|
Sorry Niko, slave drivers at work decided to move annual reviews ahead 2 months and i have 15 to do so i couldnt go.
How did Togging go? |
togging went about as well - ended up working. this fall has sucked all around, just didn't get a chance to put the time in. the fish will pay in the spring

niko I'll probably be going the weekend after thanksgiving... Slammer pollock are a blast.
|
I went yesterday and it was a slam . . . all over some rough bottom that ate jigs like candy. That and double-headers shredding too light leaders . . . but not mine - I was using 150 pound test :uhuh:
We ended up getting back to the dock an hour and a half late cause we had to bob around outside the harbor while the 3 mates cut the last of the fish - took then over three hours to cut fish. There were about 50 on the CLipper and between bodies, gear and coolers things were a little "tight" .. . Josh, George and Anthony worked their butts off gaffing, tangles and everything else . . . we had a moon tide so we had to contend with that and some tangles were inevitable but most managed OK. Everyone that knew which end of the rod to hold had 10 + fish - mostly all in the teens - pool fish was 26 or so. All fish were on jigs and teasers - bait did nothing. If anyone goes I recommend a long strong leader - with no teaser - you'll catch plenty of fish with the jig alone, and avoid many of the tangles adn botton obsctuctions as well. As for jigs, use the cheapest 12 - 16 ounce diamond jigs you have. Sorry - no pictures. |
nice report :). allright i'm going next weekend. any haddock come over the rails or was the capt just looking for pollock
|
Niko,
Count me in for some pollock, oops, that my last name, if you go this weekend after Thanksgiving. Catch me here. |

Activating this thread to keep it at the top of
the page. Sunday fishing trip. |
What is the targetted ship? I might be able to venture forth.
|
Yeah, if I can weigh in on this, what's the details? Boat, Harbor, etc.?
Not sure I will be around, but used to fish a lot of pollock and if timing works right and you wouldn't mind another, would be interested in the details ... thanks |
the plan is yankee fleet out of glousta on sun
|
Anybody going to buy tickets in advance, on-line?
Boston Deep Sea Fishing Rates and Reservations | Yankee Fleet |
i'm gonna buy mine tomorrow on line. it looks windy and out of the west. a little late fall pollock fishing - should be good. i'm thinking of spinning up a reel with mono for the tangles. need some bigger jigs too, alot of my bigger ones seem to be mia
|
My boat is still in the water.
Might be up for taking some guys if we can get the weather (for a change :wall:) |

i'll give you a call tomorrow ronnie. skimmer - i think right now they are only running full day trips
|
Am I reading messages right??? We may
be switching from Yankee Fleet to Raider Ronnie's Black Hull Charter out of Quincy for Sunday's pollock fishing??? |
ronnie is trying to get his stuff together to take a few of us. we should have a definate answer tonight. let's do yankee as a backup plan.
|
Sorry
Hey guys, boat hauler called me about an hour ago (thought he forgot about me) and wants to try to squeeze in my haul out for later tomorrow.
Sorry. |
looks like it's yankee fleet boys. if you want to go book a ticket.
|
I may show up, depends on what I end up doing tomorrow. Are you guys planning on doing the 7-4 or the 6-3?
If I can't make it, I hope to go next weekend... Anyone who can't go this weekend can meet up next. :buds: and fresh fish at my place afterwards |
it's a 7 o'clock boat tomorrow. if anyone else wants to go just call and book a spot. as of this morning she said the boat was not very busy for tomorrow. for those who havn't done this before - these fish are super aggresive. as long as the captain finds a pile the fishing is lock and load. they hit anything that moves, grow to 30#, double headers of nice fish are pretty common, and fight like big bluefish.
|
Good luck tomorrow guys. Family party to attend so I can’t make it.
|
Was fishing down in LI for stripers - so did not get back in time, let me know how the trip went, should have been a great day.
|
had a good day. plenty of pollock out there. ended up w/ 18 fish. lumpy out there - the guys on the bow were getting bounced around and soaked. bite was hot as soon as we made the first drop. blue dog hung around and munched a few fish. mate's spent about 4 hours cutting fish. my shoulders and arms are still sore
|
awesome - any size to them? also, is this fishery on as long as seas are safe, or will it be winding down for the winter? have travel next few weeks/weekends but hoping it might be available in a few weeks
|
biggest for me was around 20# w/ most in their teens. saw a handful of fish in the mid twenty pound range. yankee does trips in dec but i think you need to sign up for a e-mail/will call list. historically there is a pretty good winter bite. last spring there was a nice spring push on the bank. we were on my boat last may and catching them on light tackle - screaming drags on the abu 6500's. pretty fun
