Dave F18 update..
 

Just saw him in the recovery room, he is quite groggy but looks good and is in good spirits, They said they prefered no visitors today as its going to be awhile till they find him a room and also he has to come out of the anesthesia fully...basically he will sleep all day.

The doctor said he had to remove the complete disc so thats a little more involved than just removing half of it which is what was planned at first, after he got in there and saw what he was dealing with he just decided to remove it all.

I have had this surgery twice(two discs removed) and ironically by the same doctor as dave...he is a great surgeon. I know that the recovery is a long one with a full Laminectomy like dave had..but hopefully, as in my case, all his pain will be gone and his recovery will be a full one..Ok Thats all I have and he apreciates everyones well wishes and has his laptop with him ! I am sure he will be posting from his hospital bed as soon as he gets to a room!

I'll tell ya, Morphine doesn't even put a dent in this pain.

Get some rest will ya............Glad your in a room...I need rest to...I am tired !!!! That pain will subside dave, its all normal, before you know it youll feel much better, your back was hacked open today...of course its going to be sore for awhile !! Dave,... if you have no morphine button... start a log...
of when you get your pain meds so you can discuss the intervals more accurately with the Doc....
how soon it wears off ect...

Dave been there done that - it will take time, but you will wonder why you didn't do it sooner. Don't try and be a hero - take it slow and easy.:sleeps:

Dave, You can fish now if you want -- I'll give you a piggyback to a good spot, get you in a lawn chair, cast for ya, and let you hold the rod for a bit. Just lemme know if you feel a bite so I can set the hook and reel it in for you. Drug it up and let's go! Get better soon, dude.

This sux, I'm home now, hell ride, thought I was gonna die on every bump..:eek: Made Dad drive like an old lady..
Sux, can't sit long, can't stand long, hurts like hell. I miss the hospital bed and Morphine..And the great nurses, that hospital was top notch.

give it time. if it makes you happy, i got skunked in one of your favorite canoe spots yesterday, so your not missing much :D
