Been doing that for 30 years, big water on the beach go to a 15cc loaded fin.

Sometimes people use bunker oil , not water. Then they shove in the toothpick he mentioned but do no glue it so the bunker oil weeps out over time.

Anyway , graet job all around on this one.

How deep do those run at 10cc ?

Is the 10cc enough for a bomber? Does it need more?

cool video Pete/SWE guys! I do it differently but like steve said they all work, some just work better!

1 cc H2O = .0352 oz
then 10 cc = .352 oz therefor the total is about 1.352 oz

The 7' redfin with standard hook weight 1 oz per the manufacturer.
If you replace the hooks with vmc the weight will increase slightly.

If you clip a bit of the tail will the squirrel generate more strikes?

great vid, I started doing that last year and they worked great, I don't have the syringe, so I just go by the float test.

excuse me for missing your comment on the bunker oil.

I would think a littel bunker oil with a little pin hole in the rear would give a little slcik for them to pick up.. NO

Not expensive. You can buy it in quarts for I forget maybe $10 or so.

For what its worth: I've tried loading with bunker oil. Problem is the oil leaks out of the plug into your plug bag and the whole bag becomes an oily and slippery mess. Besides, when the fin is in the water, sea water tends to leak "into" the plug instead of the oil seeping out (until it's in your bag). Eventually your fin becomes overloaded. Maybe you can learn from my experience.

Why and where does the redfin leak ?

If the redfin's leak from the mold line in the center or where the hooks are located then why not just submerge under water overnite or a few days until water gets inside to the desired level. Then seal the edges with "tough as nails" hoping to seal the leaking area of the redfin. This way you don't have to load the typical way.

I reread the prior post. Where you refering to the leak when the fin has a pin hole for the oil to seap out or a loaded fin in general without the pin hole?

I watched all your you-tube videos. Nice work! I think this is an excellent way to present how-to segments. It is better then an article with a few pictures. I like to see and hear the guy doing it, his tone alone adds a lot to feature: for example, when he is taking the sluggo out of the case and the talks about the hook, the way he says "throw this the garbage" is great. You know he has tried this and it backfired.

Good job! Look forward to more episodes.

What I'm trying to get across is that if you leave a "seap hole" in the fin it will allow sea water to wick into the fin because of water pressure - not out (while in the ocean). Whatever you have loaded in the fin will leak out while its not in the ocean. Loaded fins should not leak in or out if sealed properly unless they have a seam problem like you said.
Hope this clarifies what you asked.
