finding the center?
 

ok. i know how to find the center on square stock by connecting the opposite corners and the intersection is the center. is there a trick to finding the center on a round dowel? thanks.

You could go to woodworkers warehouse and buy a center finder for about $5.

Yep, buy a center finder at WWW or make one like I did.
Alls it is is a simple jig. I took a square scrap of wood and cut it on a 45 degree diagonal cut with one edge of the saw blade precisely in the corner but do not cut all the way to the other corner. Now glue and nail 2 more scraps of wood to the 2 edges and you have your jig. I hold the dowel in the corner up against those 2 nailed on scraps and mark the dowel with a razor knife then rotate 90 degrees and mark again, now you have the center.

Another way Tattoo showed me is to make a jig that has a hole the size of the dowel and in the center of that hole drive a screw or sharp nail up from the bottom to protrude into the large hole just a little bit. All you do is take your dowel and ream it into the hole and you have a mark in the center and it is much quicker.

42 bucks for an 50 year old backwards plug that isn't even made anymore. Why? what are you going to do with it? Your not going to fish it. You gonna stare at it? Ooooo, look at this old thing.
Tatoo or the chum fellow could make a far superior plug that swims and casts and looks better for less.
If it is such a hot plug, why don't you clone it?
This is more nostalgic then anything else. I think people that like looking at old fishing tackle that hasn't been used is pretty odd. Most of my old stuff is pretty shot and I chuck it at some point.
