This gay marraige thing

Well it looks like Massachusetts is a couple of monthes away from legalizing same-sex marraiges.

I write this as I have spent the past few months oscillating back and forth between annoyance and acceptance of this union issue.

The issue made some more sense last week when I viewed the comedic effort Dennis Miller. Man has that dude fallen into the right ! :(

I never was fond of his efforts prior to this new act and had remained sceptical until he made a comment that went something like this:

I don't have any problem with same sex marraige. What I would have a problem with would be a couple performing a same sex union and a person enters the scene wired with explosive trying to take out the ceremony and nobody had a way to KILL this nutcase before it occurred.

made me kind of understand where the importance in protecting rights should be.

:)

:uhuh: Ain't that the truth!

RIROCKHOUND 02-05-2004 11:35 AM

Jon Stewert said it best a while back...

Goose I agree. It's OK for the liberals to censor what many of us believe in while we have to "be tolerant" of things we find totally offensive:af::af::af:

chris L 02-05-2004 05:07 PM

I am married ( im grumpy not lumpy ) so I dont care !

bloocrab 02-05-2004 05:59 PM

My father has a part-time job as the church grounds-keeper, I just got back from removing signs that were taped all along the street poles surrounding the church, and only the church.

Gay Marriage = Love
Churches view = Ignorance

The church teaches to hate
Gay marriages will teach how to love

...I laughed about it, but he was pissed. I am 300% against it, but like Goose said....and the way I look at it, they're planning their own destiny. - :devil2: ....just my opinion, to all you ;) ummm....extra happy people out there. :laughs:

....although that last flyer still has me laughing, you'd think they'd word it differently. :laughs:

beachwalker 02-05-2004 06:26 PM

Hehe. Wow Bloo. I can see how this issue would steam a religious person, particularly a senior.

Doesn't look like there is much we can do about it. This is Massachusetts :(

Nebe 02-05-2004 07:12 PM

I'm all for it. Who are we as a society to control how people choose to run thier lives. I've got a few gay freinds, both male and female... If they felt like they wanted to comit themselves to a life of partnership whats the problem??

TheRattBoy 02-05-2004 07:22 PM

I'm with Goose....:(
I'm also convinced (espically since 9-11) the world is going to hell and this IS one more step. johnny "tRB"

Nebe 02-05-2004 07:38 PM

how is two people who love each other and express their love by having a ceremony going to effect your life??
gimme a break.

If everyone on this planet accepted everyone elses beliefs there would be no wars, no killing, etc.

And to continue my soapbox rant.... I'd like someone to name a war that wasn't about religion, or wasn't fought by 2 opposing religious countries.

fishweewee 02-05-2004 07:45 PM

I would pay serious money to see a gay striper. :D (No you dummy, the fish, not a stripper).

FTRAV 02-05-2004 07:51 PM

I don't believe you. Gay bluefish maybe, but not a gay sandworm! :laughs:

goosefish 02-05-2004 09:07 PM

FWW--we get about 2 million seed oysters ever spring; you'd think that some would be switch hitters.
Oysters spawn in one great union of sperm and eggs all joining together in the water colume. Oysters reproduce differently than we do..................and I'm happy for that. :)

fishweewee 02-05-2004 09:08 PM

Goosefish, hermaphrodites, just like boat stripers, don't count. :laughs: :hihi: :bshake:

mrmacey 02-05-2004 09:08 PM

Eben, I think they can do whatever they want but it may be morally wrong. I think some want a legal marraige only so they too can get benefits much like a husband and wife can recieve health ins. benifits, that may raise costs of insurance, who knows who it could effect. that's one small miniscule example.

I know plenty of gay people too, they don't bother me and I don't bother them. But I wouldn't want to have to explain to my 8 year old why so and so has 2 moms. Families used to be the backbone and the glue that held this country together, I don't know what's happening. I am far from religious but I do believe in God, and I think the churches have enough troubles with priests loving their alterboys the wrong way
:smash: Maybe Priests should be the ones allowed to be married instead of gays.
