What's Everybody Drinking for Christmas?
Got a bottle of Element Brewing Company's Red Giant in the Fridge for Christmas.
Our Beers Still trying to figure out what else to pick....see what comes out this week at the store. What's everybody else Drinking/Trying for the Holiday Season? |
I've been hooked on Maine Beer Co. They make small batches that you can find on draft if you are in the Portland area or Eastern Standard in Boston or the 16ish oz. bottles. Mean Old Tom is a nice Oatmeal Stout with some vanillia used, but by no means overpowering. A nice drinkable stout that won't overwhelm with alcohol % like some of the imperials that are out there. They make a few others Zoe, Peeper, and Lunch that are all excellent. If you ever see the Lunch IPA I would grab as much as you can. Its developing a cultish following and doesnt last long. Its one of the best IPA's I've ever had and thats my favorite style.

Buzz's Pub is open and fully stocked for Santa...have to be ready for any request! Got the Bartenders guide ready to go.
That Vanilla Stout sounds good...have to see if I can track some down

I think it will be mostly wine on Christmas. We have Rib Roast so red goes good. Maybe some Ruby Porter too.

probably get some stone arrogant bastard and either stone or victory IPA to bring over my uncles and some great divide hercules douple IPA for back at home.
i usually pick up the anchor steam holiday beer, its a tradition from my time in SF
mmmmm, I love the Stone IPA's. They have the Ruination on tap at Sunset Bar & Grill. That can get me in trouble. That place in general gets me in trouble. The 60 is great too, Had the 90 recently and I thought it was going to strip the enamel off my teeth. I can't imagine what that 120 is like.
Ghandi Bot! Also have Oatmeal Milk stout from Riverhorse. When the wife is thirsty, a current favorite is a good reposada tequila w/ ginger beer or a st germaine gin and soda.
I just can't stop with the Six Point Autumnation. They had it still today so I grabbed it. Tough to beat.
Got some Racer IPA and Southern Tier Porter Also. |

Egg Nog
Old family recipe that I have been tweaking a bit year to year since it got "dumbed down" a bit due to health concerns. Almost back to where it needs to be (one qt heavy cream and one qt light cream and about 20 proof), but will probably give it one more adjustment next year (back to 2 qts heavy cream). That and some quads and an imperial or two if I get some left coast brands I prefer. |

Red Giant was a little dissapointing...it was just OK...nothing really stood out about it...as always the Ruination IPA was awesome...had a couple home made Cranberry Schnaaps to round everything out.
