THE CATALOG HAS BEEN FOUND
All you guys that have been bugging me to find the catalog for the popper mouth balls, you can thank Prof Moriarty for bugging me more than anybody and making me go dig through the stack. Murphys law always says a catalog you need is on the bottom or real close to it in the stack :)
What we had talked about before was to do a group buy on these. Sizes they have are 1/8, 3/16, 1/4, 5/16, 3/8, 7/16, 1/2, 5/8, 3/4, 1, 1 1/4. I will check prices on them again, this catalog is 2 years old and the most expensive one was 21.36 for the 1.25 size. I had originally bought a bunch of the 1.25 size and them things been pisser this is how I cup all my poppers now with jigs. Done thousands on these now and they're still wicked sharp. 1/4" shank so it fits in a drill press perfect. You guys that wanted them reply here with # and sizes you want and I'll call these guys on Monday and get a price from them for a quantity buy. |

I have a selection of ball rasps now that I got online for short money. I put the ball rasp in the drill chuck in my headstock, slow the spindle way down and cup the poppers by hand.
That's why all you guys that have my poppers should know they are made with tender loving care, :) |
:btu: Charleston poppers (engineered to catch fish).
|

I called today and got floored. Guy said individual pieces were now 50.55 each and if we did qty he said $38.50 each. I told him to sharpen his pencil and check firm prices and call me back with leadtime and with the prices on each size. If he don't call me by Wednesday I'm calling him back. I think he'll do better I told him roughly 25 pieces of the 1.25 size so lets see what he comes up with.
|
The price from Fulton Tool where I bought my ball rasps for the 1.250 dia. is $29.75.
|
I had a feeling they were going to be more expensive. Cutting tools in general have gotten more expensive. I was using a 2 fluted 1.25 ball end mill and it was getting dangerous so I looked in the cat. for a 4 fluted one. 200 plus bucks, maybe I can convince my boss he needs to have one in stock:rolleyes: I don't care either way I need em. Paul
|
What is the exact name of that tool....maybe an internet search is in order :D
|
I don't want to butt in here but I had talked to the guys at Fulton tool about a volume buy. He said to give him some numbers!
Paul, these tools are actualy ball rasps. At a slow spindle spped they will cut a class smooth cup in cedar. I plunge the area with a forstner bit to rough it out than plunge it with the ball rasp. Then I will wlak the plug around the cutter for an offsett sut to allow me to do a cup laerger than the dia. of the rasp. They are rally a MUST HAVE tool in the plug shop. |
