I DID IT!!!

"Larry" (pictured below with me), short for Larry Bird, measured in at 33" long.

My biggest catch ever, it beat my goal of catching a 30" striper by 3 inches!

Carl would be so proud of me.

Thanks to all the tips and well-wishing. What a rush.

Sweetieface 08-05-2002 04:05 PM

Here is a picture of Sweetieface's fish. If they are getting fish like this on the north shore, maybe we should take Ross up on his get together offer.

bloocrab 08-07-2002 02:54 PM

..Forgive me for saying this but...

....you picked the PERFECT name for the site (sweetieface);) that fish bit cuz he knew what was at the end of the line...and congratulations again on the fish. Those are some attractive rocks behind ya......where about is that? ...

HEY ROSS!!!!

TheSpecialist 08-07-2002 02:56 PM

bloocrab 08-07-2002 03:01 PM

...I am curious though....

..why did you call him "Larry Bird"???....

..Stripers have BIG mouths......you should have called him Emil Carr..:laughs: :laughs:

TheSpecialist 08-07-2002 03:14 PM

He was 33" long hence Larry Legend.:o

STEVE IN MASS 08-07-2002 03:41 PM

Re: I DiD it!!!

Indeed you did! I know I have seen those rocks before.

Sweetieface 08-08-2002 08:03 AM

I'm flattered, Bloocrab. Thanks.
But the fish bit because he knew he was overpowered by my massive fishing skills......... (ok, even *I'm* laughing at that!) I have a four inch bruise on my forearm from reeling the sucker in!

The rocks are beautiful, aren't they?
I am sorry, but if Carl taught me one thing: You cannot divulge your fishing locations......
If I do, you'll catch all the big ones and I'll have none!!!!!

Thanks again Specialist for posting that for me! :D

MightyMouse 08-08-2002 08:10 AM

Yeah, that fish looks kinda happy:D

Congrats again:happy:    :laughs:

As lucky as I was, he was too.

Watch out cats and kittens.....I'm gonna catch a big 'ol STRIPER and put you pro fishermen to *shame* !!!

bloocrab 08-08-2002 08:21 AM

Got Stripers 08-08-2002 09:18 AM

Congrats on your stripe, nice fish for sure, get a few more like that or bigger and you will be hooked for life.

Sweetieface 08-08-2002 09:37 AM

I already am hooked for life. After the first time I went, I was thinking about it all day long after.

It is like a drug.

And don't worry, I have clothes specially put aside just for my new favorite hobby....

Going out to buy my first rod next week. Any suggestions?

TheSpecialist 08-08-2002 03:15 PM

Go to a reputable store with your friend. Try the rods yourself, whats good for some of us may be not be good for you. Daiwa Sealine-X rods are a good price, light in weight, and have quality components.

Since I posted that picture, care to divulge to me any hotspots :D

jsox21 08-09-2002 12:29 PM

I use a Daiwa Sealine Surf and it is exactly as advertised, not too expense but it is really light and is a quality product...

Sweetieface 08-09-2002 01:09 PM

Specialist, I'd love to help you out and return the favor.

Unfortunately, I only know of one spot, and cannot leak it.

I will try to return the favor, however, by sending you filets from my next catch, which will be at LEAST 40".......

(Hey, don't mess with a fantasy)

TheSpecialist 08-09-2002 02:56 PM

No paybacks needed, I was just kidding. ;)

chris L 08-09-2002 04:35 PM

way to go Glrl !!!! youll get bigger than a 40", you have the right attitude !

Slipknot 08-11-2002 12:17 PM

Looks like you are catching on quite nicely to this sportfishing Sweetieface. Nice fish:cool:

I could give you fishin fashion tips........

JUST KIDDING........I dont DARE give fashion tips to anyone......I know I have no taste!!!!! HA!HA! my theory is why bother...I know I am only going to get it dirty anyway!!! LOL

P.S. my parents had three girls and I was the one who absolutely REFUSED to wear dresses......my mother forced my on sundays (for church) until the time I wore a skirt with pockets on a hot summer day and OOPS melted about twenty hersheys kisses in the pocket!!! pulling out my hands full of melted chocolate and getting it all over the pews and just..........she didnt insist as much after that........   (I really hated that.....)

Here is a picture of an old "sweetie" I use to date that liked to fish ;). I wonder what she is up to nowadays....Probably married to one of you guys! :D She always made a fashion statement when we went fishing.

nightfighter 08-13-2002 10:25 AM

Uhh... since Sweetie is up in my neck of the woods....

mebbe it just took a beautiful woman to get you guys to remember my offer up here on the North Shore.......

Ross

Sweetieface 08-13-2002 02:54 PM

Hey, I'm no expert here but I am a female. And just judging by the looks of your little 'sweetie' here, Mr. Sandman, there ain't much sweet about her.

Jenn, I am still laughing at your hershey's kisses story. Partly because I am just the opposite. I loved to get all dressed up for church as a kid. Even now, I'd rather dress nicely than in jeans. It makes it even funnier for my friends to see me covered in bait guts holding a big ol' fish up in front of me!

OUCH!!!!!

But I think I like this new member that caught her first 30+.....:)

schoolie monster 08-13-2002 03:12 PM

Alright guys, give her a break before you scare her off.

Good fish SF, but I have to agree... the outfit needs a bit of work. As a true fashion mogul (ask John R.. I have set several trends i.e. white socks with tevas), I'd say pick up some waders, a dirty hat and smear some eel juice on an old sweatshirt.

If these delinquents still flirt with you after that, at least you know its your fishing skills they are after.

Keep up the good work...

Sandman, you're full of beans :)
