anyone up for some plug paintin' pics'?
step 1.
spray 2 part epoxy primer {thinned out so it will soak in} step 2. spray 2 part sandable primer over that |
step 3.
wetsand with 400 to get the gouges out. step 4. wetsand with 800. step 5. wetsand with 1000. thats larry's plug on top. |
step 6.
spray another coat of epoxy primer, then spray the nose blue. |
fine line tape the blue, then spray white.
|
fine line tape the blue and the white, and spray the red.
|
ok, we made it this far without screwing up,,,, so now we're gonna lock those colors down. with clearcoat.
just incase we mess up the stars, or the shadowing, we can wipe it off with laquer thinner, and it won't mess up what we've done so far. |
now for the shadowing.
mask off the forward edge of the "curl"in the flag and airbrush black. |
" M.S.B.A. '04 " logo
|
draw a very small star on a piece of paper, cut out star with super sharp razorblade.
then airbrush stars over the blue. |
two more coats of clear.
and this is where it stands so far. a quick wetsand with 1200 in the morning and we'll add some more on it. |

okey dokey.
to answer everyones questions??? yes. no. yes. never. maybey. used too. yes. no. huh. and ohhh yahh! it's 3m scotch tape {blue} all PPG primers, basecoats, and clearcoats. airbrush is a sharpe. fine line brush is raccoon hair. the stars are hand cut with a razor, from a paper stencil.then individualy airbrushed on. i only paint bikes{parts only, no disasemble-re-assemble} when the price is right $$$. took about,,,,,, six hours of actual "work" to paint it. spread out over a weeks time. paitience, is a virtue. :) |
