Plug get together 2003 pt.II

OK, so we have a whole lotta people coming to this thing. Time to discuss some other things.
I'll be ready by 9:00 so you can come anytime from 9-10 or whenever you can make it and we'll hang untill 4-5 or so like last time.
If any of you can carpool I'd appreciate it, I'll clear the driveway and if it's not wet, the front yard is ok too, otherwise park along the road somewhere.
I have a grille if anyone wants to burn some grub, there has been some talk of some interested in going to the all you can eat Buffet next to Victory supermaket on rt.28 to have some eat-a-thon or some contest between BM and fishweewee, so if any want to go there for luch that's fine by me. We can also order Pizza like last time. I'll be sure to have some homemade brownies again and have cold sodas and water, BYOB.

Now I know that a few guys will bring stuff to sell so bring money to spend and if you want plug building supplies maybe Habs or capesams can help with some stuff so ask them. Got Stripers may bring an assortment of his rubba also. I'm not positive if anyone else will have anything for sale.

I know mrpogie wants to give a demonstration on the bottle swimmer lips so that will happen by the drill press. If anyone else wants to demonstrate anything, by all means go right ahead. And bring some plugs to demo or copy or just show off :)
I will try to have a bunch of plugs the same in various stages of completion to show a step by step for those who are just getting started( I was so busy last year I didn't get a chance)
If anyone wants to bring a lathe or atleast bring your turning chisels, that would be great, so far I have a mini grizzly and #^&#^&#^&#^&#^&#^&#^&#^&#^&#^&#^& said he'd bring his and BM will bring his Jet and his mini and also I hope his bandsaw and maybe sander too. So there may only be room for 1 or 2 more lathes

I'll have tables setup and benches cleared. There also is a paint room with ventilation for the painting process, we won't have to compete with Got Stripers rubba pouring this year ;)

I just ask that everyone be respectful of others tools or plugs and try to use BM's mini-lathe for sanding which will be by the dust collector to try and keep the dust down to breathable levels.

It's good to see the interest in this thing and I look forward to it. It will be good to see some of you again and finally meet the others. :)Hopefully I won't have a shop full of custom kitchen cabinets in the way

:smash: at the time of this thing, but I am starting a very large job soon. I'll make room though.

So I'll see you all next year, Jan. 4th

CS,
Yes bring the blanks!

Also,
I have collected approx 80-100lbs of stainless steel over the past couple of weeks. 24 gauge(.023") and 22 gauge(.0275-.029). I can get it heavier too if needed? It has all been cut in very manageable pieces.

I will have it with me and anyone in need of some is more than welcome to it!!

UserRemoved1 12-16-2002 06:36 AM

I plan on leaving the duplicator on my mini lathe so people can see how this thing works too.

OldJohn 12-17-2002 05:31 PM

Mr. Habs, I would hope to buy some lips. I don't know what kinda sizes you have, but I'm presently using stuff from 1" to 1-3/8" max. width. Nor do I know your prices but I'm assuming I'd want about $40 worth, which has everything to do with my budget and nothing to do with your prices..... :) Thanks!

food for lunch

How about if I make a Jambalaya dish for us to eat? I can pick the stuff up at the market on thursday and cook it on the grille outside or on the stovetop if someone has already thought of bringing venison burgers or something to cook on the grille.

So what will it be? if 25-30 people show up , we may need to get pizza also, but I will have drinks and Jambalaya.

Fishweewee, I think Dave wants to have the jambalaya stuff and forget the buffet thing. You guys can count how many bowls you can eat or something.

JHABS 12-31-2002 11:22 PM

Bruce I think I got a small ball rasp. If I bring some WRC can we use the table saw to rip it. Won't be much.

capesams 01-01-2003 08:58 PM

Slip....whats u think about chargin $2.00 a head to get into this thing of yours, so it'll help pay for elect, heat, wood, tools when we all leave an the shop is bare:smash: I know..I know don't givem any ideas. Or better yet, we'll all line up an give ya wife a big kiss an thank you for puten up with us. Some may even give u a kiss:eek: :laughs:

Slipknot 01-01-2003 09:27 PM

Bring a plug

ADMISSION FEE IS ONE PLUG! thank you

especially since I gave out way too many last year:rolleyes:

The table saw will be available for ripping purposes, I advise that anyone turning red westrn cedar to do it on the lathe with dust collection so as not to get others sick. I have a box of dust masks for those who want one but we should try to keep the dust down to a minimum. Bill I think mrpogie has the rasp thing covered, thanks.

JHABS, bring bucktails if ya got them. That's a nice offer to bring swimmer bodies:)

If you want to contribute in another way whether it's food or drink, that is fine in leiu of a plug.

thanks everyone:happy:

the second annual Slipfest will commence this sat.

JHABS 01-01-2003 10:47 PM
