OTW TV Needs Some New Ideas!
Seen the boat fishing for stripers.....seen the tuna fishing and the shark fishing....seen the ice fishing......how about trying something different?! They did the surfcasting from Cuttyhunk episode but how about doing more surfcasting episodes say from the edges of the canal or the sandy hallowed shoreline of Cape Cod or the beautiful rocky coastline of Rhode Island?? How about an episode fishing from a kayak???! How about an episode on the Marthas Vineyard Derby?? How about an episode on fishing wooden plugs??! Dare I suggest an episode on building plugs?? How about some more episodes on fresh water fishing....say for muskie??? Maybe an episode on Steelhead fishing Polaski?? What would you folks like to see OTW do a show on?? I like the show but would like to see some different things....tired of the same old same old!:)

How about new shows is right. I stopped watching
a plug building show would be great.some surf fishing shows are tuff as they burn spots
They're coming. Once they start airing the new episodes you'll see some great action along the cc canal from last year and some plug building......
NIB porno's..
I'll get out the 3 d glasses.
Show is lame IMO. Same stuff over and over again. Seems like every time I decide to watch it I have seen it already. |

Don't worry if it turns out to be a normal year this year than the next year will be fine. People like instant gratification and when they don't get it they give up and look elsewhere and we can go back to normality.

They missed out on the best time to film a show on building plugs last Saturday, didn't they?

I bought a gallon of Stealth aircraft paint for my bike. A soon as its warm I am going to apply a coat. |
All great ideas Larruy. Although i do see the problem with a surfcasting show as it does burn spots.
Got my canal bike last year. From the junk yard no less....... Junk yard on the cape.
I would love to be entertained by a surfcasting-topic show, but not at the expense of even more people crowing spots with styrofoam coolers and coleman lanterns... Boating is no problem, but a shoreline can get cramped really quickly and get your access shutdown FAST... fishing TV shows are like commercials, that ultimately convince many people to go try something out... careful what you wish for...
I would love to see OTW skishing off Montauk with Melynck, Salmon River Steelheading or Salmon run, West branch Ausable River dry fly fishing in summer. Mix it up a little.
I wish they would leave the C.C. canal out! Having the herring run fishing show up on television brought tons of rude littering yahoos that finally ruined the herring run fishing for me. If they must show people how and where to fish why don't they spend sometime telling people to be respectful of others and take any trash they bring back with them. Some of us have spent decades fishing the canal and have seen just how bad it can get when it is featured on the television. Leave the canal out and let thoose who go learn or be shown by others and perhaps they to will respect the place and thoose that are their first. I will gladly fish shoulder to shoulder with others who have learned to fish a crowd and I usually leave there with more trash than I came with.
They should divide the show into segments. Fishing surf, boat, kayak ,fresh whatever for different speciec, then a "work bench" segment, then a "cook your catch" segment. Mix it up a little, something for everyone. Just me thinking...
The show stinks now. I would keep the show to ONE topic. If they break it up into 3 topics each topic can only be like 5 mins long. I would also increase the show to 1 hour. The topic I would like to see would be one about the MSBA and RISSA fishing shows, plug building, and WAY more surfcasting....I think they only had two episodes about surfcasting :(

reread your statments. one says nothing new on video then when they say new stuff , the responds is o no not here. they do 6 videos a season, and try to please all .its not ez to please everyone .if u r not happy or would like to add imput e-mail them .....now about brinking more people to the canal.get use to it.i've been fishing there 25yrs straight .and seen all the changes. from fishing at the h-run in the 70n80s when only the townies fished .to the 90s w/ roys army from franklin ,and the herrin wars, to no herrin at all .now for the spring run its bucktails ,tins ,rubber or skins . get good at night fishing and make room ,there comming..... if u must know i have wrote many articals w/otw on fishing the canal and i look at it as i'm offering up my know how and info to u people as a gift .cause most u have no clue wtf is going on..most just bitch and complaine about fishing or lack of ...... dave ...ps hows the mag ok ?

I did a surf fishing show with them 3 years ago and it worked out real well. Since then, I 've only seen one( shark fishing- which was interesting). I think boat shows are just alot easier to film but I see no reason why they don't do surf stuff more often.
i knew that i would pay for that statement (a gift) can't win um all............ take it or lump it.......u get what u get ...ripleys beleave it or else...thats all fokes...i love to tell lies... pick one or all..

i wanna see more surf fishing episodes, or light tackle fly fishing...something along those lines
They should do some night time surfcasting shows.
More shows with fishing legends showing their favorite techniques.
A few things to consider are the facts that...
a. filming a night is not the easiest task b. don't want to give away too many spots, thats why boat fishing shows seem more popular c. they are trying to reach everyone's fishing needs d. IT AIN'T FREE... and this economy isn't helping. TV time isn't cheap and I'm sure OTW needs some sponsorship dough to get their shows on the air. They can film a bazillion tv shows all over New England, but if they can't afford to air them then its useless. I hope they can get some more shows, particularly surf fishing with reputable anglers like they did with steve mckenna and mike laptew a few years back. I'd like to see a show on the outer cape beaches. I feel like you could preserve the specific location and just focus on the water. |
I'd really like to see more fly fishing but I think it's probably fine th way it is. I think it's the best new england fishing show, although the bar's not very high. If anyone's interested I'd be willing to host a show!!

And the show has gotten really lame. I nearly ralphed when I heard they were going to do an episode with Nolan. Did it ever air? Personally I hope they don't do exposes no shore spots. We are already under attack from can tossing, line crossing, parking lot pissing idiots. W |
once you have a clue do you really need a fishing mag or show? It's like baseball, fun to play, BORING to watch.:yawn::yawn:
Show topic: "how-to properly confront & persuade Porgy fisherman to pick up their &^#*@!% trash without losing your temper and getting into a fist fight"
cancel it
