good for you guys

rizzo 11-08-2005 08:46 PM

All fish were caught on eels and were from the mainland rocks. Overall it was a great year with very consistent fishing on the right tides and moon stages. What suprised me was the lack of fisherman in all of the places I fished this year, and that ranged from the cape all the way to CT. Even after certain articles were written or info was posted on the net I didn't really see a lot of guys out.

Slingah 11-08-2005 09:06 PM

Slobs

Any pics I forwarded to Rizzo the fish were at least 40lbs. He has more to post with the biggest at 47 lbs. It has been a good year even though the Fall hasn't been great. Personally, I've had 6 fish fish over 40lbs; two were boat fish. I lost count of the fish from 25 to 39 lbs, I think it is somewhere around 40. Didn't give him those pics for the SLOB post. I personally think a slob is a 40+ lb fish. I guess a high 30's counts, don't you guys? Bob C.

No bob a high 30 is a rat................ :jump:

Any fish is good, I will take a 35 any day along with a 40..have two 40s in the surf this year but without a doubt the most memorable nights were the 20s and 30s especially when they come one after the other........ Last night was great with 3 in the high 30s...there all good.. you know as well as I that 40s dont happen everynight-or-every season. There all nice, and they all "count" :kewl: Congrats on a good season!

tlapinski 11-09-2005 07:26 PM

Paul, nice job. I'm happy to hear someone had a good season! I bet a couple of those came from where we ran into each other this year. Just stay off my river... :laughs:

S L O B S

#^&#^&#^&#^&#^&#^& they all are good. I like to hook up anything 20 lb + it is what I live to fish for! SLOBS on the other hand to me are 38 + lb fish."HEADHUNTER STYLE" is 20 lbs = decent fish, 25 lbs = good fish, 30 lb = thats a nice fish man, 35 lb = thats a real nice fish ( or if u must slob, but not really), 38 lb and above = S L O B, 45lb and above = R E A L S L O B!

MotoXcowboy 11-09-2005 08:51 PM

:bc:you guys are killin me...i caught one 20lb fish all year. i need a break from this site and some serious fishing therapy. im gonna go find a hole and cry myself to sleep now...:crying:

eelman 11-09-2005 08:56 PM

I can say this , with the wind they are predicting, everyone should be happy with what they have man!! Norwest 40knots for the next 4 days, say bye bye to what ever the heck is left.......... That fat ladys tune is coming in much clearer now!! I can hear her sing!!

eelman 11-09-2005 08:59 PM

fish rocks, at night and use eels.nothing else!! sooner or later your eel will meet a bass, All the bass I caught this year have been on eels, nothing else...only in the spring did I catch on artificials, eels are the ticket man

Headhunter 11-09-2005 09:07 PM

That was 3 weeks ago :bl: this is now and a land breeze pushes em out...I dont know? it is getting late and certainly closer to over than just starting most of what would have migrated has done so already, straglers are always a possibility. I wish there was none of this wind now but hey, cant change mother nature.....go get em!

justplugit 11-09-2005 09:16 PM

Interesting theory - so what makes 38LB's the threshold between real nice fish versus slob. Why not 37 LB's or 39 LB's?

So I guess somewhere between 30 LB's and 35 LB's the fish goes from nice fish to "real" nice fish - or to some kind of slob, but not really. But 3 more LB's at 38 LB's and it is a "real" slob?

And 20 LB's is only a decent fish. What is a teen fish then?

I see - sorry but give me a freakin break. They are all big fish & anyone should be happy to get one of them - especially the way things are progressing with the stocks...

Headhunter 11-09-2005 09:20 PM

now is the time

There are nice fish around rite now and thats only a step or two away from anthor slob, I don't know if I can take anthor one my digital is getting full! :bl: :bl: :bl:

oh man.......Well I guess the pressure is off somewhat for me as I already have a 52 pound "slob" or "real slob" on the wall. I dont weigh them any more I can tell by looking :bl: :bl: unless there for a tourny........

JoeP-I agree with you here, I have plenty of big fish and still love teen size fish, they are all nice. And dont let anyone here fool you none of these guys is bangin 30lb fish everynight and they certainly wont tell you about the skunks, only rookies talk like that. reality is everyone has bad nights and tends to forget those. When I see someone with a 20lb fish I think its great just as someone with a 40lb fish, there all good like I said.
someone just starting out may find a 15lb fish a trophy!! Nothing wrong with that at all and I support that, a striper is a striper, as long as your cacthing your doing something right.

Nobody has majic 40lb dust, the best you can do is put yourself in the best place at the best time in the best conditions, size of fish you catch is pure luck, no on can pick size....

But since we are counting here I have 25 fish better than 30lb this year..I know I know Just rats not "slobs" .............

Bottom line here? there all trophys, the striper is the greatest fish that swims, I guess if I was desperate for a 50 I would fish till xmass!! but that goal is acomplished! and from the surf to boot..........
