Bye Bye Manny!

Manny is really draggin' his arse in the OF tonight! Ellsbury just ran down a ball Manny should have had!!! I am tired of his selfish crap! Trade him or sit his arse on the bench for the duration of the season! I do not think he will be missed! Just my .02 cents!:wavey:

BigBo 07-27-2008 08:57 PM

They should trade him to Kansas City or some place similar where he can fester for a while. :laughs:

teaser 07-27-2008 11:23 PM

He looks like the creature from the movie "Predator" with that stuff growing on his head, I say trade him too but nobody wants him or his antics.

Does he have a no-trade clause in his contract? Most players of his stature do, and have to approve any trade.

Clogston29 07-28-2008 07:30 AM

he's a 10-5 guy (he can veto any trade)

he said he wouldn't, but who knows.

if you can't trade him and you know that you don't want to keep him next year, i say tell him and and officially anounce after the trade deadline that you're not going to renew his contract next year. this will essentially make him play the rest of the season for a contract for next year, with no excuse that he's trying to get out of his deal. should at least allow you to get the most out of him for the rest of the year.

Saltheart 07-28-2008 08:23 AM

Nut case. Good batter but too much of a nut case.

BigBo 07-28-2008 11:37 AM

He said he wouldn't block any trade deals and he would play for Iraq. His words from yesterday.
Let him go.

Sure--try and trade him to someone like the Pirates or the Giants, and see how fast that tune changes ;)

fishsmith 07-28-2008 01:27 PM

Don't take Manny's words to heart, it's like getting mad at your dog for typo's.

Just keep him batting 4th, and know he was big part of bringing 2 world championships to Boston.

:cheers2:

afterhours 07-28-2008 03:26 PM

i'd keep him- pick up his option and trade his arse in the offseason..

fishbones 07-28-2008 03:35 PM

They should keep him and promise him they won't pick up the option at the end of the season. He'll have to perform well so he gets the long term contract he wants from another team, and the Sox get 2 high draft picks for him leaving via free agency. It's a win win.

Then, they change the locks on the door in the Green Monster. When he comes back in another uniform, he won't be able to get into the wall to relieve himself during pitching changes.

Backbeach Jake 07-28-2008 04:32 PM

Pawtucket his arse. Fundamental rehab. On the bench. Stature this Manny, you're a benchwarmer in the minors...

RIROCKHOUND 07-28-2008 04:52 PM

Frankley I could give a %$%$%$%$ what he says/does.
He goes from trade me to smile, I love Boston in an instant.
keep him hitting, keep him here.

Manny was not that big a part of last years championship with 19 homers and 78 rbi! He was along for the ride in my opinion!

You pick up his option for next year and you are signing him to a $20,000,000 contract! You will never get him off to another team in a trade because he is not worth $20,000,000 and no team wants a 38 year old player for that kind of money....and for only 1 season! They trade and they want a few years in the deal!

RIROCKHOUND 07-28-2008 05:04 PM

Anyone have Papi's numbers w/o manny hitting behind him?

BigFish 07-28-2008 05:06 PM

Who cares? The guy is a divisive cancer! Get rid of him....things will be fine! Manny is just gonna dawg it the rest of the season anyway!

RIROCKHOUND 07-28-2008 05:58 PM

You dont care if they start walking Ortiz like they do bonds b/c Manny isn't behind him.
I think that is vastly underrated...

BigFish 07-28-2008 07:00 PM

Nope! Not at all!

Squid kids Dad 07-28-2008 07:18 PM

Get rid of him..He just had 2 more rbi..bum..He's only at 67 now

Raven 07-28-2008 07:46 PM

i don't watch baseball much

but i have to say the Manny is the worst
example of a baseball player i have ever seen.

i watched him today... and it was ultimately
pathetic and his uniform looked
like it was 2 sizes too big.

Therein lies the problem Mike! Tonight he is a hero and tomorrow he is pushing the traveling secretary down the dugout stairs or complaining about how badly the team that is paying him $20,000,000 is treating him! Mike do you think cancer in the clubhouse/dugout is worth having Manny around? I bet more than a few of his team mates are ready to help him carry his bags to the curb!

striperman36 07-28-2008 09:14 PM

ran on liner from 2nd 1 out Ortiz on 3rd.
Don't do that Manny!!!!

Whats his 'involved in a DP' percentage

RIROCKHOUND 07-29-2008 05:25 AM

Sooo...
Ortiz dogged it on a double play ball big time last night...
do we can him too?

ThomCat 07-29-2008 05:28 AM

 Let him stay pissy, he plays better. :deadhorse:

Manny wasn't along for the ride in the 2007 post season, he was behind the wheel -

"In the 2007 Postseason, Ramirez batted .348 with 4 home runs and 16 RBI."

EarnedStripes44 07-31-2008 03:13 PM

looks like he will be around after all...

not so fast....he be gone according to word from boston.

EarnedStripes44 07-31-2008 03:30 PM

4:20 breaking news Boston.com. "Red Sox Trade Manny Ramirez"

fishbones 07-31-2008 03:31 PM

Dodgers on SI.com. I can't wait to see who they got for him.

Slipknot 07-31-2008 03:46 PM

the comments he said to espn deportes or whatever, were surprising to me. I can't believe he feels that way
maybe scott boris had something to do with manny's actions of late.

he's gone now so it don't matter

time to move on past the manny soap opera and the sox can get back to playing baseball and win some freakin games

I really liked manny when he contributed, great player, but he was clearly done with the sox.

I don't like what we got back though for what we gave up:deadhorse:

fishsmith 07-31-2008 04:00 PM

WOW, he must of been a bigger pain in the @ss in the clubhouse than I ever imagined.

Moss, Hansen and Ramirez for Bay, that's a lot.

Oh well, Go Jason Bay!!

Manny, Thanks for the memories and 2 world series, good luck on the Red Sox West.

Mike P 07-31-2008 04:10 PM

Jason Bay--welcome to the American Lague and real major league pitching.

Rank this trade in about a month, when Manny's hitting like .340 against NL pitchers and piling up numbers for next year's deal.

He's got the perfect excuse now--unhappy in Boston, but look at what I did when I was playing where I was appreciated

afterhours 07-31-2008 04:15 PM

good riddance you pos! :wavey:

Raven 07-31-2008 04:22 PM

thank god

Now go play Dodger BALL.... phew!

BigFish 07-31-2008 04:39 PM

No regrets here! C-Ya!:tooth:

Manny will do great for the Dodgers, but what would he have done if he stayed in Boston? Would he have packed it in in mid August like he did 2 years ago? You can't judge this trade based on what Manny does in a Dodger uniform.

As for Bay, he may be another Renteria. In Pittsburgh, he didn't have as much protection in the lineup as he'll have in Boston. Nady and McClouth are good players, but that's all he had this year in Pittsburgh protecting him. He might do much better with Ortiz, Pedroia, Lowell, Drew and Youkilis around him in the lineup. Time will tell.

nightfighter 07-31-2008 05:15 PM

Dodgers did well in the deal... I think Boston was forced to give up too much (Hansen and Moss) considering the 7 million they're ponying up for Manny's remaining contract.

$20 million a year.... figure a 30 week season, that's like $666,000 a WEEK, before Uncle Sam and the agent's cut. He's a dope, and here's to management, ownership, and the players (who I heard were almost unanomous in their vote) for standing up to players who put themselves before the team and society in general.

$666,000 a week...get real. They should all be capped at one million a year.

striperman36 07-31-2008 05:53 PM

FINALLY
What's it been, 7 years of
I don wanna play no more
I don wanna be here
I don wanna run to 1st base
I don wanna catch da ball
I gotta peee

He brought this on himself, he gets what he wants, the team pays for it.
He and Pedro can go home

I am sorry, I am so disillusioned by professional athletics these days, but then they don't get paid to think, they get paid to play.
Hire an agent to think.

afterhours 07-31-2008 05:57 PM

btw- the sox will be back in 1st place this side of 2 weeks :kewl:.
