Does anyone care about the debate tonight?

So the pundits are saying McCain needs to win, I dont see that happening. Can I stand another hour and a half of the same old BS from these guys, the same talking points? The first two were boring, how can this one be any different?

Because McCain has some real zingers lined up, that he's going to botch, and it's going to be very humorus :hee:

I'm going to watch it because I'm a junkie, and as it is the last debate that at least should make it more interesting.

Yes. I plan on drinking every time I hear these terms.. "change", "My friends", "maverick", "economy" and "arab"

The Dad Fisherman 10-15-2008 06:52 PM

Don't forget to slam the Whole beer when you hear all 5 words in the same sentence.

"My Friends, This here Maverick is going to Change this economy for the better, Unlike this A-rab sittin over here"

justplugit 10-15-2008 07:02 PM

Personally i'd rather see Mc Caine debate Michelle tonight.

When all is said and done ,she's the one who will be running the country. :hee:

Nothing really that new as you expected.

Obama stayed the steady course, and was obviously sitting on his hands many times when he could have really attacked. I don't think he's doing a good job explaining his tax policy.

McCain certinaly had his most aggressive showing and while he did bring up some good points, his attacks really seemed to be flailing. He was like a cranky old man, just trying to throw issues out without ever explaining what they meant to voters. I thought his trying to get the last word in, especially toward the end was very weak. Obama just let him go...

I'm sure McCain supporters will score this a win as he was more on the attack, I'd have to give it to Obama or even score a wash simply because McCain didn't let any blood, which is in turn a victory for Obama. I'd note that many network focus groups including Fox News thought Obama killed him, which did surprise me a bit.

Oh god.

:gu::sleeps::crying:

buckman 10-16-2008 05:50 AM

This will surprise you, I thought McCain hit on all the points he had to. While he is every bit as unsmooth in front of the camara as Bush,I think he shut Obama upon the whole Bush thing. Fact is we just don't know who Obama is, and that scares the hell out of me.

I'm glad I didn't drink every time I heard "Look" at the start of a statement and the mention of Bush.

Raven 10-16-2008 06:21 AM

the kids poll.... which has always been rather accurate

came out Obama 57% .... Mc cain 39% 4% undecided

so there we have it....:jester:

PaulS 10-16-2008 07:09 AM

Mcpain was on the attack more. Obama just was trying to absorb the punches and not give Mcpain a major talking point. It was funny watching Mcpain say something and try to misrepresent Obama's platform and then Obama would say "you wrong". Mcpain won't have as large of an audience any other time and doesn't have enough $ or time to win. I'm still made at myself for not offering up plug bets when Mcpain had that small jump after the rep. convention.

RIJIMMY 10-16-2008 07:42 AM

I thought McCain was beat on the last two debates, but thought he did a good job on the issues last night.
1. The Joe the plummer, - guess what? Obamas tax will hurt the common man
2. Columbia and free trade - willing to talk to CHavez , but not trade with an ally
3. Im not Bush
4. Senator Obama, when have you fought against your party? I voted, I voted, I voted. No - what did you DO? Silence..

McCain blew the Ayers thing, here is the money shot that should have been dropped-
McCain: I do not think Sen Obama is a terrorist, nor do I think he is a bad man. I truly believ ehe has the best intentions. However, If I was asked to go to teh house of someone that commited the crimes Ayers did, I would refuse. If I was in the Trinity Church and heard the type of preaching practice there, I would have left. This is not a question of Sen Obamas character, its a question of his judment. Would would you, the average American have done if you were in that church or if you were asked to go to Bill Ayers house?

If he did that, he would win the election.

RIROCKHOUND 10-16-2008 07:45 AM

The average American doesn't know who Bill Ayers is!

I thought about watching it.
but
1. My mind is pretty much made up
2. I'd rather fish than hear Joe the Plumber My Friends
3. You nailed what was going to happen, Obama sits quietly, McCain attacks. it ends up mostly a draw as far as polls will go...

And yes, McCain voted against his party, but a damn high majority of the time he tows the company line, so I'm getting tired of hear that. Also, I love that McCain is now a 'change' candidate as well.
Sick of that word in the debate too.

I'm bored.
Where's the rest of my Joe-beer six pack.
Wrestling is on.

The Ayers thing is a non-subject. Just more politicizing and playing buzz words like "terrorist".

Likwid, the people that make over 250K are the people that make jobs, invest, and spend.
You believe its better to take there $ and give it to the government? How much of that will actually make it back into the system once the government takes its share?

You just don't listen do you?
Thats ok.

Nebe 10-16-2008 08:52 AM

The people who make over 250 a year are smart enough to know that if they dont want their money to go to the gubmint, they will reinvest their earnings into their own business and hire more people so that THEY will win and not the gubmint. Come on jim, do i have to explain everything to you :rollem:

I will use myself for an example.. Joe Glass Artist.

lets say I cleared 450 G's after expenses last year..I know this and am sitting on a big chunk of change that I dont want to give to Obama.. What am I going to do?? Well... I would dump that extra $200 grand into marketing, new equipment, new materials for R&D, throw a huge studio party (entertainment expense) and basically cook my books down to only earning 249 thousand. Its perfectly legal and Its in everyone's best interest that I do it... Infact, like it or not, I just stimulated the economy way more than a stupid $300 stimulus check
Joe Glass Artists and Joe Plumber's main problem right now is that the ecomomy is in such a crappy spot now that its going to be really hard to think in those terms for a few years..

likwid 10-16-2008 09:10 AM

Hell, you can make just about anything a business expense.

RIJIMMY 10-16-2008 09:32 AM

I see your liberal ethics shining through.

Not the case though for RIJImmy and spouse who work for people, get paid well and still have to sock away as much cash as possible in order to send kids to college, who will get penalized for grants/loans becasue their parents make $ and yet there parents are penalized becasue of their salaris and have to pay higher taxes! What incentive!

likwid 10-16-2008 09:34 AM

Shouldn't you in the proper right wing fashion be telling your kids to suck it up and pay their own way?

Hell, I wrote off lunch with Nebe!

I think thats the liberal fashion. I take care of my own and THOUGHT about my obligations before reproducing.

Nebe 10-16-2008 09:39 AM

Jim, I suggest you start a consultation business. :heybaby: I have and write off $20 for every post on this forum.. :rotfl: ... not really.

RIJIMMY 10-16-2008 09:50 AM

Obamas pitch is that he is about Change and a Uniter. He really is just :anti-bush" whihc I cant blame the american public for supporting given Bush;s performance but look at this Interesting from factcheck.org.

Obama strained to portray himself as willing to break ranks with fellow Democrats. His prime example was his vote for a bill that was supported by 18 Democrats and opposed by 26. Congressional Quarterly rates him as voting with his party 97 percent of the time since becoming a U.S. senator.

Not much of a uniter and not one for independant thought.

See, you're confused about liberalism.
Liberalism is pandering to people and giving them everything they want, just like you paying your children's college education.

Now make like a good righty and kick em out!
