Coming In 08'

Its a "Danny-Type" lure......it will not be called a "Danny" but it is one! (Name is forthcoming) 6 1/4 inches long and 3 ounces. They will be available with eyes and "blind"! They will be available with 2 belly trebles and a dressed siwash or just 1 belly treble and 1 tail treble (which is how I prefer mine).

BigFish 10-21-2007 05:49 PM

They will be available in a rainbow of colors.......and will be limited!

jim sylvester 10-21-2007 06:08 PM

looking good larry

single belly, siwash in wonderbread for me please

what color are you calling that black one.......that is insane

BigFish 10-21-2007 06:54 PM

Just black w/scales Jim! I will do that wonderbread for you Jim! :bounce:

Limited run BF?

Nebe 10-21-2007 07:01 PM

pssst. call it 'the Larry' :hihi:

they look nice :D

BigFish 10-21-2007 07:05 PM

Yup! Limited! I find the "Danny" a tough sell.....there are a few good ones out there. However I have had a few folks request these so I have been working on getting them just right....and they are. So we will see how they sell, and how folks like them.:btu: My numbers figure to be less than 300 available for the season.

Charlie G 10-22-2007 04:27 AM

2 wonderbread here Larry. Is there a limit per order ? I'd like 4 total if available.

STREETFIGHT 10-22-2007 06:50 AM

wow pretty sweet larry...

The Dad Fisherman 10-22-2007 08:30 AM

Larry, those look awesome......I'll have to pick up a couple too.

Karl F 10-22-2007 11:09 AM

Can I ask a dumb question?

if so...

why not call a danny a danny???

copyright issue??.. if so.. has it been tested lately?

at this point in time, i think it refers more to a style of swimmer... than anything else.... and more than one lure company sells dannys...

just wondering.. while i'm eatin my lunch...

onsetangler 10-22-2007 11:35 AM

Larry I'd love to get my hands on one of the black w/ scales! They look awesome!

BigFish 10-22-2007 12:53 PM

Hi Karl.....I probably missed you on your lunch hour? Anyway...in answer to your question about the name. Dennis Ryan who owns Gibbs approached me at the RISSA show in March and nicely asked me not to use the "Danny" name......claiming they owned the rights to it, blah, blah, blah! Now I know alot of people make them and they all call them "Danny's"......and I doubt if any of them were ever approached and I also doubt that Gibbs owns the name.......but I like Dennis and he asked me as a gentleman so.....whats a guy to do? They will be called something else.....obviously they are "Danny's" and I will refer to them as "Danny-style" lures regardless. You can't please all the people all of the time!:tooth:

striperondafly 10-22-2007 01:22 PM

very nice!

It amazes me that Danny's are such a tough sell - they are my favorite plug to fish.

See you at RISAA :)

Flaptail 10-22-2007 01:26 PM

Larry, those are beautiful. MAKE ANY IN PEARL WHITE?:D:rotfl:

Great name but what about "Danielle" or "Flat top"

Karl F 10-22-2007 01:47 PM

thanks for the answer Larry :D

they look nice.. even if ya gonna blind them ;)....

BigFish 10-22-2007 01:47 PM

Pearl?......But of course!;)

Maybe not that they are a hard sell as there are many different builders who make them and I need to test the market before I go too crazy! Its hard to get fishermen to try anything new!

BigFish 10-22-2007 01:49 PM

Thanks Karl!:poke:

that isn't exactly true , just post some pics on the internet with the plug in some slobs face. I think it's partially true the not knowing if it works part and the too cheap to shell out some money part if they already have something that works.

anyway, I like Dennis, he is a nice guy.

good luck Larry, you have good paint skills.

You should sell them just fine, everything I own with a Bigfish name on it has worked so far, you can count me in for a pair when they are available. I know you test your designs enough for me to even worry about it.

I told you guys this a long time ago. They trademarked the "word mark" only which was the drawing of the word.

Finaddict 10-25-2007 09:17 AM

Larry - save two for me please ... colors - I'll take one in Wonderbread and not sure for the other, probably the black with scales ... but hook set up same as you ... one treble in the belly and siwash in the back.

Thanks,
Andy

Finaddict 10-25-2007 09:18 AM

As for the name ... have you considered ...

Y-N-N-A-D ? (pronounced "E-Nad")

capesams 10-25-2007 12:15 PM

Larry..I got a

beachmaster DANNY
Mac DANNY
Lupo DANNY
Pickney DANNY
RMS DANNY
and other's who sold them on the open market...I think gibbs went fishing and you took the bait...my .o2.

Karl F 10-25-2007 12:51 PM

Gonna chime in one more time, and apologize in advance for the "Left Turn" your thread took Larry...
But.. this whole thing to me, would be like if Ford told the other companies, you can't call that a pick-up truck, or if Chrylser sadi, no one else can call these mini-vans...
Danny's, Pikies, Danny's, Needlefish, Spook's, Darters.. etc.... the name tells a type.. a design..a certain action.. something we all know what to expect it will do... call it Larry, Curly or Moe, but if it's a Danny.. it's a Danny!

Peace :D

gldnbear93 10-25-2007 01:29 PM

Larry,

looks good. call it what YOU want to. What ever you call it, put me down for a black scale and a wonderbread.
Adam

ProfessorM 10-25-2007 01:55 PM

Looks great. I think since you are such a big fan of Franks you should call it a Zappa:hihi:

BigFish 10-25-2007 02:01 PM

:rotf2:I was thinking of that Paul...really! I know what you guys are saying is right.....so Danny it will be then....let the chips fall where they may! Danny Pinkney would have wanted it that way I bet!!:)

Sometimes its a struggle to try and do whats right?!

ProfessorM 10-25-2007 02:11 PM

LOL . I couldn't resist. Good luck with your decision

Many make them. Not as many make them right. Or they're extremely rare and/or expensive. There's definitely a market, in my opinion.

Striperknight 10-25-2007 08:22 PM

Call it a Larry. That was the best idea.:jump1:

saltydog 10-27-2007 04:27 PM

Im in for a Black scale and a Wonderbread,at least.
GOOD LUCK GOOD PLUGGIN

yup. there will be a market if they swim right and are relatively easy to get (available). problem is that alot of people have bought some of the new danny's that come along every once in a while and are disappointed. eventually they give up on buying and being dissappointed and spend their efforts trying to get their hands on the "rare and/or expensive" ones as Pete said. Just look what a BM or RM Smith danny gets on ebay and SOL. If your danny's swim right, and I'm not trying to imply that they won't, and you can get them out to some experienced and impartial testers and develop good word of mouth - I think you'll do really well with them and find a market. The impartial thing is the tough part. Everybody kind of kisses everyones ass on these sites when it comes to plugs (usually trying to get free stuff) and it gets to the point that you can't trust 95% of the opions on plugs given here, especially plugs made by sponsors (kind of a "he's one of us" thing).

Rockport24 11-01-2007 10:34 AM

good comments Josh, sooo... Larry you suck, prove me wrong... I'll test some out?? :jester:

Clogston29 11-01-2007 01:06 PM

wasn't trying to imply anyone sucks, hope it didn't come off that way. just pointing out that its tough to get good word of mouth going because opinions get so watered down, and that seams to be the most important thing when it comes to marketing and creating demand for plugs.

Rockport24 11-01-2007 01:49 PM

sorry about that!! didn't mean for it to come off like you were implying that Josh... I know you weren't... I was just making light of your quite true observation that it's tough to find impartial plug testers, so I was just making a joke taking it to the other extreme...sorry if it didn't come off that way... damn internet, it's tough to be sarcastic!

oh yeah I'm not impartial to Larry's plugs because I mostly only use his blitzseeker for topwater stuff!! it's a great plug and I almost cried when I lost one this weekend.
