Fishing Food Poll:
So you are going fishing with your buddies, be it on a trip for a few hours, an all nighter or a multi-day excursion! What is your "must have" fishing food/snack that you just can't be without? With many its a ritualistic food so I know what a few friends of mine might answer!:hihi:

Big coffee then 2 redbulls few no doze
slim fast bars and banana apples |
coffee and SKOAL when it's spring and fall,
iced tea and SKOAL when it's summer out. that waz last year,,,,,,,,,,,,,gave up tobacco this year! prolly gonna be different this migration, Big Lair; superfood and sunflower seeds w/ two waters ~min~ usually a granola bar or two if i'm gonna be out for two tides. a more likely superstition is my "lucky hat(s)" :bl: :bl: :bl: |
Early morning trips on the skiff I absolutely have to have a thermos of fresh hot coffee. Bagel and cream cheese, apple, and maybe a breakfast bar. Coffee is the big item if nothing else for me! If I'm fishing at night I'll bring water and jerky. A nice cold beer is waiting at the end!:gu:
coffee... coffee... and more coffee.... then getting annoyed when I have to unsip my jacket, take off my wading belt, etc to take a leak every 20 minutes...
as gar as food goes, SUNFLOWER SEEDS during... |
I will never consume another red bull or any other energy drink again... I once got a free case, so I pulled a double all nighter... drank 9 red bulls over the course of 8 hours and urinated blood the next morning... I freaked out... kidney damage??? coffee... thats it...
Coffee before, water and maybe a Kashi bar during and I also like Jerky. Always PB and J when I am on a boat.
For me, not so much besides a mountain dew and some jerky,, but with the kids, we always have to get dorritos or some other chips and usually a loaf of bread and ham and cheese so my daughter can whip up some sandwiches.... She usually makes em as she doesnt like to touch the fish or bait, so she has the cleanest hands...
Hot coffee and malasadas from Ma's and a half a pack of smokes - the breakfast of champions - :musc:
Mountain Dew and Gummy Bears!
Arizona Black Tea,Orange Gatorade or Orange/Carrot Sobe
Beef Jerky and York Peppermint Patties. |
Food is for wimps and guys who use spinning tackle. Real men fish conventional and eat spit.
coffee, water, trailmix, nectarines, apples, peanut butter sandwich
Water and Dr. Pepper to drink. Fishing from shore, I usually have some Cliff bars or something similar and maybe a sandwich if I'm planning on being out long.
On the boat, peanut butter filled or regular pretzels and an Italian sandwich with hard salami, capicola and fontina cheese. |
always have water and gatorade for me and extra for buddies if they want any.my fishing route has egg sandwich stop and later on hot dog stop.my ri route has deli stop on it.
This is a damn healthy lot. If a mini mart is open on the way to the spot...a premade egg , bacon and cheese sandwich and coffee.
After fishing, pork rinds. And maybe an ice tea. Now that's good eats. |
Lets just say I thoroughly enjoy the close proximity of fast food joints to the canal. Usually bring my own snacks, sandwiches, water, coffee, etc. But more often than not I like to catch McD's breakfast after a dawn session, or hit up the dollar menu late night.
Hershey bars and coffee...I could go for days on.
chartruse powerade and oats and honey little debbie granola bars
Pretzles and peanut butter washed down with Heniken
