgery (spine in the foot) WM is Westportmafia nothing to do with marines. So you are saying 6-8 on top of frozen slush? I don't think so. Maybe in the neighbors yard but not in the frozen cove we will be fishing. I'm calling easy access. If not.. I owe Billy a plug:)

Who's ready for this thing? I thnk I'll need to pack a shovel along with everything else...

Rob Rockcrawler 01-21-2011 04:59 AM

Im ready, tried the new hand auger last night. Nils Master high speed, that thing is scary fast. Just a heads up to anyone coming, i know we are all responsible people but i need to caution everyone about the sturbridge police force. They win all sorts of awards every year for bagging tons of people for DUI, they are in force all the time. So just be careful out there.

mag minnow 01-21-2011 05:05 AM

So I'm not the only guy left in the world who still uses a hand auger...I have a Lazer and a Mora, both 6" that I typically use. Unfortuneately, I usually don't need a hole bigger than 6" to get the fish out of the ponds...

mag minnow 01-21-2011 05:08 AM

Rob,
I see your local, any idea what the Bait Shop hours are out by you? Someone suggested The Sportsman's Cellar...Any other spots to pick up bait?

Thanks,

Rob Rockcrawler 01-21-2011 08:15 AM

He is the only place in town that i am aware of. There is someone off of Champeaux Rd a bit past the lake but i dont know anything about them. I believe the sportsman cellar is open at 6. No later than that.

That's why we didn't drive a mile to party with the Bomba's last year. We were warned by the hotel and a convenience store that the cops do nothing but bag DUI's all day and night. Where did you get the Nils? I can't find them in stock anywhere. I need to hook up with you at some point and drill a hole with that thing. I saw a video that I was very impressed with. I have a gas auger but wouldn't mind a hand like that for trout and salmon fishing.

Yup,
This is why we just get there and stay Friday and get to the ice and back on Saturday. Not a place to be F-d with!

Need a different address, that one had no match found on my GPS. Also anybody need a ride from the cape area?

JackK 01-21-2011 12:26 PM

Merrimac sport has them in stock. We got the last one but he said he was getting 10 more in today. After testing it last night, I gotta say its as fast or faster than most gas augers I've used. Pretty wild piece of equipment!

Just ordered the last 8inch he had. He said it was their last shipment for the year. He's been shipping them all over the states because nobody can keep them in stock. Thanks for the heads up.

tynan19 01-21-2011 04:09 PM

When I got off the ice yesterday there was 4-6 inches of wet slush. The lake varies with snow, crust and slush. Thinking the snow would certainly stay on the lake as all the other storms have as well. The parking area before the snow was in great shape. There is plenty of parking along the road as well. It is corps of engineers land so it wont be a problem to park. I may not be able to trailer with the little parking as the road is too narrow and I don't want to take up a few spots in the lot. Probably just bring one sled in the truck.

tynan19 01-21-2011 04:09 PM

Rick, when does the grill get fired up?

JackK 01-21-2011 04:15 PM

Lake has about 8-10" of snow on it, then a thin crust, then 3-4" of slush.8" of ice under that. Maybe if were lucky the slush will set up a bit tonight.

Lets pray that slush sets up overnight. I keep telling myself it's going to be great and easy to hike through. I hope I'm right. Its 26 now dropping all the way down to 5 by tonight. I still think we may be alright. Was that top layer of snow fluffy stuff?

How safe / dangerous is this?

Address:

24 Champeaux Rd, Fiskdale, Worcester, Massachusetts 01518

JackK 01-21-2011 05:42 PM

Should be fine... Rob and I just fished the lake near his house... I may have used up all my mojo early :smash:

Slush gets worse as you walk around on it, but there appears to be at least 8" of ice underneath the crapola.

Hey John... Can you bring some stickers? Hopefully there won't be any random women on bikes to steal mine this time :hidin:

Should be all fluff out there. and the single digits should set it up.
I am unfortunately stuck with a proposal to work on tomorrow, bummer.

tynan19 01-21-2011 07:46 PM

Problem is the snow acts like a blanket. If you have snowshoes bring them. Jack K does rob live on the lake?
