I want a new picture for the front page of this site!!

I'm looking for new fishing pictures for the front page of the site. If you have a picture from this year, send it in and we'll vote on it. You can e-mail them to me and I'll adjust it for size....

Thanks...

John

Mr. Kav 05-23-2001 12:36 PM

John, I just got a picture on my computer today and I will e-mail it to you. let me know if you recieved it

JohnR 05-23-2001 01:18 PM

Here ya go - So far Mr Kav has got his Wahoo... Anything a little more bassy?

BTW - Sweet Fish!!!

STEVE IN MASS 05-23-2001 01:30 PM

Geez, Dave, you could at least have wiped off the blood! ;)

John - I just sent you one, but its not from this year.

Mr. Kav 05-23-2001 01:46 PM

Steve, that wahoo was 100 % alive and kicking and i am just glad i still have all my fingers. I was putting it in the fish locker when they took that picture, but I agree with you I would have like to see that blood washed away before the picture was taken. As for the electric reel in the picture just so people know that is for deep drop bottom fishing ( 600 ft plus) it saves wear and tear on your arms when checking your bait.

Billybob 05-23-2001 01:56 PM

I just tried to send one John, it's a little more bassy, and this year , and kinda local. But I was havin a baad hair night !

JohnR 05-23-2001 02:01 PM

Steve - last year in Boston Harbor on a 15 foot older Boston Whaler?

I'd like to have the front page for this year's fish (and prefferably bass) but let's hear what everyone else says...

JeffH 05-23-2001 02:09 PM

John how about that fish from the CT River I posted last week. 40+lb fish, in the dark, head lamp etc real striper kind of stuff only the water is a little funny tasting. Did I mention he caught it on a 7' St Croix rod.

JohnR 05-23-2001 02:18 PM

OK - here's Billybob's, bad hair night and all (actually looks like a fin from a sea robin growning out of the back of your skull :P )... I adjusted the colors a little...

JohnR 05-23-2001 02:27 PM

JeffH, do you think they'll mind? As it really is their property...

BUT DANG NICE BASS!!!!

Got Stripers 05-23-2001 03:41 PM

Here's the pic that On the Water ran on their site for a week. About 1/4 mile from that other sweet spot you liked the looks of :), tight lines.

Of course my Cape Internet was bought by OneMain, then Earthlink and now I've got to move all the files over...fun, fun. Just checked this thread and see the red X, so this one needs to be moved over too.

Patrick 05-23-2001 04:05 PM

How about a picture of me naked?

Osprey 05-23-2001 10:11 PM

No offense John, but why?

I know this is my first post and all but I keep lookin at that beautiful picture, captured at hook-up, what a sight!!! Those fish that you guys caught are beautiful, really, but look at that bent rod! That's what we are lookin' for! Fellas keep postin' your pics, there great, but John don't dare get rid of that priceless fishing moment, please.

STEVE IN MASS 05-24-2001 06:26 AM

Patrick - Thanks for ruining my morning. :P

John - right about the spot, right about Mr. Kav's old boat, but a few years further back. He has had a new Pro-Liner for the past couple of years now.

Have always loved that picture, not just cause it was my first keeper, but with the lighthouse in the background, Dave took a perfect shot. I had it blown up and it hangs on my dining room wall. With any luck, I'll see what we can do about a picture from this year after this weekend. ;)

Patrick 05-24-2001 07:47 AM

My vote is for that last bass. The one of the man in the surf. That's Jeff H? Nothing against the other wonderful bass and wahoo submitted but that one just looks like an adventure that I'm looking for. Pretty inpiring the way the wash is coming out over the back.

JeffH 05-24-2001 08:07 AM

John, your right they plan on using it for the http://www.ctriverstripers.com site. I just look at that picture and my heart rate goes up 20 beats. Stripers on the dark what can be better than that. Hey we need to fish this year........

schoolie monster 05-24-2001 12:26 PM

Bunch of cool pics... JeffH, fantastic fish man and great to see that I'm not the only one who uses a headlamp. John always busts on me about it...

This brings up a good point for your site John. A photo gallery for members... A bragging board (credit: Got Stripers). Would be especially cool when one of us gets a huge fish, goes on a great trip, catches exotic fish like that wahoo, etc.

Also, photos of the leading fish for each tournament could be up there...

Just a thought. Let us feed our egos a bit.

schoolie monster 05-24-2001 12:28 PM

I was so busy yappin' I forgot to post my pic.

JohnR 05-24-2001 12:34 PM

Sounds good Jeff, we'll hook up this summer at one of the ususal spots... Yeh, I love that shot, definitely makes a fine, fine, photo...

JeffH 05-24-2001 12:55 PM

Hey I just would like everyone to know that isn't me in the picture it's my friend Steve H, I have hair. Steve is one of those guys who could pull a 30lber out of a bathtub and has a few 50's to his credit.

JohnR 05-24-2001 01:08 PM

Schoolie - I'll do that - no problem. Let me search around for a script for posting photos. Is that from last year when we went to the spot that never get's mentioned???

Patrick - you put up any shot of yourself missing any clothes and I'll send the mattress-police after ya :P

chris L 05-24-2001 04:24 PM

john
i have to correct you . its the picture posting police . the mattress police come after you when you remove those tags on the end of a mattress ( remove under penalty of the law).

Patrick
I hope your mother doesnt read that .
disclaimer
mrs patrick we didnt put him up to it .

Patrick 05-24-2001 09:05 PM

My mom has a dirtier mind than I do! She would just laugh.

Clammer 05-24-2001 09:12 PM

You guys take pictures of fish, Great I do sunise sunset ,waves , lighthouses, photos you need to keep you sane in the off season,Ido have one fish photo, I have to show John to see if it can be scaned// JOhn Ill get my photos back and mount them on cards and give them to someone doing a art show to I can get gas money/ I got it figured/your passing on the fishing invirations /saving it up for eel trips// later

PS what about the guy next door??

JohnR 05-25-2001 08:15 AM

Yeh - but that's your mom. Don't forget - she's seen you starkers in the tub when your were just a baby. Besides - she laughed thej, why would now be any different...

Clammer - I'm only half done with those pics but I can get them finished this weekend... I want to put more up anyway... I can scan just about anything for a normal photo - I can even make this fish look big if you want to... Not passing on the invites - just not getting out and we've had a couple things come up this week. My mother had surgery this week - she's soing fine but that's reduced my enthusiasm too.

The last time I was out was the morning after seeing you at the bucky run. Fortunately, the guys running the two netted gate on your side of the bridge were missing alot of herring. I was watching you scooping them up while Pete and Repeat spent their time missing fish as they took 60 seconds to check their empty nets after every 30 seconds :P . Those missed fish were going into my net on the other side of the bridge...

Patrick 05-25-2001 09:02 AM

ROFL. You guys crack me up.

JohnR 05-27-2001 06:05 PM

Couple from this weekend suckered onto some live herring - no monsters but decent action... Thanks again Clamdigger and Fishpart....

Fishpart 05-27-2001 07:25 PM

I must say I had a great time out with Clammer and John, thanks for the invite. I'm still crawling out of the doghouse ;) but it was a worthwhile trip. My feet finally warmed up enough to fall asleep about 15 minutes before the 2 year old sounde revillie. It's great to be awake all night on Memorial Day weekend and not be deployed or on an exercise.

Slipknot 05-27-2001 08:42 PM

I'm glad to see you guys caught some stripers. That's great that you got out and fished this weekend Fishpart, nice fish guys. Just think, they're getting bigger- the cows are on their way.

Saltheart 05-27-2001 09:01 PM

Clamdigger's looks like its a little heavy! :) Fishpart , staying out all night without a pass? Uht Oh...you're in trouble :) Nice fish.

Clammer 05-27-2001 09:04 PM

Thanks Slipknot,Its fun when you go fishing with good people and have some laughs, Just a little better when you catch fish, THat trip was lined up in two phone calls five minutes apart and everyone did their share of getting bait and still not holding anyone up / thats what fun fishing is all about. Fishpot, we got to find a way for you to go fishing yet stay out of the doghouse// Im thinking of a completely different way of fishing the next night out/ but that may change ,depending on the buckies////later

Clammer 05-27-2001 09:12 PM

Thanks Saltheart ,,// your wecome to come anytime ,if we can pull you away from the ditch//

Only problem is I seldom make plans, I see what shape my personal life is at the time, check conditions and go// I do have to actually make plans with Fishpart to go Fluke fishing---- that may help the doghouse// later

Jaiem 05-27-2001 10:13 PM

How about this (fish caught 5/26/01) :

JohnR 05-28-2001 07:39 AM

Say this in Homer Simpson's voice - Fluuuuke

Jaiem, you dropping rocks down her belly??? :P

Saltheart 05-28-2001 10:19 AM

That's a fat one Jaiem! :)

Mike P 05-28-2001 11:13 AM

Has anyone ever seen clamdigger and Saltheart in the same place at the same time? Except for the fact that Mike is slightly larger, there's more than a passing resemblance.

Nice fish guys, all of you. Jaiem's is probably full of 5" herring, not rocks. Maybe a big hickory shad. I know what was in the water where he was fishing ;)

"For the night, has a thousand eyes, and a thousand eyes, can't help but see......"

Some places, when you're fishing, it doesn't do just to look left and right to see who's watching---sometimes, you have to look up, too ;)

Jaiem 05-28-2001 08:33 PM

John, Saltheart - When I cleaned her, she had *6* fluke in her belly!!!! And some kind of small eel (conger eel maybe).

I had always heard people say bass eat flounder/fluke but this is the first time I've ever seen it and so many too. Guess I have to start taking those rubber flounder jigs more seriously. ;)

I have the picture of the fluke in the bass belly too but it's kinda bloody. Let me know if you want to see it and I'll either post it or email it to you.

Mike - Guess you never know who's around. Where you there at "the spot" when I took her?

Mike P 05-28-2001 09:35 PM

About 70' up and about 30' to your left. You were flyfishing when I saw you. I usually check the spot from up top on a weekend, to see how crowded it is. Range Rover Anthony was fly casting where I wanted to fish, I moved about a half mile farther west to catch the ebb. Substitute inches for pounds on the fish I took there.

Just don't ask where I park when I do the eyeballing---it isn't "at all" legal. ;) Just a quick peek and move. I saw a black 4-Runner in the lot, and thought it might have been yours.

Fishpart 05-29-2001 05:54 AM

I'm not really in the doghouse so to speak, but the little ones don't want daddy sleeping when they are supposed to be playing with them :)

Fluke will go a long way to keeping me out of the doghouse... BTW miss "I don't like to eat Striped Bass" was asking if I brought any home.....

Jaiem 05-29-2001 07:43 AM

Anthony weighed the fish on his Bogagrip - 24#.

I've seen guys drive and park under the bridge but haven't tried it (don't have the nerve to loose my permit). So I hoof it in from the parking lot.

Yea, that 4Runner is my buggy. :) Next time you're on the beach come by and say "Hi!".

I'll probably head East this coming weekend (have to scout areas for the Salty's ralley in 2 weeks) but I spend a lot of time in that spot during the summer. I'm sure our paths will cross again.
