When and where will you start poking around?
Not looking for specifics like pole 13, the second rip, or spike rock, but more general. For instance I'll start the first week of April in the Norwich area.

West end of canal around May 15. Don't tell anyone though, this info is top secret.
Freshwater bass should be starting any time and will peak around late april/early may, which will keep me busy until the big migrant stripers start to filter in. |
last week of april, im kinda slow on the start. Might make a weekend trip to joisey to see if i can get a head start on large.

must be a franklin thing, west end of the canal as soon as possible

Rod in the car second week of April. Serious effort at my favorite spots as soon as I see squid boats working off Cotuit...
Schoolie rod gets thrown in the back 3rd week of Apr.
I keep it real simple:My 7' schoolie rod, some soft plastics,a few small tins and jigs.If I think I'm going to get a little wet I throw in my knee boots. I fish the all the usual early season areas in my locale and one that I have never seen anyone but me at. |
started friday night with a 33 incher and 4 other keepers
Stripers arrive at the same time as the green beer.
when the forsythia start to show
Was out throwing plugs at the west end of the canal yesterday...
Not exactly looking for fish, but it was nice out, and some dannies needed tuning, so I figured it was as good a time as any  Might go try for some holdovers in the next few weeks, and I'll start schoolie fishing once the squid show up. Cherry blossoms, normally. |

usually start the last week of march dont expect any fish till my aniversery on april 23 thats the way it seems to work out for me.been that way for the passed 28 years .
Last week of april at the usual schoolie spots. Corner of a certain beach. Mostly just to BS in the parking lot more than to actually fish. First week of May start to get a little serious.

I'm starting to get the fever again, prob hit the sweetwater in a couple of weeks to shake the winter, then I'll catch schoolies in a rivah in my town around the second week of May |
very good Rock -
I started scouting last weekend. Big changes over the winter, but it should be all over now. |
Early May. If there's a good shad run, the fishing will be epic.
my spring has started :devil2:
2nd week of April every day at lunch time for a half hour with my spring popper in the muddy river waiting for that 1st chase, splash or swirl. That 1st chase is better than any fish all year for me, even though they are rats without lice. That's when insomnia starts.
