OK, how would you rate July 2007

I'll go first.

Surf-I hardly got out this July and that's fine with me. For the few times I got out, I didn't do well at all fishing both eels and plugs:crying:

spence 07-27-2007 07:35 PM

Didn't fish a sinlgle time :crying: :crying: :crying:

If I could give it a rating lower than "F"......it would be "Z"!:bc:

Raider Ronnie 07-27-2007 07:50 PM

July, was very good for me !

good2hook 07-27-2007 07:53 PM

i can't remember if i've ever caught a keeper in july? usually don't fish for stripers in july. but this year has been different. broke the 30# barrier twice in the last week, and another 3 or 4 well over 34".... so i'd have to say pretty good, hope this is a sign of things to come.:uhuh:

redcrbbr 07-27-2007 08:06 PM

I have been shore fishing alot more than I have in the past few years and July has always been a slow month. This July was no exception, picked a few schoolies and would say no keepers for this month. I have noticed more activity this past week and actually caught a few more fish, blues and bass. August should be much better

RNC 07-27-2007 08:41 PM

July has been very good for me. Hopefully next week i'll hit a new milestone now that I found an area to snag bunker from shore to live line and maybe i'll break a new record for myself.

capecodkid 07-27-2007 08:43 PM

July wasn't that great for bass. Got my biggest of the month on July 1st which was 29lbs. Focused on tuna this month and succeeded.:hee:

flyben24 07-27-2007 08:48 PM

well im 1 for 2 at my new spot with a 15#.... other than that, average boat fishing

shadow 07-27-2007 09:33 PM

didn' get out much this July just got back from 10 days in Purto Rico. July is ussally good for me the little I did fish it was awful with the exception of one good fish.

hyefisherman2 07-27-2007 10:31 PM

slow from the surf, lots of keepers and schoolies but thats it

ridler72 07-27-2007 10:34 PM

Lots of zero's for the first 3 weeks. Picked up this week for two nice fish and then back to zero's. :faga:

It blew :yak4: :yak6:

As did June and most of May.

Seriously, I can't remember a season so piss-poor in the Canal. Not even when bass were in the crapper.

Sloooooowwwwwwwww......Made bluefishing exciting, tho.

OSSCA 07-28-2007 07:19 AM

Not as many big fish as may and june, otherwise not bad.

basswipe 07-28-2007 07:38 AM

Crappy...but coulda put in more time.

My last two outings over the past week have produced quantity but no quality to speak of.

Fall's on it way though!

bassballer 07-28-2007 07:58 AM

been spoty, buty have landed a couple decent fish. mostly schoolies but got my bigget of the year so far 38" last week. I know its not some of the cows that get posted here, but shes my biggest so far!

MrHunters 07-28-2007 08:04 AM

Missed fishing in May and 1/2 of June cause we moved to a semi "fixer upper" July had a bunch of shorts, I think I trailer the extra 8 miles for August on out to my old stomping grounds.

ilovetwofish 07-28-2007 08:08 AM

Long time lurker first post.......

I agree with above regarding blue fish.

I've lightened up my tackle considerably. I fish a 9' MH St Croix Avid and Quantum Cabo 40 with 20lb braid and it has changed my whole opinion of summer fishing.

I fish places with a fair amount of people bait fishing. While they are all bait fishing the bottom i'll drag lures across the surface targeting bluefish. Catching small blue fish on this set up is actually a lot of fun, especially if they jump out of the water which is fairly common.

I am however constantly watching the the rods in spikes up and down the beach. The first sign I see of stripers I switch over to soft plastics and have had moderate success, again no large fish that I see posted here but with the lighter tackle it is "almost" as fun.

Good Luck to all and remember July is almost over ..... False Albacore soon.

July 07

A continuation of June--- POOR --- at least in the surf and where I'm fishing. I've never seen anything like it.

jimmy z 07-28-2007 01:03 PM

I've made ten trips to SoCo this july. I have done well with bass. But what is surprising to me, is that I have not taken one blue fish. Now that is different!
