Well we just got back from Asbury. What a show, lots of nice stuff. Bought a bunch and some for a couple of other guys.

Other than a hype instigated hysteria for collecting, what are Lefty's really good for?

I fished one once, I wouldn't put it out when serious fish are in the suds and it's action really didn't impress me.

Not trying to be an A-Hole but really, what is the big fuss other than the making of something out of something thats really not all that much and collectors going gaga over it.

Too many plug builders who are thought of as "legends" ( I hate that term actually) are building plugs more for the collectoing market than the actual fishing there-of.

I must agree, if it wasn't for the fact that I was one of the first in line and had a opportunity to grab a couple of Lefty's first off his table I most likely would not of picked any up.. Lefty Carr bumped the price up to $35. for his larger lures and in fact was not very pleasant when the crowds rushed in to buy him out.. Nice huh....

I also skipped some of the other "Collectors" plugs and instead went for what I was looking for - Fixters & Gary2's...:kewl:

We were in line at 7:30 and there were around 60 guys ahead of us I am guessing. By the time the doors openned (9AM) there had to be 500+ people behind us.

We got tickets from Lefty's helper (his grandson I think). My ticket# was 45 (out of 50). The ticket entitled me to be able to buy 3 lefty's. I bought 2. Lefty was fine but his helper was grumpy. Had the attitude that everyone wsa out to get them. Tagger and I were standing infront of the table getting ready to pick up a plug and he screams "hold it" No plugs could be picked up and looked at until the person buying (tagger) picked out his 3. He must think I look like a criminal or something.....:tooth:

could be, things were really tight movement wise so I didn't get to see everything.

Dave, how long did it take to sell the Lefty's out? that's $5,000.00 plus/minus if he sold out.

He was wrapped up in well under an hour. I should have bought the 3rd one. People want to buy them but I am not looking for money from them. It's "what do you have to trade":devil: small ones were 30 and large were 35

Short Supply of them also went in minutes...

When I walked in it was a bee line to see Mike F. and Gary. Then I moved around. I did see the shadowbox. Very nice and the pieces in it all looked mint. I would have bought a few tickets for the drawing but was too lazy to fill out the coupons.

I was considering going to that one, but I passed on it and instead went to the Berkley one as in New Jersey anyway. I not much of a pug collecter but the Berkley mostly had tackle and a few plug builders. I was very impressed with Berkley one. The crowds were not bad and actual had good gear. I would recommend definetly going to a Jersey Flea market. We guys need to get one started here.

Sounds like madness. I thought that I was depressed because I was going to miss it, but now, not so sure. But your stash? Looks great. I'm jealous of that.

Nice to see some of the Mass crew down here in N.J.! You are welcomed anytime. I think Throwing Timber likes it a lot down here since I keep running into him.:rolleyes:
