i have ten foot oak posts (free) going in for re- enforcements
raised tables going in for flats and potted plants
a concrete block wall, i'll be arranging as a soil retention wall

the plastic roll i bought with the structure
and it was priced out at $200 available
at Griffins greenhouse supply

yes, growing food :uhuh: (getting way to expensive)
the left half (lengthwise) is higher up than the right half
which allows for colder air to drop down from the raised bed.

it's also on a slope going down so i'll have natural "air flow"
when it comes to ventilation in spring when it suddenly turns
into a 90 degree day.:confused:

as for winter storms....

i'm sure i'll be out there in the middle of the night for the
few Nor Easters pulling down snow that doesn't wanna slide off.

the "Stance" helped me suck in my GUT ...LOL

My BIL made a similar greenhouse heated with a horse manure/straw mixture in bins. The bins got to 180 degrees and warmed the whole thing. He started his plante at the end of February..

Craig that looks awesome. Been thinking about doing one attached to the back part of my garden. Friend down the street made his with 2 x 4's and it has held up nicely. I like the idea of how light yours is. Regardless of the sthreat of snow. Like Backbeach said, a mix of cow poo and straw goes a long way in the winter. But the thing is with that smell wise you don't want it attached to the house. Excellant job Craig.

The windstorm we had last night Blew the plastic right off
so today
.....i put my compressor into the wheel barrow and shot a CLEAT on both sides to kick it's ass.
A very tough job to do solo with 15 mph wind i can assure you!

Would a roof or gutter heater tape strung along the center ridge support

good idea Dave... i was wondering how liquid windshield silicon
would adhere to the plastic as i have a gallon handy

The tape runs about $1/ ft. Check out how safe it would be to warm the
plastic,even though you would mount it on the poly frame, it's used on asphalt shingles and metal gutters.

Windshield wiper fluid would prolly work too, but a lot
more hassel. :(

If you melt the snow you'll make ice... And ice will destroy the roof.

Nice looking setup! Was thinking of building one myself.By the way that toro is a nice machine, I think I have the same one. with the double bagger it makes quick work of clearing the yard of leaves!

you pay thru the nose for the arches but you can fabricate an easy BENDER and make your own out of straight pipe which is allot cheaper to buy... then you need short 3 footers sections of the next size larger pipe bolted to your ground runners for those to go into and the plastic.

100 degrees was on the thermometer yesterday
i felt like i was back in Florida or California

and HUMIDITY whoa...(some) but NICE , for my old Bones
so i built yet another raised table and shuffled lumber around

TODAY, i start digging while the "big garden" area is still under
a foot and a half of snow

the ten day forecast shows low thirty's and no more twenties
so its time... SPRING FOR ME , IS HERE.

I'm happy the plastic 6 mil SKIN stood up to all that Mother nature
could dish out and then some :uhuh:

i suffocated it with neosporin .....til wifey got home.
