Times? Date? Tide?

The Dad Fisherman 07-21-2010 09:40 AM

Actually its not....make it for accuracy instead of distance....put a bucket at 1 end of the lot and see who can pop a plug into it

Slipknot 07-21-2010 02:27 PM

August 7 BBQ in Newbury,at the bridge to Plum Island, in the parking lot. I believe we are meeting around 3pm for BBQ. Then split up to fish the many areas the North Shore offers.

I will show what I know of local access here in Marblehead to those that want to fish here, after we hit Plum Island. I hope we can fish the new sandbar, as we did last year. Marblehead is about a 40 minute ride south from Plum Island.( By the time we got to Mhead, the surf had blown up and we got blown off the best spots....)

So, time to put up. Who is coming? What area are you interested in fishing? (Look at a map, find those areas you have heard of yet haven't fished...) What locals would be willing to guide some folks round their haunts, be it Plum Island, Manchester, Gloucester or wherever? Some folks went north to Maine as I recall.

t.orlando 07-21-2010 04:20 PM

I'm gonna try and make it, always wanted to hit the North shore.

american spirit 07-21-2010 04:38 PM

BBQ isn't until 3pm. You could even get in a half day and make it if you had to.....

linesider69 07-21-2010 05:26 PM

I will try to make this one.

Redsoxticket 07-21-2010 05:42 PM

I'm in. Thanks ahead for those willing to guide us out of town folks that are not familiar with the area.

Depends - My cousin's daughter is getting married the following weekend and I offered my services to help his family get things in order ... so hopefully things can get squared away early enough ... BTW, Sydney's mom no longer lives on the island - so that parking space, facility access is no longer viable.

snake slinger 07-22-2010 04:47 AM

cant make it

Surfland Fishing Report

Don't forget to bring your kayak, if you have one. Parker River and Joppa Flats are local gems to fish from a yak.
Last time I was at Surfland, there was also activity for flounder fishing in the afternoon.
Though others know it better, I would hope all attendees do a little research about Plum Island, parking, overnight fees, etc. I'm hoping Tattoobob and PlumCrazy chime in and can make it!

The Dad Fisherman 07-22-2010 08:12 AM

Just as an FYI.....9:47 High that night.

Rockfish9 07-22-2010 08:36 AM

Seeing as this is my playground, I ought to show up for this one....I've got room for two in my boat if someone wants to put up with a cantakerous little reef rat....

This offer is very tempting as I have always wanted to meet you and a chance to fish with you, but I'm not sure if I would be comfortable on a boat wearing my wetsuit.

You'd be better off than the mistake I made by showing up in shorts....the damn bugs Tore...Me....Up. I was scratching for days :hee:

and there's nothing Cantankerous about Joe.....it was one of the most enjoyable nights of fishing I ever had....once I bug Sprayed up :hihi:

Slick Moedee 07-22-2010 09:47 AM

Damn it. I'll be up in the Mountains on vaca that week/weekend. Bummed out that I can't put some faces/voices to the rants.

Enjoy. P.S. there are not fish on the N.S.

count me in if I can, maybe Paul too
or we can do it some other time if you can

tattoobob 07-22-2010 10:30 AM

I will try to come, I will most likely take my son and we will probably take the kayaks, Ross I haven't fished Plum Island this year that's my fall fishing local but I did hear of tons of stripers and flounder from the beach Lot 1 of the refuge.

I'm in... Can bring some brews, seafood, etc etc. I just moved up here and haven't had much time to get out with work and all, but spinn's been nice enough to give me a brief tour of the 'other' cape.

Down to meet some new people and try some new territory :buds:

Good, you can drop us off and pick us back up

BassDawg 07-22-2010 08:47 PM

and the plot thickens~~~~

Crazy Chuck and redlite,,,,,,FINALLY linesider hits the NShore!!
it would be a BLAST to share my home rocks with ya, if you don't already have a full game plan, gents.

shore hope the big gurls have showed up by then, and High is a little early for THAT night,,,,,,,,but it is always worth a shot, THERE.

wet suiting spot with islands within wadeable/swimable distances, and a promentory that could easily support between 6-8 anglers in waders. can get sketchy if there's a big blow, we'll sea what the surf has to offer.

besides the fishin', it'd be good to sea ya again, Chuck. are ya bringin' CJ and longshot?? the food was very good last year and the comraderie, too! combine that with the casting accuracy contest and we got us a real, LIVE, shindig ~waiting to happen.

who's bringing the BOOM box??

Green Light 07-22-2010 09:27 PM

I'm in.

spinncognito 07-23-2010 07:21 AM

I am still tweaking my schedule but will likely be there. While not hoping for a repeat hurricane like last year I am hoping there is at least some white-water to mix things up a bit as the fishing has been slow up here from shore from my spots. Way too many FAC conditions. Will add to the food list once I can confirm and looking forward to what seems to be shaping up to be a bigger/better event.

spin

Green heads Yes they should be just dying off by then, but some places have deer flies which are much faster and harder to kill
