Hard To Believe Its Gonna Snow??!

It was such a beautiful day today! 40 degrees and quite warm in the sun in my yard! It was awesome! Yet there is another storm coming!!!:fury:

JohnnyD 02-09-2010 06:17 PM

Could be worse. We could be getting what DC has already received and are lined up for 10-20" more.

I agree though. Is it spring yet?

BigFish 02-09-2010 06:19 PM

Sure felt like it today!:uhuh:

JohnnyD 02-09-2010 06:26 PM

Need about 3 more days of weather like this so we can start getting some open water again.

striperman36 02-09-2010 08:27 PM

The weather guys have been arguing about this storm for the last 2 days, when I left at 1715 they were still debating it.
Will be interesting to see how much we actually get.

PRBuzz 02-09-2010 09:18 PM

Beautiful out at 9:15PM: clear skies, lots of stars, no winds, and still above freezing......

striperman36 02-09-2010 09:27 PM

The storm will rapidly draw colder air down as it explodes over LI tonight

Swimmer 02-09-2010 09:27 PM

Be careful Nebe.

Everyone here as in, only the people that have posted in this thread?

Have a safe trip tomorrow. The further south you go, the more people completely lose their minds when the snow comes down.

Nebe 02-09-2010 10:20 PM

Umm.... I have noticed :hihi:

Be careful for sure Eben. I drove from the Cape to North Jersey during
a snow storm one day and it took me 10 hours and i couldn't count the
accidents.

Nebe 02-09-2010 10:47 PM

Show starts Friday at 10:00 am... My move in pass is for 11:00 am Thursday. It takes 4 to 5 hours to set up my booth... I'm thinking I am going to roll the dice and leave early Thursday morning and hope I can get my booth set up that night..... Oh, did I mention I will have a van load of fragile glass??? Uggg.

FishnGrega 02-10-2010 12:10 AM

Today was amazing out. If my bike wasn't up at Ocean State HD I would have loved to go for a evening blast through town.

march 21rst marks the first day of spring .....long time coming !!

GOD! i love this Global WARMING with frozen Oranges in florida.

striperman36 02-10-2010 09:11 AM

A short but intense storm will impact the sne area from about 0900 to 1800 with snow rates of 1-2 inches an hour in the pm with winds during that timeframe reaching into the 40-50 mph range.
6-10 inches of snow have already fallen across areas of the Delmarva area and PA/NJ

Raider Ronnie 02-10-2010 05:37 PM

Weathermen blew this one ! Been sitting here for hrs in one of my plow tucks, getting paid to do nothing !

buckman 02-10-2010 05:42 PM

The panic was a joke. The forcast was a joke. I blame Deval and Menino for the former. That disaster 2 years ago is still costing the taxpayers thousands $$$.

You must be on OT by now Ron.

PRBuzz 02-10-2010 06:43 PM

Storm is increasing intensity now, but too late. Just saw the tell tale sign of an exploding transformer: flash of blue light then bang!

Close but not a transformer on our circuit (yet).

I haven't seen this type of low level warm air infiltration in my lifetime of weather observation. there was a warm air band, like 35-38F no more than several hundred yards wide that swept in about 500 feet above the ground. Almost all the way up to BOS.

I think it was a moonbat plot, to prove global warming.

striperman36 02-10-2010 06:49 PM

Gusts to 35 mph now, visibility in less than 1/2 mi, snowfall is about 2 inches an hour

spence 02-10-2010 06:59 PM

It's coming now...not going to be 6-12 but we should see a good 5" at this rate.

striperman36 02-10-2010 07:06 PM

4-5 sleet is comin up the bay again. 3d doppler shows it up to Barrington

spence 02-10-2010 07:52 PM

Probably 3-4 in Tiverton, but it's an ugly mix...

the kids could have gone to school and been home by the time the flurries began:smash::smash:

wet slush at first here, now a few inches of heavy stuff

worst thing for me was while spray painting conversion varnish the power went out:fury: didn't come back for 45 minutes, then after 10 minutes it went out again:smash: then again for a total of three times.

it's been on for a couple hours now thankfully

so did everyone buy up all the bread and milk?:rotf2:

Raven 02-11-2010 05:48 AM

i split the splitting stump

striperman36 02-11-2010 09:56 AM

Buckman, when you wrote that it was snowing like hell.
However, for most of the day, this warm air low level intrusion really put the dampers on any snow accumulation.
The weather guys were really bummed about it. still are.

MarshCappa 02-11-2010 11:27 AM

The Fox weatherman last night was apologizing up and down for his forecast! I found it amuzing. I've never gotten all worried about too many of these storms in the past but my wife likes to get all excited when they forecast something that is a week away. "It's going to snow a foot next weekend honey so we can't do anything!" I'm a wait and see type but be prepared for anything is my moto!

I think every weather person on every channel was doing the same........they were all unanimous in forecasting a BIG storm. I was asked last week: What job could you keep when your wrong 50% of the time....?

Can't fool with or out guess Mother Nature!

Raven 02-11-2010 11:42 AM

MY wife stayed home

because the first forecast.......
said the storm was starting much earlier than it did
so that bad prediction canceled out some of her overtime :smash:
