PurpelNoon 01-24-2005 05:22 PM

I can't believe what that book is selling for. Makes me happy to know I have a SIGNED copy of that.

Steve HC 01-24-2005 07:35 PM

Do you think Joeycasta knows he got robbed? At one point he was bidding against himself. I've got a Penn 710 greenie he can have for 2 grand. Maybe Joycasta is Doc's alias????
Steve:)

PurpelNoon 01-24-2005 07:47 PM

Steve,

Thats so funny. I was thinking the same thing. He got ripped!

not to validate this goon paying what he did, but you don't understand ebay do you? he wasn't bidding against himself, he was bidding to beat the high bidder. look at the history again.

tlapinski 01-24-2005 07:59 PM

i couldn't resist myself. i emailed the winning bidder this link... http://shop.thesurfcaster.com/cgi-bi...ast/BKWC3.html :laughs:

PurpelNoon 01-24-2005 08:01 PM

He is gonna be peeeeesed! :D

Now all I wonder is if the seller at Amazon is going to sell his/her copy for $105.

Zeno 01-24-2005 08:19 PM

At the Freeport show in few days you will probably be able to get a sign copy from the man himself, for $5 or $6

ProfessorM 01-24-2005 08:25 PM

Crazy

I also have a signed copy of this book I bought in 1993. $86 bucks. It is a good book but $86 bucks. Always said fishermen will buy anything. I am ready to sell. P.M.

Steve HC 01-24-2005 08:30 PM

tlapinski,
Yeah, I guess e-bay is a partial mystery. Enlighten me.
Steve:)

And you can get a copy of his defunct magazine as well. Maybe a Tri-Fin lure too.

Both issues, too---both of which are numbered "Volume One" :laughs:

But, but, Toby, that $86 was for a first edition :wall:

PurpelNoon 01-24-2005 09:24 PM

I'm trying to get as many surf/fishing books as I can signed because if I hopefully have a son one day, I feel it would be a special gift to leave him a series of old (by then) signed books.

If it wasnt for the snow, I was going to bring my three remaining unsigned books for him(Muller) to sign at the Nassau show, but I never made it. Guess I will try Freeport.

Zeno 01-24-2005 09:38 PM

Oh came on !
You know you will pimp those babies as soon as you get home

That was a darn good magazine. Its a shame it was only two volumes before it folded.............

PurpelNoon 01-24-2005 09:41 PM

LOL . Sure its tempting to sell 'em all. Then I can go out ond put a nice down payment on a 4wheel drive. Took out the 4cylinder front wheel drive Escape yesterday. It couldnt even get over a 6" pile of snow.:(

PurpelNoon 01-24-2005 09:42 PM

He gave me one of those magazines a few years ago. I have it around here somehwere. I think the cover was him with a huge bluefish.

Iwannakeeper 01-25-2005 02:09 PM

when and where is the freeport show?

Freeport ME ?

Date?

PurpelNoon 01-25-2005 03:00 PM

The Freeport show is actually in Freeport, LI, NY.

Iwannakeeper 01-25-2005 03:53 PM

I might be up for a drive....haven't got away in awhile Is it this weekend?

-IWK

PurpelNoon 01-25-2005 03:57 PM

Its from February 18-20th. Most of the fishing guys who attend one show will usually go to this one. I'll be there. :)

RIJIMMY 01-25-2005 04:15 PM

I've never heard of this book, do you guys reccomend it?

PurpelNoon 01-25-2005 04:25 PM

Bill Muller has written a few books:

Surf fishing for Stripers and Blues
Secrets of Surf Fishing at Night
Surf Fishing with the Experts
Fishing for Weakfish and Sea Trout

Did I miss any?

All were great books.

Al Bentsen's chapters on how to rig an eel (fully illustrated in step-by-step detail), and how to fish a rigged eel, are worth the price alone ;)

The picture of surf121's friend's 64 pounder should put to rest a certain someone's contention that a bottle plug couldn't catch a bass in a hatchery after the workers were on strike for a month :D :laughs:

PurpelNoon 01-25-2005 10:32 PM

I was happy to see that too (the bottle plug shot). I've heard that plug being talked down a lot but I've seen quite a few photos of guys that have caught BIG fish on them

Ive been "monitoring" that book for almost a year and the best price I could find was over $100. A copy popped up recently for less money and I grabbed it. :)

Mr. Sandman 01-26-2005 09:54 AM

I picked that book up several years ago at a on line used book seller for a very reasonable price. (15-20 bucks ) It is like new and almost perfect. Keep an eye out for it, they pop up on ebay now and again too.

Krispy 01-26-2005 10:07 AM

I found Bail Tail Fishing for $12 a couple weeks ago :)

NIB 01-26-2005 11:33 AM

What was the Author of the bucktailing book i thought it was muller.I saw it at a shop in conn. Rivers end.with a stack of other books he would only sell as a set.for 70 i offered him 35 for the one but he wouldn't do it.

PurpelNoon 01-26-2005 11:36 AM

Are you talking about John DeMaio?

NIB 01-26-2005 12:19 PM

What is the title i thought it was the art of bucktailing or the art of fishin buctails.or something like that.

Mr. Sandman 01-26-2005 12:38 PM

Captain John DeMaio's "The Art of Bucktailing."

ProfessorM 01-26-2005 12:43 PM

I just looked and I have an autographed copy of Surf Fishing for Stripers & Blues. I have a lot of these books but have not looked at them for years. Anyone interested in borrowing them send me a PM. I cannot belive these books are that expensive. P.M.
