How many??

How many plug bags do each of you usualy have loaded ready to go?
Going through my stuff I noticed that I have four different plug bags loaded and ready, each loaded with carefully picked lures all meant for different times and places that I fish locally throughout the season.

cow tamer 04-09-2008 05:16 PM

I've got (7). All specialized and ready to go.

Adam_777 04-09-2008 05:24 PM

Must be....:cheers2: :bl:

I load a bag specifically for each trip. I consider it part of the challenge to pick the right plugs for a given night, spot, and conditions. I try to limit myself to a 3 tube bag though often I break down and carry a 5 tube bag .

DJ Muller 04-09-2008 07:18 PM

I found another one that I forgot about so I guess that makes 5
1). I use a standard all around bag that has a wide assortment of lures...ya never know what a new tide will bring. That would be the AS 12 slot, 2). I have an evening-tide river bag loaded with small poppers, small plastics, small bucktails w/twister tails, and of course shads. This is a small 3 slot AS bag, shorty (small lures). 3). We have had a lot of big ugly bluefish in the spring/summer when the big bunkys are around and I love catching them...at least until the big moo-moo's show. So I have a large VS bag loaded w/ all types of lures that I like to watch get cremated and anialated. Big wood poppers and the such, sometimes they only like wood swimmers. 4). Is one of my night bags when I go to a particular fast moving water spot. It carrys an assortment of black tins Pt. Jude and AOK as well as Tsunami TS Reverb rattle traps (they're great) and of course Sharpie treated shads. For this I carry another 3 tray AS, light and not burdensome. 5). My night bag when working the jetties and inlets in the dark. Loaded with dark plugs of wood and plastic, specifically blurple and white ML's.
All bags are loaded and ready for the switch from a morning on the rocks to a night in the river to a bluefish blitz the next afternoon. No panic or forgotten lures all ready to go.
I normally also carry a small AS pouch for 'shad control.' Or the big pouch for Slug-Go's.

Whew, all that makes me do this----> :eek5:

Adam_777 04-09-2008 07:26 PM

DJ after SWE show I had you pinned as a hardcore bait guy.You have bait soaking while plugging also ?

ilovetwofish 04-09-2008 07:44 PM

1 bag with 3 trays loaded with a assorment of stuff. Now when im on the boat the big bag comes out flies, plugs, swimmers, metal, plastic, and so on and so on.

Rob Rockcrawler 04-09-2008 07:46 PM

I keep a huge rubber maid rigged with slots for all my plugs in my truck. Then pick and choose what i need for a trip. 6 tube bag with way to much crap crammed in it.

spence 04-09-2008 07:53 PM

Two...

I keep my med Skinz bag loaded with what I need for the evening and the large skinz bag in the car with extra stuff.

If I'm headed say, to BI for the weekend, say, I leave both of them in the trunk and fish with a handfull of Scuds and ho'd plugs for the week :p

I am generally throwing eels.... but I do have a couple plug bags. If I am in a plugging mode I generally use the same bag, a 10 tube Cayon bag, that I will fill with what I think I'll need before I leave the house.

Adam-
Hardcore bait guy??? :rotflmao:

Somebody wasn't listening!! :sleeps:

Seriously, I said I chunk only when the chunking iron is red-hot for large (small window). It is the most reliable way to take big bass, a technique over looked by most.
To answer your question I only chunk when I chunk (despite what an upcoming article might say ), absolutely no plugging. Chunking offers you a shot at a (very) large so being 40 yards down the beach when you rod goes off is...ummm :hs: ...not something you want to do.

Which four if you don't mind?

cheferson 04-09-2008 08:53 PM

Whats a plug bag?

Mr. Sandman 04-10-2008 07:10 AM

I have several most are not used. I take two with me and leave one in the truck with a load of plano boxes.

After RISSA I see the ultimate backup bag I want for the vehicle...the jumbo Aquaskins, I can load that and be done-with-it. If I want to carry it on the beach however, I will need to hire a caddy, as it is a monster bag.

Schoolbus Bomber
Mag Darter
MAC Danny
Habs needlefish

Cranium 04-10-2008 07:30 AM

I have three, one big old school sail cloth bag, I fill with big plugs. two smaller ones that I fill with smaller plugs, plastic. I also put a locked box of plugs in my suv when I go fishing to change/exchange plugs if the conditions are different when I get to the location

Its the thing on my belt that gets used if it's windy or the yellow-eyes show up

I have 2:
One small surfcaster on my belt w/ 3 plugs
one med. Skinz for occasional plug trips...
less is more!!!

emgred 04-10-2008 09:23 AM

DJ
I have several bags (5 or 6) that are relatively small, and as you have done, have them set up for very specific spots. There is a lot of gear/plugs that go into the back of the Jeep as well.
A small Surfcaster five tube always on my belt - 3 Bombers, last two slots rotate and pretied leaders.

The other small or tall smallish bags are set up for various spots ie: Inlet bag, Back Bay bag, Night Beach bag, Dawn Bag (That one might even get a Jersey Death Machine...:rotflmao: Just Kidding - a SS Sinking Littleneck)

I used to carry larger bags, but as my collection of plugs and jigs grew along with my logs and knowledge of my local spots, I found it much easier to use small bags and stop lugging around things that were not getting used at a particular spot.

DJ - How are you?

Yellow bomber
yo-zuri mag darter in blue/black back
Superstrike needle black
white danny made by Gibbs Sometimes a salty danny comes for the trip.

All you need.:kewl:

EarnedStripes44 04-10-2008 12:04 PM

1 plug.... for I switch to cut pogie as soon it thaws

LeCounts1099 04-10-2008 02:04 PM

I keep it to "only" two filled bags... but that's because I rotate inserts (Surfcaster large bags...) :smokin:

Slots set up for "day/ light"... "day/ heavy"... "night light"... & "night/ heavy"... (Light or heavy meaning conditions/ water/ gear...)

THEN I switch out certain plugs or colors depending upon the spot/ night/ conditions...
