Yep, this is the first year my boat stayed home for the winter.
I will be out in B-Bay tomorrow morning for a skakedown.
I was at the Bourne Marina today, G+S had boats and trucks all over the place water testing a lot of boats today.

angler management 04-07-2004 12:49 PM

I was going to try to get mine home today!

The dealer has had it for almost 3 weeks to fix a scratch.

I think I am at the bottom of the list. (Bastards)

I have a new Lowrance 335C DF to install.

And my VHF to put in.

New Boat (picked it up last fall)

I CAN NOT WAIT!

Vectorfisher 04-07-2004 08:33 PM

Bigcat,

I kind of swore them off when I did that last year last week in March I took my boat out for 25 minutes most and they put a tag on my truck to collect there $ 10.00 kind of pissed me off:mad: it will probably come down to that though because I can't wait much longer.

if you really really cant wait-- i bet we could help you launch. just tie up to the side at high tide you will be all set.

Vectorfisher 04-07-2004 09:08 PM

Have to see what the weather brings

angler management 04-08-2004 09:16 AM

Vectorfisher

What size motor do you have on that Hydra Sports?

What size?

I ask because I just got a Hydra Sports 212 With a 175 merc Optimax.

I was only getting a top speed of 30.

Wonder how yours is?
Have you had it long? Any problems with it?

Thanks

Vectorfisher 04-08-2004 02:29 PM

Angler that is a 225 FICHT it will top out at 40 can cruise at 30 wihtout it being wound up. If my memory serves me correct 5600 RPM WOT I don't know if you have a Ficht or not but there is a world of difference.

Vectorfisher 04-08-2004 02:30 PM

The boat is a 2450, you may want to check sounds like you are running the wrong prop

missing link 04-08-2004 02:31 PM

find anything out about the boat ramp?

Vectorfisher 04-08-2004 02:33 PM

No been to busy, I really had the itch to pull the trigger today though!! I will probably go out Saturday in Bourne if there are no piers in Wareham, I did notice a 24-26' Hydra Sports Vector CC moored in the harbor today when I went buy so thats a good sign:D

missing link 04-08-2004 02:36 PM

have to cover the boat tonight- rain tommrow/ tonight tommrow i got school off- pro gonna wax the bottom tommrow maby- try for hold overs this weekend we have to put the chartplotter in and an hour meater
i wana go out in the boat BAD!!!

and take a look at the cat at the boat ramp in Bourne

angler management 04-08-2004 02:53 PM

Thanks Vectorfisher

I tried a new prop last year. 19pitch to a 21pitch.

Have not had a chance to run it yet. The tach was running high

maybe this weekend. Looks like the weather is going to be ok for Saturday.

Vectorfisher 04-08-2004 03:04 PM

AM sounds like you needed a prop change, previous to this boat I had a 23' Sunbird Neptune W/A same hull as the Hydra Sports 23 Bay or Lighnting boats it had a 4.3 V6 I/O and would top out at 35 4700 RPM's I think HP was rated at 190 in that boat

Vectorfisher 04-09-2004 02:44 PM

Link FYI the small piers at Tempest Knob are in, the dock at the end isn't yet. Went out today for a couple hours, had to go and harass the G+S people sea trialing boats:D Went by a Key West 23' W/A they had out like it was standing still they had so many people on board they were working it keeping it on plane.:smash:

Looks a little like my 2150 WA Vector.

missing link 04-09-2004 09:07 PM

nice, fish on!

Vectorfisher 04-09-2004 09:07 PM

Yep only difference you can see is the transoms. Nice ride where do you keep her?

Fish On 04-10-2004 06:47 PM

Keep her in the driveway. I launch at Cashman's in Newburyport. Also, head down south of the cape quite a bit and launch in CHild's River. Occasionaly launch out of Marshfield, Green Harbor.

Vectorfisher 04-10-2004 07:27 PM

I hear ya on the driveway slip, much cheaper!! You ever fish Stellwagen for cod?

Fish On 04-10-2004 08:03 PM

Sure I've done Stellwagen and Jeffries. Oh yeah I occasionally launch out of Gloucester (nice ramp behind the high school). I've done Tilles as well when I launch there.

Major benefits I like about trailering are:
1) mobility, I can fish from maine to Rhode Island without too much trouble.
2) loading, I like loading the boat in my driveway. Much easier than going from the house to the truck to the boat back to the truck back to the house.
3) cleanliness, There's no build up on the bottom, zincs last much longer, and I get a chance to dowse the entire boat in fresh water after use which extends the life of everything.
4) maintenance, Much easier to work on the boat in the driveway.
5) fuel costs, road gas is much cheaper as we all know.

The downsides as I see it are the limitation on beam (102") and the wear and tear on the truck.

All toll I think trailering is the way to go. At least until I step up to a bigger boat which I'd love to do down the road.

Nice rig you go there. Looks almost brand new. How do you like your motor? I crusie at about 28 and top end is about 35 to 38 depending on conditions.

Vectorfisher 04-10-2004 08:51 PM

Thanks for the compliment the whole package is a 99, to be perfectly honest I bought this boat last October after selling my 97 23' Sunbird Neptune W/A I/O. I was a little skeptical about the Ficht knowing there reputation with the 150-175 hp motors, but the previous owner didnt take care of anything and it had to have a brand new powerhead installed and I got it with 40 hours on it, I figured if I could buy it for the price I named it would be a deal, took a couple months of watching and waiting and when I made my move in October the owner was just ready to move so I got her real cheap and I am glad I did that motor is awesome and the boat is so much more than I had She has been to the gel coat shop and I have personally put a ton of elbow grease into it but I now have a boat that is worth alot more than I paid for it. I asked about Stellwagen because I am dying to go out have never been waiting for the cod to start hitting heavy, warmer water temps is what we need. Am pretty flexible to where I launch and even towed my previous boat from Newburyport(Sea Dog) so that doesn't scare, I just don't know the waterways up there I guess I have plenty of time to learn.

Fish On 04-10-2004 11:31 PM

I'd be happy to do a tandem run some day early this summer. I usually pick the weather carefully and go alone. It's always better to go in pairs. If you are coming from the south and Stellwagen is your destination then Green Harbor in Marshfield is a good launch. Very nice ramps and the fee is like $8. Harbor is a short run to the Ocean and you are less than an hour from Stellwagan at cruise.

Vectorfisher 04-11-2004 01:12 PM

Just drop a line I am pretty much always game. Was actually thinking of going out next weekend.

gf2020 04-11-2004 02:58 PM

Fish On:

Is that the 2150 that was for sale on Route 1A in Ipswich last year?

That boat seemed pretty nice, needed a little TLC as I recall.

Fish On 04-21-2004 08:59 PM

Actually I've had mine for 2 years now and this will be my third season. I bought mine in a private sale in Newburyport. It was very well taken care of thankfully.

gf2020 04-22-2004 11:11 AM

Cool. Those Vector walkarounds are great boats.

The docks went in at Cashman Park in Newburyport last Friday.

I was on the river on Saturday morning.
