This guy has some issues going on!
Starts crap here, then goes on SOL and starts a tread announcing that he got banned here !:smash:

Couple things.

For starters, banned or not (which I will get into in a moment), it does absolutely no good to go and keep up the attacks on him or from him. So please, lets give that a rest.

I asked Bill what I should do in his case based on the amount of trouble that goes down, both the trouble caused by him and the trouble directed at him - sometimes justified and sometimes not. I asked him what I should do because things could not continue the way they were going. He suggested that banning him for a while would be the right way to go. A difficult decision for both of us I am certain but I put up with a lot more because of him and by him, as as other members and the moderators here, than necessary. Not fair and not fun. But his suggestion and I agreed.

So, don't let Bill get everyone all hot and bothered that he is getting "censored" for his opinions as he is not. He is having his posting privileges indefinitely removed. Subtle difference but there is a difference. He is no longer posting due to the fights and antics that goes down. Not as he states, his opinion.

It is not his "opinions" getting banned or censored. Nor is it, as he states "I guess its only a certain few who are allowed to have opinions anyway, thats that". We probably under censor here to a fault. So again - it is not "opinions" but the personal attacks that causes a lot of the unneeded flame wars to break out. It is the the fights and the attacks. And that cuts both ways, just because he is not posting here, it does not mean that it is OK to take shots at him.

In a nutshell, the personal attacks stop now. This winter has been a lot crappier than it needed be and I am personally sick of it.

Know whats funny here and people tend to forget? Guess what. This (and all) internet forums are PRIVATELY OWNED enterprises. John pays for the bandwidth. The 1st amendment and the Bill of Rights don't apply. Go stand on a street corner and rave at the people walking by if you want to exercise those rights. Or pay for your own site where you can rave all you want. John has the right to ban or take down any BS posted here at his discretion. End of story.

What I see is a bunch of f^%$# cry babies, grow some shoulders guys..WTF!! Never seen anything like it.. Maybe because I worked in garages all my life..Ball busting was a daily occurrence.. We actually had fun with it...Stop taking everything personal..Lighten up..Have some fun with it..Life is short.. I don't take this internet sh!t personal, and I've had my share of personal attacks on this site, I don't hold it against anyone..In person..I bet most guys on this site would act different..I've met a lot of people from this site and 99.9% were good/normal people..Made some good friends even, some are guys that I had gone back and forth with on the site in a "so called" flame war in the past (#^&#^&#^&#^&#^&#^& being one of them) and we became good friends... We are all people here..We all have our differences..We all disagree on certain things (sh!t, I even disagree with my wife sometimes.:mad:)..What I guess I mean is..we shouldn't judge people by what is said on the net (it's too easy to type whatever you feel like and hit "ENTER")...They are usually much different in person..from my experiences anyways...Peace!

Ya know John, I understand it's your site and you can do whatever you want with it but If your are gonna ban Bill for said reasons ya may as well ban probably 20 other guys..including myself.I can show you many times I've been personally attacked here, I just don't make a big deal of it..I think the problem is the guys who make a huge ordeal out of nothing.http://smilies.sofrayt.com/fsc/sobbing.gif.I also think the site will be effected by the ban..Believe it or not..Controversy brings customers..People love that sh!t..Even though most won't admit it...I'm sure you know all that anyway..Just my opinion..

1. Use the ignore feature if there is someone on the site that you can't stand.
2. Don't call people names or make fun of the way they look.
3. Think and read your post before hitting the submit key.
4. Grow a little bit of thick skin
5. Don't beat a dead horse

So in order to have a better site we should encourage people to beat each other up? I don't think so.

If this all causes a lot of people to move on because there will be less train wrecks than that is unfortunately something we'll need to deal with. I have had enough with people continuously attacking for sport.

That is the risk I'll have to take. We've done a fair amount of good here and lots of people have learned some things they otherwise would not have and a LOT of people have made friends they otherwise would not have. If I can keep THAT going, the good this site does, without a lot of the fighting and controversy - even if slower - than that is what I'll do.

The fights and train wrecks - while occasionally entertaining - it does get old after a while.

but because controversy is what draws people to a story
and that was literally proven on Television as what brings people to watch a particular show...
i just saw a whole show on that subject in fact.

that being said... it may not apply in this particular situation.

My .02 cents.......I have had my share of head butting with a few folks here...mostly early on, but I quickly learned that I needed to respect others opinions whether I agreed with them or not I still needed to respect them and understand that everyone has an opinion. As F-18 said I have mended the fence with those that I had problems with and its all good. Most importantly folks need to understand that there are many different people on here that have many different levels of fishing experience from "Newbie" on up to the so-called "Sharpie"....I prefer to simply call them "experienced". Folks questions come from those different levels of knowledge, so instead of jumping all over a "Newbie" because they ask a question that those who are more "experienced" might find inane and stupid in their opinion is a valid question to those who ask it. So either help out with some advice or just do not comment. Also if someone is bothered by someone, their post or their opinion.....no need to start a big flame war over it....just do not comment and such silliness will die a quick death by sliding down the thread list into obscurity. I do not get involved in the "chit-slingin" threads anymore.....life is too short. In the immortal words of Rodney King......."Has anyone seen my crack pipe?"....:rotflmao:.....opppps...wrong quote.....I meant to say....."Can't we all just get along?":kewl:
