redlite 12-06-2003 06:13 PM

I am the Bobby Orr of pond hockey. We skate sun up till we can't take it anymore. We have flood lights a light tower, and a generator that we haul to what ever pond has good ice. With this snow, gonna be bad for skateable ice. I am definately in. Keep me posted of when and where. I also have two pond hockey nets that I can bring that we made up about 15 years ago that are only 18 inches high, so people don't get their shins smashed up by people aiming high.

Scotch Bonnet 12-06-2003 06:14 PM

Id be in for sure, sounds like a good time..........but im not getting between the boots:laughs: a few years back, we used to play for the stanley keg sometime in january, get about 20 of us together, play for like 10 hours, best out of 7, losers buy the keg, winners hoist it when it was empty, man, thems was some good times... :D

pops02 12-16-2003 03:48 PM

iceman, where do you play ? i play in either w bridgewater or taunton on thursday nights, in the semho league, how bout you ?

The Iceman 6 12-17-2003 08:02 PM

Pops02 -

Yup loser buys the keg. Or we use it as a shoe! I play a couple times a week @ Chelsea Piers in NYC - my team also travels and plays some tourneys in Montreal, Vegas, and Utah. Well when the wives, girlfriends, jobs let us.... The Specialist started this thread and when the temps freeze The Specialist will "GID"

I can rent out ice in Central Park - an outdoor rink called called Lasker Rink. Swimming Pool in the summer, Ice Rink in the winter - owned by the Donald. Prob. Much easier for me to head to you all though....

Ice

shore manic 12-18-2003 12:00 AM

love to lace em up again. only thing i have left are skates, everything else is gone including my knees!! i'd love to borrow some pads and slap the pipes again! i have a friend who might still skate. maybe he'll let me borrow his equiptment. OH too be a rink rat again!! best thing about being goalie, never had to pay!!

Goose 12-18-2003 09:54 AM

How bout we rent a ring for an 1 1/2 late one saturday night...we did that for a number of years in NewBedford....$120 per hour, about ten bucks a head. I love the sound of bodies crashing into boards:D

TheSpecialist 12-18-2003 01:37 PM

Goose That sounds like a great idea. I could not commit to every week though, with the work I have going on.
ICE ICE BABY......... Get your gear up hear we gotta lay some lumber, old time hockey, Eddie Shore.....

Jonny Bolt 12-18-2003 04:41 PM

I played hockey for 10 years. Wheres this gunna be at?

The Iceman 6 12-18-2003 07:28 PM

Dont go on worrying about me - just tell me when and where. Ideally a Saturday would lure them into the pond - bringing in back ol' school' style. Get it done Specialists.... Pops02 makes the rules up...

How about Master Baiters? I still play pond hockey every winter, but lately we have been getting so much snow we end up only playing 1-2 times a year. I like the idea of renting a rink. Really need two goalies to make it really work indoors though.
BTW how old is everyone? I'm 50 and have lost a step or two in the last decade.:walk:

TheSpecialist 12-18-2003 09:04 PM

I am 34 soon to be 35. I think I could get a goalie or 2. Goose can you look into a rink for a sat night?

Goose 12-18-2003 11:28 PM

Will do.

Jonny Bolt 12-19-2003 08:13 AM
