Second Annual “Striped-Bass.com Too Friekin’ Cold to Fish Night”

Remember this from last year?

http://www.striped-bass.com/images/sbcomtx.jpg

Gboutdoors, Don Bliz, and ALR went WAY out of their way to put together our winter fund raiser for this site. They rented a hall and Bliz (and Rappin’ Mikey) put together the night’s entertainment with Fisheye doing a video promo, Bomba manning the kitchen for all the dishes brought in by everyone, and generally, everyone had a pretty stinkin’ good time.

About 100 people showed up that night and we had raffles for prizes better than any raffle table I’ve ever seen. Custom Prints like the one Bloo did, the books donated, the fishin trips/charters donated, the custom rods, the reels, the gear, the prizes, and the list goes on… It was an awesome night, an awesome dinner, and it raised the funds necessary to run this site. I think everyone that went will agree that it was a fantastic nite out – except for Milo ‘cause Clammer stole his wife :hihi:

Well, a lot of people have approached me for doing the “Too Friekin’ Cold to Fish Night part Deaux” and I wanted to see what kind of interest we have. Thinking something in February or March, probably in the same area somewhere from Portsmouth, RI to Fairhaven (same place maybe?). And pretty much the same format for the night (with a couple twists J ).

So I’m looking to get a rough idea on who would be interested in this. I also think that the site will fund this night out! Last year, GB, Don, and ALR generously financed the night out in addition to MCing, DJing, handling logistics, and generally making sure we didn’t burn the place down.

If people are interested, I’ll get the ball rolling on this and get it organized. In addition to being a really great time, it also made the site pay for itself for the first time (which was good seeing that I’ve been laid off since May :smash: )

So, add your name below if you would be interested in attending and if your significant other will come too. A lot of people used last year to bring their betterhalfs and prove/disprove that we’re a bunch of fishing freaks  :hihi:

last year = good food (yum), great videos, awesome prizes, and - most importantly - *great company*. time well worth spent!

bud8fan 12-29-2003 07:09 PM

I'm There! Not sure about the wife though?

GBOUTDOORS 12-29-2003 07:37 PM

John if you wish I will get any dates that the Fairhaven hall may be open? As last year I would think you want a hall with its own bar that way you are not resposable for any drinking. The hall was $175.00 would be the same this year but I will not be able to help cover it this year .SORRY !! Also I would think the price should stay at $10.00 per person as last year I know I will go at $10.00 but not at $20.00.

chumbucket 12-29-2003 07:50 PM

I can't make the Plugbuilding GTG, but maybe by then I can make this S-B night GTG. Sounds coool:cool:

Goose 12-29-2003 07:52 PM

I'ld like ta go but gota play it by ear.

Got Stripers 12-29-2003 08:45 PM

In for the long term, unless crap comes up, either way count on me to donate for the raffle table.

JohnR 12-29-2003 09:02 PM

Right now I'm just looking to get general interest to confirm people might want to go - I'll look into the specifics tomorow or wed....

GB - Nahh, I don't want you guys to pay again :) - matter of fact, you guys get comped this year :hihi: for your tickets... I'll call you :)

Bliz & all, the tickets will remain just $10 per like last year (was that 10 each or 10 per couple??)... I'll need to ask ALR what the capacity of the place is again but that worked out well - being right across the street and with its own bar... Only major change if we did the same place might be to have smoking just outside and in the bar. That one room got a little tough even for smokers... Just a thought

So lets dig in a little further and I'll see what we can come up with....

Thanks!

mrmacey 12-30-2003 07:30 AM

$10.00

tlapinski 12-30-2003 08:30 AM

FWW - drop IA a line and see if he can make it. :D

bloocrab 12-30-2003 09:34 AM

..sounds good, if the dates work out - I'll be there.....

RIROCKHOUND 12-30-2003 11:08 AM

I'm gonna do my best to be there.... Tivertons not so far away lol

RickBomba 12-30-2003 01:58 PM

Count me and Mikey in, too.
Mikey won't be able to help in the kitchen, so I'll probably need one or two volunteers.
Might be bringing the chickie, so if she comes, everybody's all set for the volunteerism.
later,
Rick
ps-the sooner we set a date, the better for me!!!

InterPlanetaryAngler 12-30-2003 02:01 PM

We will be in attendance. :D

Canalratt1 12-30-2003 04:16 PM

I'll probably go wifey says no if it as smokey as last year.
