Striper slaying to start Sunday in Mass
Commercial season starts Sunday and there will be a major A-- whooping put on those precious little fish you are looking for in Mass waters, 1,141,517 million pounds to be exact. Say the average weight of a commercial fish is 25#'s that means approx 45660 stripers in MA will die in the next couple of weeks.
Not sure how many people here fish commercial, but this year I will be taking my 30 fish a day. Now, how do you all feel about that-- |
I'm in and so will I....... that pays for some gas gear and odds and ends It's my first shot at it with my buddy who had never pulled a permit before but what the hell go fishin' and make some coin why not? put some money aside for tuna season and the tons of fuel consumed..... as long as nobody abuses it thats why we buy permits right
|
pfffft, whatever
amatuer trollers :smash: |
and your point is ?
cause I dont care ! |
ya can buy yourself a bigger set of outriggers with your 30 fish a day, cuz yours aint working :laughs:
|
Trolling trolling trolling get them comments rolling.....
Come on S-J, give it a rest... who cares if you're commercial or not, I've sold some in the past, to each his own... "Commercial season starts Sunday and there will be a major A-- whooping put on those precious little fish you are looking for in Mass waters, " "Now, how do you all feel about that--" Give me a break :smash: |
until stripers are declared a game fish, this will go on up and down the coast. not begrudging anybody, a lot of us were commercial at one time or another.
|
I know I shouldn't get into this but I can't resist. OK SJ, riddle me this, how many bass died this week from harvest by "sportfishermen"? How many since May 1st? How many will be taken all season long? Junk science on SF's part. :smash:  :smokin:
|
and your point would be??
nevermind...... |
I'm waiting for a point on this one too
|
The point is my esteemed fellow bassers that there is no point. This is whats widely known as a circle talk. You are very astute indeed to see the pointless posting of this "issue".:laughs:
|
On this issue you really can be a conservationist and a rod and reel commercial. If you don't help meet the quota somebody else will. Either way, it will be met.
|
let some one else. frig that..................
|
Yep and by Tuesday it will be down to a buck something a pound yipee
 |
I'll edit mine myself... it/he aint worth it

I'm also sick and tired of gready people kill the fish that I throw back. My thoughs are that somebody is going to get em, might as well be me and my family. If you can't beat em, join em-- |
Sorry Chris - sentiment understood but Family Site and all :hihi: -JR

I'll clean my comments myself... this isn't worth it...

I think you guys should take this pissing contest off the site before you both get banned.......I know at this point you probably don't care, but nobody here really wants to see this kind of blatant language! I am here to tell you that I don't want to see it so knock it off and have a little class!:af:

You were obviously trying to tick off the sport guys and you seem to have done a good job at it. What did you accomplish. Nothing but tick off a bunch of really nice guys. You're such a winner. :hs: |

I was not trying to tick off anyone, I was the one that was ticked off and felt like posting my feelings |
No need for the F-BOMBS guys.....I think you guys are capable of expressing yourselves with a little more eloquence and savy!

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Internet_troll
On the Internet, the term troll is a slang term used to describe a number of things, traditionally: A post (on a newsgroup, or other forum) thought to be intended to incite controversy or conflict or cause annoyance or offense. A person who posts these. The term troll has negative connotations, and is often applied as an insult. An individual posting honestly-held but controversial opinions is sometimes mis-labeled as a troll. By contrast, a troll's primary incentive is generally considered to be the incitement of conflict. A troll's reactions to being identified as a troll often gives the game away. A person unjustly accused of being a troll may be hurt and express indignation. A troll is more likely to react with verbal abuse, raising the stakes with inflammatory remarks maligning the motivation of the accuser. Trolling is often described as an online version of the breaching experiment, where social boundaries and rules of etiquette are broken. Self-proclaimed trolls often style themselves as Devil's Advocates or gadflies, challenging the dominant discourse and assumptions of the forum they are 'trolling' in an attempt to subvert and introduce different ways of thinking. Detractors claim that true "Devil's Advocates" generally identify themselves as such for the sake of etiquette whereas trolls do not feel so bound. Trolls are sometimes caricatured as socially-inept. This is often due to fundamental attribution error, as it is difficult to know the real traits of an individual solely from their online discourse. Indeed, since intentional trolls are alleged to knowingly flout social boundaries, it is difficult to typecast them as socially inept since they have arguably proven adept at their goal of inciting conflict. |
OK....everyone just push the keyboard away and take a few steps back and everyone will be alright........:hidin:

S-Journey, why would you put a thumbs-up in front of your post title? Sounds like your back tracking

No back tracking here Krispy, I will stay my course no matter what the consequences. |

I mean we are talking about stripers here, 1.00$-1.50$ a fricken pound! |
I have been away from the computer for a while and was excited about seeing what was going on in this forum. I have to say its disapointing to read f-bombs and threats from you two in this thread. CLean it up.
|
As my dear departed Italian grandmother would say, "Basta!!!"
|
Okoley Dokely, howdy friekin' who neighbor....
First off - knock off the language - both of you - no need for it. Secondly, SJourney, you probably could have expressed this well worn topic in a better way. If you were trying to rally the masses and charge into the next DMF/ASMFC meeting, hehehe, doesn't work like that. Don't know if I ever saw you at one of those meetings to express your displeasure... Again, don't guive us SysAdmins a bad name.... Anyway - if you want to add some CONSTRUCTIVE commentary on this topic, start it fresh and debate it (again). Thanks guys & gals (and Chris).... Oh Yeh - Quick, welcome back.... |
I dont see any prob at all with a commercial harvest ! the prob is NO STATE TO STATE REGS. and truth be known I DONT TROLL TOO MUCH WORK IF I FIND FISH I CAN GET THE JOB DONE FASTER AND WITH ALOT LESS FUEL CONSUMPTION FOR MORE $ IN MY POCKETT SO....................
|
Different kind of trolling JR...
For me this wasn't an issue of Rec v. Comm. I just thought the way it was asked it was baiting us to get on S-J for his commercial status; we sold a few bass in years past, to me it's not a big deal, luckily I'm at the point where I can fish for fun and work for $$, but if you do it to supplement your income and it's legal, then I don't have a problem, especially b/c it's rod and reel... S-J if it was a misunderstanding I appologize, but I think you went about sparking a debate all wrong... |
I'm, not smart I just fish and wouldent think of someone drawing fire onto themself by saying something, I was really thinking w/ $ on the line how many people highgrade and what is the penalty for it I honestly know 0 about boat fishing but my buddy has alot more time to fish this year so Im givin' it a go is that so bad? like i said I have spent 15 yrs on the sand only 4 or 5 trips on the boat ever but it was cool to me ..
|
I was just trying to see how the masses felt about this subject, didn't mean for it to come out like it did.
Some of you have been on this site forever and have most likely discussed this stuff more times than you care to remember, well I haven't. I'm not saying it's wrong to fish commercial for striped bass with a rod and reel, I'm just upset with how it is managed and most of all how it is enforced. Sorry to all who were offended, even you Chris! |
