BigFish 05-29-2004 08:05 PM

That is a great picture....what did you do with them?:D

Raider Ronnie 05-29-2004 08:09 PM

I hope they didn't make too much of a mess to the deck of the mower:uhoh:
Just kidding!
We've got a birds nest(robins) under the overhang on my garage on top of an outside light.
The mother has been sitting in there for quite a while and the eggs hatched over a week ago, my kids have been having a ball watching the whole process
Ron

BigFish 05-29-2004 08:10 PM

Fish On 05-30-2004 08:22 AM

Brutal crowd. I knew tha "bait" jokes would come quick.

Didn't do anything with them. Left them right there, although yesterday there was a foot of grass around the hole and now there's nothing. I'm hoping the mother will move them some place but I'm worried she may not come back.

BigFish 05-30-2004 09:17 AM

Take good care of them Fish On....if the mother does not return, call a local Audobon Society, they might be able to put them in good, caring hands to raise them until they can be released.:D

Fish On 05-30-2004 10:40 AM

Good news! Ichecked on them this morning and there was fresh grass over the hole. I think she's been back!

BigFish 05-30-2004 10:44 AM

No coyotes, but we do have other predators around here. This one's been hanging around today. I hope he doesn't find my bunnies.

ps: they are doing great, mom's been back every day. Hopefully this guy doesn't see her going to the nest.

Here's a picture from today. These guys are really getting bigger! Eyes are wide open now and they are actually making little bunny noises.

BigFish 06-01-2004 02:42 PM

Mother Nature is a wonder.....she does great work!;)

MrsSFrances 06-01-2004 03:39 PM

they are just too cute...keep us posted on these lil babiessss:)

Diamond Tackle 06-01-2004 08:06 PM

looks like its getting crowded in there. We had only 3 in a hole this year. They grew real fast. I still see them when im cutting the lawn,as they spook out of the shrubs. they are fun to watch.

Fish On 06-01-2004 09:11 PM

There's 8 in this hole if you can believe it. I want to get some pictures when the first come out of the hole but I'm afraid I'll miss it. I don't think it will be long before they are hopping about on there own.

Wow, not sure how long they will be in the nest now. They are bright-eyed and bushy-tailed.

MrsSFrances 06-03-2004 10:41 AM

MAC 06-03-2004 05:59 PM

Hope you don't have a garden....... if so, you probably won't think they are so cute.

Fish On 06-04-2004 04:41 PM

Maybe the Last Photo in Nest

1 Attachment(s)
Well I just took a peek in the nest and these guys are really getting big. One of them bolted across the yard. I had to chase him down, put him in my ball cap, and put him back in the nest. I was lucky to catch him.

Anyway there are only 6 in there now, so either 2 were someone's lunch or they already left the nest. I can't imagine and animal would have eaten 2 and left the rest. I hope it's the later.

Also, I say a gray fox in my backyard today. I hope he doesn't come back.

Cheers!

Jenn 06-04-2004 07:57 PM

Pretty amazing if you think about it.....rabbits having a gestation period of about thirty days!!! Hence the rabbit fornication jokes I suppose.... :D

striprman 06-05-2004 07:42 AM

The rabbits ate all the flowers my wife planted around the house.

Fish On 06-05-2004 09:11 AM

Well this morning they are all gone. I sort expected to wake up this morning and not find them.

A bit of sad news though, I found one on the lawn, not sure what happened to him, but at least one didn't make it.

I hope the rest of them made it ok.

Rabbitts aren't the only babies in my yard

Here's another little guy I dound venturing from the nest.

MrsSFrances 06-11-2004 04:16 PM

sadly it looks like he fell or was pushed out of the nest, to young to fly yet, looks like a blue jay chick...

he was probly the weakest in the nest either that or he got to close to the edge....

thats a great photo though, really clear....

poor lil guy:(

Fish On 06-11-2004 04:20 PM

That may be true, but amazingly I actually caught the mother (or father) feeding the little guy on the ground. Also, they were sticking close to him from the tree above. I couldn't see a nest anywhere though or I'd try to put him back in. He's pretty mobil hopping all around so perhaps the nest is a way off.

MikeTLive 06-11-2004 04:45 PM

BlueJays will kick your ass if you get too close to the nest/baby.
